A weak Obi showing, or an Obi withdrawal meant an Atiku victory. A strong Obi showing gave Tinubu his best chance. Someone even stated before the election that Tinubu's best chance was to secretly fund Obi's campaign.

I did not say Tinubu would have beaten Atiku, I said a lot of persons would have voted Tinubu in the SS and SE if it was a two-horse race, reason being they would be opposed to one Northerner taking over from another Northerner. Before Obi forced himself into the conversation, when it was looking like it might be Atiku vs Tinubu, that was a sentiment I knew was held by a lot of persons.

Buhari has always been hated in the SE. So the SE hate Tinubu for giving Buhari the vehicle that finally put him in aso rock. Add the fact that they had adopted ebele Johnathan as their own and it is a double slice of hatred.
