Though 2027 is still far but it will definitely come, a president that increase the tempo of hardship within the first year out of four years by 1000% simply means we should watch out for more.
If that 2024 finally arrived if you like vote blindly..... But it's a pity that all our politicians are polithievians.

Some of u don't know how NEPA works..if them bring 250m as bill the idea is to always pay 15m monthly and allow d bill accumulate over 4 yrs...provided u are paying something..then after 4 yrs someone in Nepal office will tell u to pay 15percent of the accumulated bills so that he will wipe everything and start billing afresh this is d reason I love estimated billing

STop this nonsense! It might take up to 5 Billion naira to power UNIBEN with solar
Solar isn’t affordable.
I spent 430,000 on diesel everyday after they told me solar that can power my factory will cost 350 million
Imagine just 200kva kva factory
Mind you the life circle of solar battery is 2 years
Infact the solar I use at home 4 battery’s with 8 panels
If you don’t see nepa light to charge it Atleast twice a week it won’t last long again.

I agree with the 5 billion but not the battery life, you obviously haven't heard of lithium ph batteries
Re: Tariff Hike: UNIBEN's Monthly Electrici Bill Rises, Resorts To Load Shedding by Scandium: 7:20am On May 20
Let them go off grid.

I believe if they can just close eyes and spend heavily to purchase power plants to power the campus, they may not be able to exhaust Diesel of 1 million naira daily.

1million X 30 days = 30 million naira a month

It is by far better than this light bill of 280 million naira a month that they are giving them. They will even have more stable electricity if they supply their own power themselves. Many large estates in Nigeria is doing it, they are providing power for themselves.

Original battery last 12 to 15 Years even more, not all this Alaba market battery that flood the country.

You can have power backup & save yourself millions of Naira monthly, it's not necessary you use solar panels from beginning.

I am inclined to think that your solar panels of 8 (2 panels per battery) are grossly inadequate. I have 4 batteries (12volts each) with 16 panels. My panels are a mix of 350w and 300w. That is 4 panels of 350w and 300w for one battery. I do not use Nepa to charge my panels at all. They charge super fast: not up to 2 hours of modern sunlight to get full. Contact professionals.

UNIBEN can come up with power station that can independently generate power for their internal use only.

it will not do it. From that bill and my calculations, they need 1.6mega watts on average non stop for 24 hours.... On a rainy day you will need 40 mega watt of battery.... To charge 40 megawatt of battery in one day you will need at least 10mega watt of solar panels... At 0.12$ per watts per panel you will need $1.2M for panels alone thats minus shipping and customs.... And lets say you want to have enough storage for two days thats 80mega watt of battery... Chairman i am afraid even 25million dollars worth of solar investment cannot comfortably take the whole institute offgrid ... It will be cheaper for the students to bear the cost of the new electric bill...

UNIBEN is still lamenting when a private university is already generating power from it's human waste.

You mean to install the solar? If yes, my wife financed the installation herself. I do not know how much she spent, but I know that i paid for charge controller installation for N200,000. I didn't bother asking her. We installed it, 5KVA, around September/October last year. It may have cost between 2.5m -3.5m

There are batteries that last 25years. People just don't buy them here in Nigeria because if the cost. They're very expensive. Check sacred sun, 2v, 1000ah. I installed it for a client in 2017 and till now he's off grid completely

Common sense would dictate that universities, secondary and primary schools as well as hospitals are exempted from the hike in electricity tariffs.

Power is a problem in all Nigerian universities. How can they carry out teaching and research under darkness. In FUPRE, for over one year, I only saw light there once which didn't last up to 6 hours.
