Organised Labour has announced an indefinite nationwide strike beginning Monday, June 3rd, in response to the federal government's failure to finalise negotiations on a new national minimum wage and reverse the power tariff increase.

It was was exclusively reported on Friday that Organised Labour under the aegis of the Nigeria Labour Congress, NLC, and its Trade Union Congress of Nigeria, TUC, counterpart, might declare a nationwide strike from Monday if the tripartite committee on the new national minimum wage failed to meet the expectations of Labour.

At briefing, leaders of NLC and TUC pleaded with Nigerians to bear with them, saying “Apologies for inconveniences but commitment to pursue the cause to its conclusion.”

NEWS360 NIGERIA had earlier reported that the federal government invited the leadership of organised labour for fresh talks on Friday as it battled to meet the May 31 deadline set by the union for the government to end negotiations on the proposed new minimum wage.

The Government is not sincere. You enact policies that have made life expensive for the masses yet offering Peanut as Minimum Wage.
Basket of Tomatoes is now 150k, while Rice is 87k but the Government is proposing 60k as Minimum Wage.

Does it make sense to them that a Nigerian worker cannot buy a Bag of Rice or Basket of Tomatoes with their monthly salary??
Isn't this wickedness of the highest order?

If they like they should strike till next year . No sane government will pay #615k as minimum wage. 60k or #75k is the optimum figure

Seriously?
All hands should be put together to ensure a successful industrial action. NLC and TUC should put their houses in order. No betrayal at the dying minutes.
The government should give Nigerian workers a 'Living Wage' as promised.
Aluta continua!!!

This government is very wicked. They removed subsidy day 1 and prices of everything went up by at least 200%.

Meanwhile wages are still same after a whole year.
