Tension is increasing in Aba, Abia state, as soldiers have taken over the city following the killing of five of their colleagues at a military checkpoint located at Obikabia junction, Ogbor Hill.

Gunmen suspected to be enforcers of the sit at home order directed by the Indigenous People of Biafra, IPOB, had attacked the checkpoint and killed five soldiers and burnt two patrol vans as well as their checkpoint.

The tension over the killing has increased with two military helicopters still hovering over the Ogbor Hill area and environs.

Vanguard gathered that residents have resorted to scampering for safety whenever they sight the several patrol teams of soldiers who move on top speed.

Vanguard also gathered that soldiers had stormed Cemetery, Ngwa road, Nsulu markets and other business centres and ordered traders to leave the areas. Many schools in the city didn’t open for studies as parents did not allow their children to leave for school while some schools closed before midday.

However, the Aba main motor park was still a beehive of activities when Vanguard visited. Vanguard also noted that soldiers had left the military checkpoints at Asa road and Emelogu junction in Ogbor Hill.

Residents of Umuola, Ukaegbu, Ehere, New Umuahia and Ururuka roads in Ogbor Hill and Obohia and Ohanku in Ndiegoro area, as well as adjoining areas have remained indoors for fear of reprisal from soldiers.

Fierce looking soldiers have also barricaded the Aba – Umuahia section of the Enugu – Port Harcourt expressway. Passengers now alight at Arungwa, Umuekea, Isiala Ngwa and Ntigha junctions and trek a kilometer while raising their hands. To avoid the situation, some motorists navigate through local routes to avoid the numerous military checkpoints on the expressway.

Efforts to get the reaction of the Army Public Relations Officer,14 Brigade, Ohafia, Lt. Innocent Omale, was unsuccessful, as he didn’t respond to a message sent to his mobile number.

So Nigeria is so much a failed state that the police can no longer investigate, arrest and prosecute high profile crimes anymore but tag it to a group? So if a person wants to rob a bank in east now they will put on Biafra color and police will run away and say they are UGM or in west dressed like Fulani they will run and say it’s herdsmen or in the north put on long beards like boko haram etc….this is sad that Nigeria is now a failed state under a man the enemies of Nigeria said he built Lagos

Unknown gunman spotted. Your days are numbered.

I expect the usual noise and dumb talks about the military flexing power on innocent Nigerians.
You support Isreal killing innocent civilians claiming they harbor terrorists but have a probelm with Nigerian army when they are hunting for terrorists harbored by "biafrans".

You claim the military only flex muscles with civilians yet when the military come out in force, you wouldn't spot one terrorist. All they know how to do is to come out in numbers and ambush a check point they run and hide in the bush.

Many of you can sleep and wake up in your house because of the same military men you come online to bash. Yes, they have their excesses but without them, many of you will be in IDP camps!

Hmmmm!

RIP TO THE ARMY MEN WHO LOST THEIR LIVES TO THIS USELESS STRUGGLE IN THE EAST.

BUT ON THE SECOND NOTE,

WHO ARE THE MILITARY TARGETING IN ABA?

WHY COMING TO SHUT THE MARKETS, ARE THE MARKET MEN AND WOMEN STRUGGLING IN ABA THE PEOPLE THAT KILLED THE ARMY MEN?

I BELIEVE THAT THE MILITARY SHOULD GO AFTER THE IDIOTS WHO KILLED THEIR PEOPLE BUT THE GENERALITIES OF THE PEOPLE IN ABA SHOULD NOT SUFFER AND REMEMBER THAT MOST OF THESE MARKET PEOPLE ARE ALREADY VICTIMS OF THESE UNKNOWN GUN MEN.

IF YOU ARE NOT SUPPORTING ISRAEL WITH THEIR INVASION BECAUSE OF SOME ISRAELITES KILLED BY HAMAS , THEN WHY ARE YOU SUPPORTING THE MILITARY TO SUFFER ABA PEOPLE IN GENERAL BECAUSE OF THIS KILLING?

Why not the North too?
The Nigerian Army is a formidable source that specializes in reprisal attacks
...but when it comes to the North everything goes South.

The killers and terrorists have done theirs and fled, now it's market people and children that are bearing the brunt.

Why closing down markets? Is that how to get the criminals?
Look for intelligence and corporations from the people and if possible place a bounty for information to get to those criminals.
Not innocent people please

Abia state gave those terrorist free space to act foolishly. Now the state suffers the consequences.

Alex Otti was pandering to them (IPOB terrorists) instead of putting up resistance like Peter Mbah of Enugu.

The coward terrorists, as expected, are now hiding amongst the people. The same abia people that were hailing them when started their madness on 30th of May.

Is this the solution? Inconveniencing innocent citizens when the criminals have gone to the bush?.
The army should rather wait for the next so called seat at home and lay ambush for the criminal unknown gun men enforcers, then eliminate everyone of them leaving one to take them to their base for total eradication of the vermin.

..

Coward soldiers guess they ran away when the real fight came knocking on the 30th only to come back after to intimidate innocent civilians..

This act have always been their mode operandi..

They can't stand their feet and fight with their fellow armed men na armless civilians them they show their own power on..

Useless organisation!!
