I'm already living in one of you think challenging a murder allegation in court is wrong , do you not have a brain or is it not working

He didnt simply deploy court processes. He went further to bring his personal wealth to bear on the highest levels of the police and you know it.

In no sane society can a customer be arrested for criticizing a product.

"Your product is killing people" is not a murder allegation. It is just s subjective health warning according to one person's opinion and can be ignored.

And you know it.

I won't lie, my cousin and I saw that Erisco tomato paste in a super market and we bought some to see if this lady was being serious with her review or being mischievous.

My honest review is that the sugar content was intense, which I'm not even bothered about because Gino and Tastytom also has sugar in them when you taste them raw.

However, the tomato paste when Cooked for jollof rice it taste like burnt rubber or plastic. The taste was horrible. It's not something I could use twice.

Thank God I didn't review it on Facebook or Instagram. Because that man don't take criticism

Criticism is different from accusation , please know the difference

So if I taste a product that has too much sugar, and I say it on my page on Facebook, is that an accusation or criticism?

Nonsense upon nonsense, in a sane environ, a company is meant to campaign and enlighten the public about this and that not threaten to deal with a consumer, the products were put in the market for same consumers right? If i dont like something after smoking BLESSING and hedges then i come out and say this cigarette contains lots of nicotine, which cigarettes normally do, is arresting me the next line of action? This is why religion enslaved people by shutting them from voicing their opinion and questioning things being preached to them...

One thing i want to know is if the owner of the company was from another tribe, would the ladys people be silent?
Seems when the tribe effect checkmated themselves, people chose btw rich and poor.

For your info, products plenty with negative effects for body..

Why are you trying to smart by half , Erisco isn't taking her to court for criticising their sugar content but for alleging that their product is killing people , she should provide proof of such an erroneous claim or face the consequences.

Sentiment rules Nigeria. That is why majority of Nigerians condemn the action ERISCO Foods takes against the lady. Most nigerians place emotions above facts. The best way to handle the case is for the public to send apologies to the brand and assure the brand that its product will not be boycotted. You cannot save the lady by threatening the company. If you keep threatening the company, the company will choose to die as a hero than dying as a coward.

1.
Right from the moment the lady defamed the product, sentimentalists quickly began to beat drums of boycott against the product. According to ERISCO, the demand for the defamed product sharply dropped following the defamation. But sentimentalists now claim that the defamation would not have affected the brand. They claim that what will affect the brand is the action being taken against the lady. So, the brand should have waited to fold up before challenging the defamation? Before you judge a person, put yourself in his or her shoes.

2.
The lady lied against the product by claiming it kills people. Who will keep quiet when accused of killing people? Who? If you condemn ERISCO Foods but cannot keep quiet when you are accused of murder, you are nothing but a hypocrite.

3.
I would have condemned ERISCO Foods if the lady tendered a sincere apology and the public joined her to ask the brand forgiveness. The same public that the brand's survival depends on believes the lady's claim about the product and threatens to boycott the product. So, the company is trying to save its reputation.

4.
I know she had miscarriage while in police custody, and it saddens me. But we should also know that many workers in ERISCO Foods may loose their jobs and die of hunger because of her defamation. Are you saying it is right for her to try to kill people but it is wrong for the people to try to defend themselves? ERISCO Foods didn't get her arrested to cause her the miscarriage. ERISCO Foods put got her arrested for the sake of justice. The miscarriage is a coincidence, not a deliberate action.

5.
She said the paste contains Sugar. It is true, and the company never said otherwise. On the body of the paste, Sugar is listed as one of the ingredients in the paste. But the sentimentalists quickly joined her to cry that the company is deadly for putting Sugar in the paste. They implied that the company has been deceiving the public. How? Does the company hide the fact that the product contains Sugar? If not that you are stupid, you would have checked the ingredients in the paste before displaying your stupidity.

6.
The company explained that the paste is a multipurpose one that can substitute butter for bread. I saw some comments saying that such paste is being consumed for the same purpose in some Western countries. So, ignorance landed the lady and her fans into this mess. Who does a review without a thorough research?
This is a paid write-up obviously and it won't help the company at all.
It's a pity Nigeria has poor consumers protection policy, many brands would have gone down the drain
This same company did same thing to the imported products to gain attention but unfortunately it escalated a trivial issue

When I heard him speak and vow I knew naaa, I no fit chop him product.
I think you're right. They stopped patronising erisco products due to the way the man handled the poor lady. Who knows, the lady could be sponsored by another tomato paste company that's about coming on board in order to pull erisco down. NAFDAC was involved in the matter and erisco products were given a pass mark. Remember the indomie noodles saga? I'm sure you knew what happened next after the perceived enemies lost the battle...we saw over 3 companies coming up same time manufacturing noodles.

Sadly, whenever enemies want to penetrate he will use your relation or tribes people to enter you. The lady messed up big time.

It might interest you to know this same man fighting this woman demarketed other brands(without mentioning their names) on live TV. He said they add sugar/corn starch/additives while his brand is 100% pure tomatoes without additives. That was that period when he used to wear ankara suits to promote Naija. 2013/2014 or so. I can still remember those interviews because I watched them.
If you cannot explain yourself here, you have no point. What exactly should the PR have done?

Have you ever tried building anything in your life from scratch until it grows to as big a level as you have Erisco foods? Then someone just crawled out from their hole to try and rubbish all your years of hardwork? If that happens to you and you are still asking the kind of question, then we will try and answer your questions.

Their are rights and limitations to every right in a democracy. She went overboard in excersising her freedom of expression by defaming the company. Then company decides to take it up and all the time she was in detention, it was a court remanding her. So cant understand how some of us say her detention was illegal.

Even here on Nairaland and social media, some talk recklessly and carelessly not minding the consequences. People like you will watch and clap for them. Then when they are asked to come and defend their positions, you whip up cheap sentiments.

Ignorance is truly bliss but not an excuse! Call Nigeria whatever but nowhere in the world would you make an unsubstantiated claim that a brand kills people and you would walk free! None! Except that brand doesn't have a reputation to protect.

Writing a review and making allegations without proof are two differ not things. Some of you think it is Nairaland where you can type any sentimental and tribalistic nonsense that floats your boat, naa, some people have built a reputation and they will protect it with all they've got. The BURDEN of proof is on her to show how many people Erisco Foods has killed. She go do census tire!

Anybody close to her should tell her to seek to settle this out of court because the Erisco boss doesn't seem to be playing with the court case.

It's funny how you have the gall to bring up sentiments when that's exactly what you did in your first paragraph. Do you think there is any business on earth that doesn't have negative reviews? Do you think any business is above criticism? Is Erisco God that cannot be blasphemed?

What do you this is?

Chioma didn't defame anything. Her comment that the product was "killing people" was simply an exaggeration and figure of speech. You guys know this but want to be mischievous and obtuse.

Your mumu and unnecessary justification of the actions of ERISCO is what landed the brand into its current mess.

Go to Google Play Store and see reviews people leave behind about apps they have used.

With your zombie logic most of those users will be rotting in jail.

What you fail to see is that Nigeria's justice system is warped and not designed to be fair and just to the poor.

This is what attracted public sympathy for the lady.

Her incarceration and subsequent miscarriage was perceived by the public as excessive oppression of the poor by the rich.

I never saw her socalled review.

I only got to hear her name and ERISCO after the rich man who owns ERISCO used his power to keep her in jail.

What ERISCO probably lost is money.

But can ERISCO create life to replace the baby she lost?

Would you side with ERISCO if she was your wife?

The case has not even be tried and concluded to warrant judgement from the court so she can serve punishment if she's found guilty but can you in your black heart justice her being locked up in prison for several months as if she's been found guilty?

Again, stop commenting like a zombie on public issues if you have no sense of empathy
