If enough money is not coming out from tourism, then it's an easy decision.

Nigeria is not a place for tourism. Nobody comes to Nigeria for holiday... Those one or two yahoo boys that manged to fool a fat ugly white woman does not count.

He's very shallow for that comment. Obviously, he is shortsighted and can't see the bigger picture.

The coastal road will bring in way more tourism than just one business. Imagine how many coastal businesses will spring up along the whole coast including international standard hotels and other investments.

You are the shallow one because you don't even understand the arguments. Go and listen to what the owner of Landmark did when he learnt about the project before acquiring the land. Your moniker is common sense but you don't have it.

If we go by the nigerian trend of project execution, that road will not be commissioned in less than 10 years. So why couldn't they start from a spot that can let the beach run until they're ready to finalise that spot or just start from the Calabar end? After all it's a dual road.

Don’t mind the small boy. He thinks because he has a big YouTube channel, he’s now an ‘authority’, even though he doesn’t know anything.

Tayo aina doesn't know what he talking about, those people sponsors his youtube channel, so he cant speak ill of them even though they are breaking the law.

In Europe, and America or even south africa, you can not build on a property just because you bought the land, you need to have the right permit and government approved documents.

Landmark isn't a tourist destination. Landmark is just like a small beach side resort for those who can afford it. and lets not talk about the overpriced and exploiting restaurants and cafe along that oniru beach shorelines

How many tourist visit landmark? majority of customers in landmark are Nigerians

it unfortunate that some people have spined these stuff into a tribal issue but along that shores, lot of restaurants, shops and also shanties will also be destroyed.

if we take into consideration, the effort the lagos and federal government took to reclaim most of that land from the ocean, they spent billions of naira doing that, but then how can you now claim ownership of something that has a master plan and the government have spent billions of dollars in doing.

Have you ever thought why there are no beach front house properties in Nigeria? it is because of the landuse acts and the claim that from 250M from the beach shore, the government owns it.

so why spin the news into something tribal, when you know you are breaking the land use act and also the government master plan

Everyday, you guys throw the 'masterplan' card around. Who keeps changing the 'masterpland'. Landmark CEO did his due diligence to obtain the right papers to build there. Paul Onwuanibe is the most shrewd investors in this country. Man does not joke SOPs and documentation. Very low business man he is.. Go watch the Lion's den investment show on YouTube to see a bit of him.

Nigeria, a place where even Satan can be proved to be a saint, if he pays the right people and comes from the 'right tribe'.

This country is a joke. And the funniest part is that some set of people will be happy, thinking they're doing a certain tribe, not knowing they're doing themselve. Go on twitter, you'll see some people cheering that misplaced priority of a project, saying Igbos should go to their region and invest, they don't want Igbos investment in Lagos bla, bla, bla. But what they don't know is that other investors who are not Igbos are also watching and taking notes.

I just they laugh those people because by the time they realise what they doing to themselves, I'll be like when Zimbabweans began chasing white people and their investments out of their lands in the 1980's thinking they were doing the oyinbos, only for the country to suffer from one of the worst economic crisis known to mankind a few years later grin

Lastly as a SS babe, this is for those of you saying "God bless people of SS & SW", deceiving yourselves, if Nigerian divides today and for some reason, SS are not able to get their own country, We would rather go with the Igbos than join ourselves with the same corrupt people that have been responsible for our sufferings and the sufferings of Nigeria at large since 1960. Make una continue to dey deceive unaselves, we know our true friends and know our true enemies.

The first time I watched this guy without seeing his name, I thought he was an Igbo guy by his look, head shape and full wholly hair. I've observed Yoruba that look like Igbo people reason and behave just like Igbo people. Even agabadox know this fact, why they also attack them and deny them from voting in the last election. I truly believe if you test the DNA of these real Yorubas/Omulabis, you will find out that they are more related to Igbo and share nothing with Agbadox, who invaded Yorubaland from from Dahomey and Togo. They don't even look alike. Omulabis need to investigate this.

You need to take your medications

Govt determines the use of the land, According to the Land Use act of 1978 all land belong to the govt.
So let Tayo go and build his business and property anywhere or any country he likes, when the govt of the place bring bulldozer, he should relocate to another

I can see you can clearly not defend your initial comment, you are free to continue with the merry go round. Later they will be begging for investors to come to the country when they can't make sensible decisions.

Because starting it in Lagos has the political and media impact they want, and it’s their right to want that. It also imbues the project with a momentum and urgency that would be absent if initiated from Calabar.

