Nigeria has to be the largest geographical concentration of idiots the world will ever be saddled with. A cursory look at the comments in this thread is enough to tell you why we keep being led by the worst politicians to ever exist.

What a putrid mess!

Are you thinking that everyone in Nigeria is like your family members? No, you are wrong, you cannot use your family members to generalize Nigerians

You can equally be on top of your woman while the national anthem is being sung.
The problem of many of you is that you were born, bred and have lived for too long in the bush to have any sense of civility. You were asked a simple question in a civilised manner, you answered like a pig that you are. Does it not occur to you that there are actually many people on top of women across Nigeria everytime the anthem is sung? Dindinrin ni e, o l'opolo.

I don't share that stupidity with you because, as an Igboman, i haven't seen any reason so far to believe in or pay allegiance to Nigeria.

I like this woman.

This is how this government is meant to be insulted and ignored.

Of all the 99 problems this present Government of Nigeria has brought, it's changing the National Anthem that was his major priority.

Good riddance.

Was that the reason for her sitting down?
Why are you trying to defend the indefensible.

She sat down in protest which is very unpatriotic, even if you don't like the government of the day.

From the comments I am seeing, this proofs very well that Nigerians love suffering and we aren't ready for God leadership.

At the time the president is meant to be accountable to Nigerians for the opportunity of national leadership given to him through electoral franchise we are busy having a narrative about patriotism through the recitation of national anthem.

Her action isn't purposed to rebel against the government but her subtle way of protesting the obvious incompetence of the Tinubu's administration.

When you are faced with bandits in the north is it by national anthem you be unharmed?

Will the national anthem normalise the exchange rate brouhaha?

Will the new anthem increase increase our foreign reserves?

I meet a family that told me that it's 4 full months they haven't eaten meat.
To that family now it's recitation of the national anthem that will create a less inflation situation to help them eat meat.

It's obvious Patriotism and religion has destroyed many Nigerians sense of reasoning.

Truly,Nigerians deserve the kind of leaders we have.

Gbam, they don't know she's fighting for the good of the country, instead they are here insulting her calling her sort of names

How can people be suffering and the best thing in his agenda is changing of the anthem and people are really in support of this

Nigerians needs suffering,it's in the blood
If it was Jonathan or any other person from the east that changed the anthem you'd see this imbeciles here going out to protest but cus it's their person that did they want us all to accept it

Bunch of nitwits

Nigeria is how it is today because there is no culture of protest and resistance from its citizens, people don't stand up to the government when they make unpopular laws and practice glaring corruption the military really set Nigeria backwards by decades.
Now few people like Aisha and Sowore who try to take a stand against unpopular laws are being attacked by ignorant people and paid APC online miscreants.
Go to Kenya, their people protested only because their power authorities took electricity for an hour, here the will take it for a week and nothing will happen. The people of Sudan ousted their former president because he removed subsidy from bread thereby increasing the cost of bread here the will remove fuel subsidy, electricity subsidy etc and nothing will still happen. They will pay a few people 40k and they will come online to attack patriots like Aisha such a shame!

Well let me take you down memory lane.

The last time there was a Nationwide protest where Youths of Nigeria came out in mass to face the government and demand for good governance was during the #EndSars in 2020.

Top Celebrities, Top Activists, Youths both unemployed and employed all came out to demand for good governance.

Well, we all know how it ended on the 20th of October, 2020 at the Lekki Toll- Gate in Lagos owned by your now President.

Lights where put off and the Military who took an oath to protect the lives of citizens were ordered to pull the trigger and kill innocent peaceful citizens of Nigeria that night.

So many innocent lives were lost that night.

The Military was killing them and throwing their bodies into the lagoon and were also throwing some into the Military van to go and exume.

The instruction was "LEAVE NO TRACES".

Because of this DJ Switch is still in hiding till date for having the courage to video cover the sad event that night and share on Social media.

But hey, your military came out to say the video coverage was Photoshop😂

You forget so easily.

So many families right now have not still recovered from the incident because their family members were among the victims.

All fingers pointed at your now President.

But hey, some still went ahead to bring him into power.

But hey, we would pretend like all that never happened and go with the popular opinions of yours that Nigerians do not stand up to the government.

Some people just like fighting foolish issues.

The leadership has always determined what is the national anthem, the followership is meant to comply.

There was a public competition to determine the post independence national anthem that was adopted on 1st October 1960.

Just as there was also a public competition to determine the military national anthem in 1978.

The democratic leadership now has thought it best to return to the initial anthem, and this had support from the different political parties who constitute the National Assembly. This happened via a democratic and constitutional process.

So any mgbeke feeling funky and using that to protest privately, should keep their protest private.

Stop lying

At this point madam you’re on your own. This attitude of yours show how unpatriotic you are, it also shows how unstable you are because your patriotism only exist when the government of the day is your ally and that is evil. Our forefathers fought for the independence of this country with their sweat and blood, and one of the reason we sing the national anthem is to honor them and not to glorify the government of the day. Madam you should have stood up even if you won’t sing. People like you are not feat for leadership position because you think everything is a fight and if you eventually get to the top you’ll expend most of your energy trying to decimate those you perceive as your enemies.

'U know u can be prosecuted for that'

No way.
She was exercising her freedom of speech.

There is no where or place under the law that stipulated standing, sitting or placing one's arm on the chest or any other place when national anthem is played.

Everyone has the right to recite or not to recite an anthem or pledge of alligience
It is all about freedom of speech enshrined in many countries constitution.

No lawyer or even the federal government to prosecute her, anything outside this is harassment.
The only record to stand when an anthem was played was during Nebuchadnezzar failure to stand attracts penalty of painful death, still three Hebrews refused to do so.
People got to know their right and not follow the crowd.

A rare kinda woman. Not too many like you as a Nigerian. Without the consent of Nigerians whom those in government claim to be serving, you change a national anthem that we grew up to know all our lives. Who is now serving who? This national anthem is imposed on Nigerians and would take another 50 years to learn. Amidst banditry, fuel hike and scarcity, naira depreciation, unbearable soaring cost of food and electronics and incessant insecurity this is what our government finds best to occupy themselves with. If I get the slightest opportunity I'll not stand and would not sing rubbish.

Coming front the law and the 1999 constitution as amended. There is no where it was captured that all must stand whenever a National anthem is being recited.

It was as a result of students standing during their morning devotion made it look like you must stand to recite.

Besides, the newly introduced anthem will take years to master and not some to learn in weeks. Madam Aisha is an activist and no law forbids her as she stands on her fundamental human right to decide what she likes and not what she doesn't not.

Law can only go after her if she tries to stop them from singing the anthem.

I don't see the reason for you to come out here t spew garbage from your gutter. Go and learn dude
