A certain Hans Zimmer might still hold claim to the ultimate crown but that Ludwig brother has been smokes for a while now.

His score for Oppenheimer (2023) was just great. Especially "Can You Hear The Music?"

Omo, that Oppenheimer score na fire 🔥.

I was looking for background music for a project and was sampling materials to use 2 weeks ago. Checked out Oppenheimer musical score and I wan craze. Perfection in every sense. No wonder why that movie had a captivating vibe to me I couldn't let go despite it being mostly scientific jargons it was an entertaining watch.

My favourite is Destroyer of Worlds. I first got captured by "Can You Hear The Music" but slowly gravitated to the former. Fusion was also a nice one too.

Maybe
But for bad boys 4 life to rake 400mn plus during a pandemic and this one looking more action oriented and more of a blockbuster, anything is possible

I don't know but that 2020 haul seems like an anomaly to me. Honestly I didn't expect that movie to do how well it did that year. Audiences have changed from that period and that movie was released in January just before the widespread pandemic. Total closures of world economy didn't start till deep into February. The US lockdown only started on March 12. So the movie had made most of if not all of its money by then.
That's the reason why it was the 3rd highest grossing movie in 2020 behind Japan's Demon Slayer and China's The Eight Hundred. Thus, it was Hollywood's highest grossing film of the year.

I don't see all that playing out now. It's got more competition now, in peak summer and there's plenty of big films between it.

Nice seeing three of my favourite actresses in this list and two of my boys. 😎😎

They're all virtually actors I have vested interests in except for Paul Mescal.

Only 2 or 3 at most on this list, gets regular starring role here and can be considered truly A list.

I am still seeing Oldies like Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman, Emma Stone still star in movies this year ahead on these youngies, i even saw George Clooney and Brad pitt in one new movie ad recently. So when will these supposed young a listers take over? Considering some of them are already well into their 20s.

Check well bro
Oldies still get casted cos some roles actually require someone old or middle aged in it.
The young actors can't star in every type of role but they are surely getting big roles.

I don't know if you're up to date on industry happenings with these actors and upcoming movies but I can attest that at least 7 out of these 10 if not 9/10 are highly sought after to lead new projects since last year.

Glen Powell, Paul Mescal, Timothee Chalamet and Austin Butler are highly sought after and got projects lined up for each of them with studios vying for their signatures. They're all in top directors upcoming movies. The only person I got not much update of is Jacob Elordi, but he was in two major films not too long ago late last year as well as Oscar buzz (Saltburn, Priscilla). Both from top female directors too. And I know he's getting called for more projects.

For the females, Anya Taylor Joy is fully booked with projects coming up, she's a hot cake now. In fact Anya is the lead in a new $168mn Mad Max movie that has Chris Hemsworth premiere just last weekend. She's probably the most arguably the most sought after young female actor presently.

And why I consider that list largely authentic; majority of them are called up and working with top directors, some of the best/biggest respected names in the industry. Not just anybody. So I largely disagree with you.

On this list you should also consider they're young and recently just got their star status confirmed. Tho some are not top top A-list yet but by "young" performer with huge potential stats, they're pretty much up there and the popular names you'd want to call for a lead role within their age range.

All these oldies you mentioned I only see them in small or mid budget films, not blockbusters or majors. If they even happen to be in a major movie it's mostly as a supporting role. So with the names you brought out, they're never trumping any of the names on that list.

The only person you mentioned that I consider to be able to bring significant number of audiences to watch a movie just cos of their presence is Brad Pitt. I don't even rate George Clooney as an A-list actor in this present year.
Amongst the females on your list only Emma Stone I can say is getting called up regularly as you put it for major films.

Tell me which major movie is Anne Hathaway, Nicole Kidman leading this year?? Clooney and Pitt are starring in a streaming movie man... Not even a major traditional studio film.
Re: What Movie Are You Watching Now? by abduleez1(m): 11:19pm On May 30
Paul Mescal is working with Ridley Scott as possibly the lead in Gladiator 2 later this year.

Anya Taylor Joy is gearing up next for NOSFERATU from Robbert Eggers (top indie director). Has FURIOUSA currently in theatres.

Timothee is set for a Bob Dylan biopic with James Mangold after confirming his A-list status at the box office with WONKA and DUNE PART TWO. More top directors are still queuing up for him.

Austin Butler doing good for himself too with upcoming movie from Darren Aronofsky after wrapping work with Dennis Villeneuve on DUNE PART TWO.

Glen Powell and Sydney Sweeney just showed their star power with a rom-com (Anyone But You grossing $219mn on a $25mn budget) becoming successful worldwide, what's a rarity in the past 5 years. Headlines TWISTERS remake this summer.

Sydney just got off another success with IMMACULATE with good reviews too and co-produced herself with a fat paycheck. Powell is also gearing for another Netflix produced action movie in HITMAN with stellar reviews so far which he also produced.

Zendaya just got off a high from DUNE PART TWO and currently has CHALLENGERS in theatres.

Jenna Ortega just got off from a widely successful SCREAM movie as well as the lead in WEDNESDAY TV show with sequels in devt for these projects. I'm hearing she's getting approached for projects which I haven't caught up on yet sha. A major role in WB's upcoming BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE too.

The only ones I'm not so sure or up to date about latest projects in their slate are Florence Pugh and Jacob Elordi.

So man if THR says this I got every right to believe them cos I've been following the careers of almost all of these actors and observed their trajectories.
The list could be missing a few names which I'm at a loss to remember who's supposed to be on that list who isn't, but it's solid.

Half of them have at least 2-3 upcoming projects already if I remember correctly and at least with a well respected director. Glen Powell alone, the number of projects I'm seeing his name in the past few months ehn, I dey fear. Dude is taking the industry by storm. Same as Paul Mescal.

The only name I'm surprised not seeing on that list is Barry Keoghan.

Antonio Banderas carried the movie but the plot is a dime a dozen- stuck in a remote area and.having to do seige defence tactics against invaders.

Of course I know about these projects but the two released movies you're talking about she played a very minor role and just few minutes in between both movies. So I ain't really rating her appearance in those ensemble movies above the rest of this list. She can't even be called top 10 characters in those films.

Thunderbolts sef is still an ensemble movie and I doubt she'll be the lead. Although, she'd feature more prominently in MCU's latest installment.

For me, I'd remove her on that list and replace her with Barry Keoghan cos she's the weakest amongst everyone else who is a lead or top supporting character in at least one of the films considered for the listing.

The moment I saw Nosferatu there, my mind immediately went to The Last Voyage of The Demeter. Googled it and discover it's another movie entirely.

I really wish for a sequel to that movie. Such a fine movie. No sentiment or woke nonsense, just plain ass slaughtering and blood draining.

You came armed with enough data grin. Fair enough.

The oldies should be relegated to direct to streaming movies, and allow these young actors to take over the blockbusters going forward because 20s and 30s are their prime years

Like I said, I follow almost all these names closely, so when I saw those names on that tweet I was sure the authors weren't bullshitting cos I know for myself 75% on the list are red-hot with top directors everywhere.

Hollywood is already relegating the oldies unless you a Tom Cruise or Leo DiCaprio. Many major films incoming are helmed by young stars and a good number of them from these names listed.

Hush (I haven't watched yet but well reviewed).

I don't even consider these Mike's best works sef.. . His artistry is in TV series but his movies are still solid generally but not as good and intoxicating as his TV shows.

For TV shows, no director is topping Flanagan for best horror director anytime soon in this lifetime.

Checkout these and receive enlightenment:
