Last month I filled at least 4 e dividend mandare forms and sent by email to registrars without bankers confirmation and they were treated. In this day and age of bvn and nin I don't think any registrar still requires bankers signature confirmation

Africa Prudential registrar was the best. I filled the form on their website without a single paper, signed my signature with my phone, uploaded my nin id card and BVN and I was credited at the right time.

The best part is that, with African prudential, you don't even need to fill any form sef b4 them credit you. Once you buy any shares of the company they manage, they will add you to the register automatically.

The next dividend should be less, as the exchange rate will be determined by tomorrow's official exchange rate. I hear say the official rate has gone down, while the parallel market rate keep going up.

I am hoping First Registrars does the same. I have shareholdings in some companies they manage with e Dividend activated. I loaded some PRESCO units and filled in the eDividend form online with my signature. I have not heard back from them, but I'm hoping to get paid my bribe tomorrow when they pay.

Very soon, right issues will be flying here and there. If they price them well, it will be a good opportunity to increase shares, hopefully at a cheaper price. Based on my earlier analysis, I think some banks will maintain their dividends even after the upcoming share dilution. Here is the one from FCMB.

UBA following suit. 17% fixed deposit, with Rights issue coming Q3.

FCMB public offer in July

These rates are both juicy and tricky... wink

I'll purchase the additional units I need immediately from the floor, IF I have the funds rather than use this their FD.

2% daily price rise (for 10days) will give me more than what they are offering... wink

Who really spends and utilizes these funds invested on the stock market. Like when I purchase shares of say zenith bank worth 1million naira and my account is debited. Whose account is actually credited and what will that 1 million be used for?? I really want to know please.

The stock market is regulated but a very free market where entry (buy) and exit (sell) is easy.

Just as you came in with 1m to buy that is how an investor came into the market to sell zenith bank shares worth 1m or more.
The 1m you brought in goes to the account of the investor that brought in the shares you bought on the floor. The way the money and the shares changes hands that is why we have T+3 days in stock market transactions. When there is a deal, settlement ie clearance is done within three days and the shares you bought settles in your cscs account while the cash of the seller settles in his/her bank account. The whole process is made possible by the stockbroker, NGX, the bank, and the CSCS Plc hence both you the buyer and the other investor the seller pay some charges for the service rendered by these operators and regulators.

It's a buyer and seller market. Someone exchanged their zenith shares for cash, so they get your 1m while you get shares worth equivalent units of shares

So it's not like the money used to invest on the shares goes into the account of the company whose shares is being purchased?

No, not at all. Trading on the shares of listed companies or price rallies benefits shareholders who are involved directly not the companies per se.
The benefit the companies gets is the fact that it increases their value. Which is useful for them in other market transactions and some deals that requires valuation of a company.

Re: Nigerian Stock Exchange Market Pick Alerts by Penboy: 1:33am On May 30
Shares can be sold too without anyone purchasing in the market.. When you have more selling pressure than buying pressure, the shares prices reduces.

That's what account for the downward dump of the price. And when you have more buyers than sellers of the particular shares, the value increases and the price keeps going up.

However, just know that the stock market is a balance between buyers, sellers and the market makers.

And yes, companies can make money from share prices too to raise funds. They do this by selling/issuing shares in the market. They thus convert the shares to money.

Then to prop up the price, they can also do a stock buyback.

At listing, the money goes to the account of the company.
Subsequent trading activities is simply an exchange of funds and equity between a seller and a buyer... wink

Insurance stocks in Nigeria - just like the product they offer are sc4m! Imagine insurance companies with audited result showing200% to over 1000% EPS growth yet declaring no dividend. Thank God I don't have any of them in my portfolio.

At listing, the money does not go to the company but to the initial shareholders. The listed shares already belonged to the initial shareholders. Most times, the company does not hold shares of itself.

Money goes to the company when new shares are sold to investors (primary issues) through rights issues, public offers or private placements.

Subsequently, as you stated, trades on the shares at the exchange is simply exchange of funds for equity between buyer and seller.

When a listed or quoted company goes public through an Initial Public Offering (IPO), it raises capital by issuing shares to the public. The entire amount of money raised at the IPO belongs to the company, which can use it for various purposes such as expanding its business, repaying debt, or funding new projects.

After the IPO, subscribers who purchased shares at the offering price can trade or invest in the company's securities, such as stocks or bonds. The value of these securities is determined by market forces, including:
- Company performance: The company's financial health, growth prospects, and management team can impact its stock price.
- Speculation: Market participants' expectations and sentiment about the company's future performance can influence the stock price.
- Dividends: The company's dividend payments can attract income-seeking investors and impact the stock price.
- Market conditions: Economic indicators, industry trends, and overall market sentiment can affect the stock price.
When you purchase shares through your broker, the price you pay is determined by the prevailing market forces at that time. This price may be different from the IPO price, reflecting changes in the company's performance and market conditions since the IPO.