I repeat! to all ENTREPRENEURS, Solo-preneurs etc. Nigeria is a giant ponzi scheme, do not invest more than you can afford to loose. Know this and know peace.
Re: Landmark Demolition: I'm Glad I Left Nigeria - Tayo Aina by DMerciful(m): 2:59pm On May 01
Nope, the road was already designed to run behind his resort, Tinubu changed it to favour himself and the Chagourys
Reflect7:

Is it him that determines where the road will run?

So he even knew it was land earmarked for a road, and he built a resort there?

Mssheww.

Can he try that in UK or America?

Plus Tayo Aina needs to SHUT THE HELL UP, and go live wherever he wants and stop using Nigeria as his excuse.

Idiot too stupid and full of himself to see the big picture or read the legal provisions around the issue.

No, Tayo Aina, in those places you mentioned with your inferiority complex, you cannot build on a land you know has been earmarked for a road, and then when time comes to build the road, you start instructing the govt where the road should pass through.

You can never try that in those countries you worship, Mr Aina.

He even mentioned Middle East.

Dem no born you well to try such there.

Why is it difficult to comprehend things
Or Are you just being mischievous
1.The beach owner said that he knew about the coastal road,Yes
The road is supposed to go behind the Beach
Do you know that the FG rechannelled the road?
This is not where they wanted to build it
2.As for taking FG to court
Do Nigeria government obey Court orders?

Does the land under contention belong to Landmark? YES or NO?

Which court order was disobeyed regarding land matters?

Look, I read that Landmark illegally encroached into the land and was selling parts of it to other people. The audacity!

So far, not much of Landmark properties are affected. As for the other businesses there, how come they are not vociferous? Why Landmark?

Redress in court controlled by Tinubu? Stop playing
emkz:
What are the issues?

(1) Landmark admitted they violated the right of way of FG.

(2) They have not proved that they own the coastal land.

(3) The demolition only affected some shanties, and hardly the main buildings.

(4) Landmark wanted to fight the project to protect their selfish interest.

(5) How come he didn't seek redress in court if he felt his land was forcefully taken away from him?

(6) Why are other businesses not making so much noise like Landmark?

If anyone wants to take his businesses out of Nigeria, he can consider the market and the operating conditions. Landmark goofed here. They never asked the right questions. They felt if they build on that land and stayed for long, it would automatically belong to them. The least I expected him was to find another location in Lagos to continue. Just inform your patrons of the new location.

How hard is that?
Re: Landmark Demolition: I'm Glad I Left Nigeria - Tayo Aina by firearcher: 3:02pm On May 01
These "I am glad I left Nigeria people" will not allow us rest. Does claiming that improves your argument in any way?

Anyway, too bad this project is going to affect the man, but ultimately it will benefit more than just him, but millions of Nigerians and businesses.

If he's entitled to compensation, he should take it and move on. Everywhere in the world, there is room and provision for such.

Nigerians should also stay away from buying lands that belong to the government. The friends and cronies you have in government will not be there forever.

Some years back, I was once offered a land that is along a planned government road and I found out at the last minute from a friend who warned me. There are many others who already built on those lands and the agent tried to use that to convince me that nothing will be done since those buildings have been there for a long time and the road never materialized.

I dumped the idea immediately and I have since got another land for my project. The road in that area still have not been built and probably may not in my lifetime, but I treasure my peace of mind more than anything else. If however one administration eventually decided in the future they want to use that road, I won't be caught up in what is bound to follow.

Watch from 39:40, listen to what this African American from the Carribean have to say about Tinubu demolition of Landmark.

U know they think it is Igbo dey are dealing with but the whole world is watching and so is God.

Soon, to find investors in Nigeria will be like winning lottery.

Nigerians themselves will invest in other African countries leaving Nigeria behind.

Most of us don't know the value of infrastructure.. unless the Lag-Cal coastal highway is abandoned, I'll be a huge fan of this initiative. A lot of buildings and structures were demolished but the most noise keeps coming from Landmark all because of sensationalism.

And that to you makes sense? So the government did not realise they would need the road when they were approving the location? Well, no surprises, a person without one kobo will find it easy to support destroying a hard earned investment since they don't have a kobo, poor man mentality.

when Landmark built that business the original design for the road was suppose to be in front, all of a sudden they change it to the back.

Duplicate 1 road into two just to destroy a Nigerian own business and then rejoin the original route.

Landmark should sue them to court to pay for the remainder of the bsuiness.

I dont think any sane person will invest in Lagos, when u can go and invest in Ghana or Sierra Leone or Senegal and your investment wont be turn to tribal bigotry

People dont come to Nigeria, they go to other African countries, like Ghana, Kenya, South Africa even Uganda etc. He should pack up Land Mark and move to another African country for the sake of his sanity.
