The point is unqualified teachers are employed more than qualified teachers. This is one of the problems dragging Northern education backwards. When I know I have connections and favor I will never take my education seriously because I know a Job is waiting for me. That the mentality.

Is masters the same thing with post graduate?
Monaboo:
Let me group Qualified teachers in to categories.

1) National Certificate Of Education (NCE) Graduates from Colleges of Education are fully qualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License.

2) Bachelors of Education (B.Ed) Graduates from Universities are fully ualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License.

3) Bachelors of Science Education (B.Sc.Ed) and Bachelors of Arts Education (B.A.Ed) from Universities are fully qualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License.

4) Bachelors of Science (B.Sc) Graduates in a Subject Specialism holding a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) and Bachelors of Arts Graduates in a Subject Specialism holding a Post Graduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) or Professional Diploma in Education (PDE) are fully qualified teachers in Nigeria holding a TRCN Certificate and License to practice.

These are the minimum Qualification to teach in both Primary and Secondary Schools in Nigeria.

TRCN means Teachers Registration Council Of Nigeria.

NCE Graduates from Colleges of Education are mostly Primary school teachers.

While the B.Ed, B.Sc.Ed/B.A.Ed, B.Sc/B A +PDGE/PDE Graduates from Universities are mostly Secondary school teachers.

Most Big Schools in Nigeria prefer to hire the 4th category of teachers. Even UK, Australia, USA prefer the 4th category becos of they did their Teacher training (Education training) at the Post Graduate Level.

Most Primary school in Nigeria today hire SSCE graduates to teach in their school becos they don't want to pay NCE holders not to mention Bachelors Degree holders.

Why do I know these?

I am a Teacher and I started my teaching career in 2009 with SSCE while teaching in a Primary school. I was being paid N5k per month by the owner of the school. Talk about Depression.

Yet I heard when the owner of the school wants to fuel his car, he buys fuel of N25,000 as at then.

That's why I had to go to the University to further my education.

Teachers in Private schools are suffering.

This issue is deeper than we think.

School owners don't want to employ Qualified Teachers.

The Educational sector in Nigeria needs a total reform especially in Private schools.

Any school that can not hire qualified teachers and pay them what they deserve should be closed down.

Look at the massive failure at the last JAMB.

That should give you a clue that something is wrong somewhere.

Government schools have no problem cos they hire qualified teachers in both Primary and Secondary schools.

It is well.

But if the SE states were tops in tops in this bad stats you'll believe it, no be so?

Not at all, never. Not me.

We can all tell, unless we want to kid ourselves, that Ndigbo and Ndi Yoruba states compete evenly in a lot of things.

I am bold to say any list that you see Ala igbo states all doing bad or all doing good, same as for Ala Yoruba. Forget it.

Especially on this Nairaland we're Peter Obi's defeat to Jagaban is still bring held on to tightly by Obidient, forget it.

It is either Obidients seeking solace in or Batists countering back with their own falsehood.

Really?! We don't have a database of teachers in the country? Are you kidding me?

We do. They all get paid, get promotions and all. It's very easy to get their data except those in private schools.

When I return to my base I'll see to that, I'm in another state right now. It might also interest you to know that; posting HND and Bsc holders for youth service in secondary schools is one of the major causes of Nigeria's educational decline. I'll avail you of all the data and more for a token.

Ok. Come up with your own stats. So all you do is to accept when it favours you and reject when it does not.

A database of teachers showing their qualifications and the classes they teach across the entire country. Then we can analyze the data and confirm the statistics

Commendable...... region that was once regarded as leading the pace in education is fast taking the back seat, nothing concrete is being done to reclaim their status. Instead they encourage hooliganism, agberos and all sorts of discreditable things to ride to political office that only benefits the politicians and their minions....... it's unfortunate but I only hope every region can recognise where their strengths lie and leverage on it for their own development. One Nigeria keeps serious minded people stagnant from advancing alongside serious countries of the world
