9japride: Sounds like a civil issue not a criminal one but everything is backwards in 9ja. This is not about reacting nicely, this is about abuse of power and it can happen to anyone even YOU or your future generations. The charges are bogus, the fact that she was arrested is another error and quite frankly I'm appalled that some of y'all can't see beyond the act itself and focus on the bigger picture of draconian justice but then again this is what I've come to expect of Nigerians, as long as the injustice does not directly affect y'all, it's all GOOD! |

Firstcitizen: This is why I said it will skip over your head when I said there is a difference between the legal system and the law. And it did skip over your head as predicted. If you imagine I didn't know of those laws you mentioned thats your business. There are others which are actually referred to in most of these instances such as the Cyber Crimes Act. What an elder can see sitting down, a child cannot see standing on a tree. Easy up, lil bro, life ain't as hard as you are making it out to be. |

abbey621: I get your point. We shouldn't be sentimental in this issue. It's just like some people that will insult someone and then say were just joking. People who usually instigate crise can't even accept if someone does bad to them. You personally, I believe won't take any chance if someone tries to destroy your million dollars business. |

Firstcitizen: Ol boy, this your tongue na die oh. Well let me school you a lil, lil bro. You see, a fundamental right is something that rests on you by your very existence. It is not donated by any law. That is why it is called fundamental. It is inherent. No law can take it away from you. Even the architect Wirinet understands this. Now, in addition to this freedom of speech, thought and conscience are not just fundamental rights, they are specially stated in the Constitution which is the grundnorm. A grundnorm, in xase you dont know, is a fundamental, root and supreme source of a legal system. The constitution further provides that any law which is inconsistent with its provisions is void to the extent of its inconsistency. Thus, the laws you cited which infringe fundamental rights are void. In the same way, any law purporting to take away your right to life and liberty would be void. This does not mean that you cannot forfeit those rights by committing crimes. In the instant case, the very description of those crimes you referred to is in stark contradiction to fundamental rights because they are so vague and subject to opinion and subjectivity in many cases. This is why those things, under our legal system, are best understood as torts, not crimes. You are a small boy, it's obvious, and you know nothing. You also lack the quality of intellect to probe and analyse things. Your limit is - "that is what I saw written somewhere." You are shallow. |

9japride: So you jail such a person? If na so Western societies dey do then everybody go don dey jail by now....lol. I believe we have civil courts for this reason, I still fail to see the criminal intent here.....Sue her for millions or billions, why jail her? It's simply draconian and oppressive! |

abbey621: We shouldn't be sentimental about this. Just like people here in nairaland that will make nasty statement then say they are just catching cruise. Meanwhile, they have destroyed someone's reputation or give false narrative about an ethnic group. |
Re: Chioma Okoli: Court Remands Erisco Tomato Paste Reviewer In Prison Over Comment by 9japride(m): 4:11pm On May 30 |
wirinet: Normally, most people in this part of the world are just hypocrites. Everyone acting so nice and considerate. For example is it not little issues that result in students killing themselves in higher institutions all in the name of cultism? A lot of people who can't take jokes are the main ones attacking the business man. You think it's easy to setup and run a business in Nigeria? My main concern in this matter is that people should stop catching cruise on important matters. You need to see that people are post online all in the name of content creation. |

9japride: Again what she said is civil not criminal. Nowhere in any democratic country is such a statement CRIMINAL......If you still don't understand this then there's no point in arguing! |
Re: Chioma Okoli: Court Remands Erisco Tomato Paste Reviewer In Prison Over Comment by 9japride(m): 4:24pm On May 30 |
abbey621: No need arguing, if you like do like her and make false narrative about people's business. You are on your own. The earlier you leave those content creators or cruise catchers the better for you. When they make gains from their cruise they don't invite anyone to share in their rewards. Leave them to sort themselves out. |

9japride: You're focused on a select group of people not knowing this can happen to anyone, imagine you bought a drink and it ended up landing you or someone you care about in the hospital.....The fear of prosecution won't allow you to voice out. Thank God I live in a sane country where common sense is still common......Goodluck with your mentality! |

abbey621: If I bought a drink and the content is poisonous, I will report to Nafdac. You don't tell people how they will respond to false accusations. Me personally, I won't get myself involved in unnecessary cruise catching. Let's leave the matter like this. They will sort themselves out. |

DeepSight: I know the schooling I gave you will help others from falling victim to the misinformation you spread. The right to freedom of speech gives no one the right to criminally and maliciously publish content to destroy others, their profession, craft, products or life's work. Thank goodness Nigerian law recognises it as a criminal offence. If it pains you so much, challenge the law through the right channels and do something worthwhile with your life rather than constitute yourself as a nuisance here. I wish all the best with the fresh knowledge gained from me. M0ron! |

Re: Chioma Okoli: Court Remands Erisco Tomato Paste Reviewer In Prison Over Comment by 9japride(m): 9:33pm On May 30 |
abbey621: But that's the right thing to do. If you won go press, you must have evidence. A good evidence and a lawyer by your side you go hammer. But catching cruise won't help anyone. Me I don't care about all those people disturbing the social media. They are just too mischievous. For example R€no Om@kri uses his platform to attack Peter Obi just to increase the engagement rating of his social media platform. Then most times post sensible post to keep people engaged too and ignorant people will think he has sense. |

tunde1200: Something is certainly wrong with your thought process if you think you can get into subtle threats or theatrics, You obviously think everybody you meet on nairaland swim in same pond. You’re having a discourse and the next thing you think is to start issuing threats, don’t worry, I’ll soon start shivering. Like WTF really? We were sharing our opinions about an event, how on earth it does it get to “if you type nonsense you’ll be picked up”?? This justify the initial assertions of too many kids really on nairaland or people with weird ass thought process. Now read thru the discuss and appraise your own thought process. Life must move on regardless of whose ox is gored. Because there are staff in employ doesn’t mean illegality should prevail. At the end of the day there are no Victor or Vanquished, both Chioma and Eriso will lose and Nigerians too. Our reputations is messed up in international fronts. daily mirror that never see anything right with Africa carried the news, India, -US also did and all comments portray Nigeria in bad light. nobody wins!!!! Sometimes it’s better to keep quiet and let negative energy die out than fight it and amplify it like Erisco did. Wil be waste of time engaging you if you’re in the Alaye Owo semi Da aura! |

abbey621: One doesn't need to get 1 million followers first. The shortest way to fame is just be controversial. Boom! One will turn to celebrity overnight . If that lady comes out from this case, she will eventually be a celebrity. If you want to excel in social media, just be very controversial. |

Sorry if it looks like a threat to you. But I must have to tell you that you are not a good person with this your write and support for this lady that wants to run down a company. The right to freedom of speech gives no one the right to criminally and maliciously publish content to destroy others, their profession, craft, products or life's work. I don't think you ever own a business before that make you support that wicked lady. new2012: |
