Popular Nigerian Travel and Tourism YouTuber Tayo Aina, has come out to share his take about the current controversies surrounding the coastal Highway project that resulted in the demolition of the popular Landmark Demolition beach in Lagos.

Tayo Aina who has almost a million subscribers on his YouTube channel mainly focused on travel and tourism, communicated his thoughts through his verified social media handle saying -

Im so glad I left Nigeria to explore other countries that understand the meaning of Tourism. This is the country where you people expect me to be praising.

A country where the govt sees an alternative but still decides to destroy the biggest tourism spot in Lagos, Nigeria because they want to build road.

Would the US, Europe, Asia, Middle Eastern break down their biggest tourist hotspot because they want to build road?

The ripple effect of this will be felt for years. People that wanted to invest in tourism in Nigeria will rather keep their money after seeing this clusterfuck.

This country is a joke. And the funniest part is that some set of people will be happy with all these demolitions, thinking they're doing a certain tribe, not knowing they're doing themselve. Go on twitter, you'll see some people cheering that misplaced priority of a project, saying Igbos should go to their region and invest, they don't want Igbos investment in Lagos bla, bla, bla. But what they don't know is that other investors who are not Igbos are also watching and taking notes.

I just they laugh those people because by the time they realise what they doing to themselves, I'll be like when Zimbabweans began chasing white people and their investments out of their lands in the 1980's thinking they were doing the oyinbos, only for the country to suffer from one of the worst economic crisis known to mankind a few years later

When I heard the owner of Landmark argue that he knew about the road project, acquired his land so that the road could run behind it and that this administration came on board and altered the project course to run through his beach front, I was shocked! Why are we always like this in this country?

In Europe, and America or even south africa, you can not build on a property just because you bought the land, you need to have the right permit and government approved documents.

Landmark isn't a tourist destination. Landmark is just like a small beach side resort for those who can afford it. and lets not talk about the overpriced and exploiting restaurants and cafe along that oniru beach shorelines

How many tourist visit landmark? majority of customers in landmark are Nigerians

it unfortunate that some people have spined these stuff into a tribal issue but along that shores, lot of restaurants, shops and also shanties will also be destroyed.

if we take into consideration, the effort the lagos and federal government took to reclaim most of that land from the ocean, they spent billions of naira doing that, but then how can you now claim ownership of something that has a master plan and the government have spent billions of dollars in doing.

Have you ever thought why there are no beach front house properties in Nigeria? it is because of the landuse acts and the claim that from 250M from the beach shore, the government owns it.

No, Tayo Aina, in those places you mentioned with your inferiority complex, you cannot build on a land you know has been earmarked for a public road, and then when time comes to build the road, you start instructing the govt where the road should pass through.

The first time I watched this guy without seeing his name, I thought he was an Igbo guy by his look, head shape and full wholly hair. I've observed Yoruba that look like Igbo people reason and behave just like Igbo people. Even agabadox know this fact, why they also attack them and deny them from voting in the last election. I truly believe if you test the DNA of these real Yorubas/Omulabis, you will find out that they are more related to Igbo and share nothing with Agbadox, who invaded Yorubaland from from Dahomey and Togo. Meanwhile, the Lagos-Badagry, Lagos-Ibadan and Abuja-Lokoja highways have been dragging for years. Yet Dave Umahi is obsessed with building another coastal highway after his charade of a white-elephant variegated colour unproductive Airport in Ebonyi state.

(1) Landmark admitted they violated the right of way of FG.

(2) They have not proved that they own the coastal land.

(3) The demolition only affected some shanties, and hardly the main buildings.

(4) Landmark wanted to fight the project to protect their selfish interest.

(5) How come he didn't seek redress in court if he felt his land was forcefully taken away from him?

(6) Why are other businesses not making so much noise like Landmark?

If anyone wants to take his businesses out of Nigeria, he can consider the market and the operating conditions. Landmark goofed here. They never asked the right questions. They felt if they build on that land and stayed for long, it would automatically belong to them. The least I expected him was to find another location in Lagos to continue. Just inform your patrons of the new location.

How hard is that?

I have nothing to say. But the road construction is important also.

So? The Dangotes, Elumelus, Jim Ovias are glad that they stayed. All the banks that have their headquarters domiciled in Lagos are glad that they stayed. You can immediately know that the fellow is one of the pained followers of Obi lambarino. No property of Landmark is lost or pulled down(according to the Minister of Works) and he does not even have papers to the beach side, it's not part of his land or property. So where is the millions of dollars and job loss that he and his new found saviours who have never been to or heard of Landmark are complaining of?

The road should have been started at Calabar to allow the beaches on that lagos stretch time to make more money. The beach was always going to go as it is part of banana island.

Oga travel blogger, Landmark is a private business and even the demolition didn't affect his major buildings. What they lack direct access to is the beach front, which doesn't belong to anyone but the public...

I condemn the FG & Alausa for allowing private individuals and businesses unrestricted access to the beach front in the first place. I think they really deserve the negative publicity they're getting.
