So as a scout, you don't know that it is more profitable to pair two players with different attributes in a two man attack? In this case, Boniface and Osimhen have different attributes that can make them a good pair..
And for God's sake, stop this constant rambling about Osimhen needing a pyramid structure with him as the point man.. that is how most out and out strikers are built.. even Halaand is like that..

Unfortunately the out and out quintessential striker are becoming a dying breed.

You have the intelligent forwards ambidextrous and inverted wingers. Technically proficient unpredictable and able to play 7,9 &11 at will and interchange with flawless ease.

Ronaldo, Balotelli, Benzema are like that as well as Mane, Salah ( not great too great on the left), Ollie Watkins, Rashford, Mason, Garnacho, Palmer, Diaz, Olise, Eze, Raheem, etc

I will add to that list Ademola Lookman without hesitation. I was particularly impressed by his first third goals πŸ₯… in the Euro finals both taken with his left foot. With pin point precision for a player who is right footed.

Thank you 😊

In my opinion knowing how we are it makes it very easy for favouritism and godfatherism to thrive. And excellence compromised.

Imagine if we were to select Nigerian origin players in academies in England alone 😲😲 Nwaneri, Chido Obi, etc

Going by his stats posted on twitter by a local league analyst seems worth a look at.

One thing is obvious Finidi no rate Bruno.

I don't either he is in a poor quality team Boavista and he still not a stand out player . His team just escaped relegation by goal difference and Bruno is struggling to get game time.

Funny though he may have played more games than Awaziem who is also poor quality.

Yet we have won the most under 17! The truth remains no country does open trail in this day and age! It is simply a waste of time and valuable resources! If you know a country that does you can post it!

It can not be a waste of time when we have a lot of hidden gems littered around the country. We need a comprehensive method to make up for the gap in grooming our young talents. The open trials offers a system to help filter from a minute group. Keep in mind some of the U17 world cup we won came as a result of open trials recruiting system. We can't call what worked as a waste. A waste is thinking you can draft a list of best players or go to academies and find the best players.

That is totally unrealistic.

Boniface has been too sluggish for my liking in recent games and doesn't seem fully fit yet. Additionally, many Nice supporters are voicing concerns about Moffi's tendency to disappear in crucial games where his performance is mostly needed.

What about Boniface, Moffi, etc and I think Elijah Adebayo should have been in the mix

Can't work because of logistics. These guys are in teams and have schedules. You can't camp them for months to train. It will just be another selection and waiting for them to fly in for games. Also being at the mercy of clubs.

Open trials in zones, screen, select and camp. Work with our winning formula.

If the NFF are lost, they can consult Emmanuel Amunike to prepare a program and run a train the trainers program for young coaches to get acquainted with the system.

At the very least be sure you're right before disputing. There is literally a video of him saying this. This is is exact words in quote

"My philosophy is to win, for me formation is not that important because if players interpret when to attack and when to defend, and they do it well there will not be any problems".
So this is what he said.

It looks like he's saying he is not fixated on formation rather dynamism in play

No hidden talent without an academy at grassroot level. Even Osimhen, Nwakali etc were sponsored to attend the trails by their academies. Nobody will just make a National team from no where, not in Nigeria nor anywhere else in the world! I worked for several years at grassroot level football!

Why are you guys so ignorant? Are they coaching National teams?

Makes his point even more important. We had a chance of getting what big clubs are doing to run or national team. No doubt I believe Domenec Torrent would have been an improvement to our team.

He said it, seen the video. This is probably the 3rd Nigerian coach saying this the last 1 year. First Ladan Bosso, then Finidi George now Manu Garba. It begs the question, is this systemic? Does this reflect the philosophical bedrock of the NIS?

Very concerning

Finidi that went through Ajax system is the last person i was expecting to be saying that. Infact any of the golden generation of the 90s, if they say that, then they should be checked for instability upstairs. The other two, I don't expect any less. Won't be shocked if some NPFL managers feel same way. Reeks of mediocrity reloaded. They should not come and jeopardize the national teams from senior to cadet with such mentality o.

Exactly my point! You select the best players from the available academy talent. What you're advocating for is an open trial where anyone can just walk in. No one does that in this day and age.
If nobody recognizes your talent at grassroot level, you won't even make the trail in the first place!

Open trials. Let the ones recognized in the academies be better than those from the streets who screened. We have hundreds of local academies in the first place. How do we screen all?

We do what worked. Our last U17 we won was not too long ago and we used open trials. How come all of a sudden, it has become rocket science?

Hold open trials in zones, screen systematically and select the best. Anything less is self deceit.

We need to wake up now. We have a golden opportunity of participating in four U17 from next year.

The NFF should make open trials a priority.

The NFF should outgrow mediocrity and incompetence. This is a jet age. With all that happened in the past, no clear cut media reports etc. They should prioritize media to keep the populace in the know and also help in preparation for the future.

Which team has Doherty coached in his life? I do not really understand why people find it difficult to understand simple analogy. He should go listen to the interview again. Is he saying Finidi that played under some of the best coaches in the world does not understand what he is sayng? Did Finidi get his coaching badge from Nigeria coaching institute? Why the first sentence?
Alfryd:
πŸŽ™ Formations, those are just jagons - Manu Garba U17 coach 🀣🀣

πŸŽ™Certainly, the post raises a pertinent question regarding the prevalence of formation deficiencies among Nigerian coaches. It is crucial for coaches to establish a formation and clearly define their team's strategic approach. Execution without a comprehensive understanding of the necessary tactics to counter opponents' strategies is insufficient.

Formation goes beyond merely positioning players; it serves as the foundation for providing instructions on how players should approach matches and respond to various situations. Football encompasses more than simply placing players on the field; it demands a coach with a profound understanding of the game, tactical proficiency, and effective in-game management skills to address unforeseen circumstances.

It is essential to clarify that not all Nigerian coaches share the same shortcomings.

So your obvious bias for Finidi won't let you call out the nonsense he said right? What is the difference between your excuse for him and what Manu Garba said? They all more or less implied the same thing.

Don't get me wrong, Finidi is the Super Eagles coach and he 100% has my support, but that statement shouldn't be made by an u-12 coach much more a national team coach.

I think Doherty expatiated on his point well. He believes and I agree with him that formations in this age is key or base of what ever coaching instructions a coach will pass.

So when a coach calls formations just jargons, I think the coach should be pushed to further explain what he means by that.

We had a related scenario with Manuel Pellegrini at Manchester City. To explain, he said he does not believe in multiple formations and equated them to the same thing.

However, Pellegrini was saying that he works with the 4-4-2 formation and the dynamic changes in information and play equates to formations.

Like in a 4-4-2, you have two strikers. If you ask one striker to troubling the defenders of the opposition and the second striker to drop deep and work with the midfielders, it becomes 4-5-1. Then if you ask the wingers to stay up top to attack from the flanks, it became a 4-3-3.

In a nutshell, Pellegrini broke down why he disagreed with teaching multiple formations but 1. And let the players master dynamic interpretations of one formation.

I hope Finidi is talking in such manner. Anything short is horrendous. I also hope when he gets his next interview he can bail himself. I have given expo from Pellegrini.

I have told you Amunike organized open trials and showed a place where he held a trial with over 4,000 boys and screened from them.

Unless you have another method for us screening thousands of eligible youths.

Propose a better system you suggest. I am not NFF media officer.
