LifestyleTonite: The problem with them is they always twist the truth to suit their agenda....they tell so many lies that they start to believe lies are truth....they have consistently refused to tell themselves the truth but choose to blame their folly and mistakes on anyone but themselves.....Azikiwe has been shown to be a very unstable character but on this thread you see many of them excusing him for their current woes but instead choose to blame Azikiwes unstable choice on Awolowo.......lol 11 Likes |

You guys are missing the point. That constitution, no matter what it contained or could have contained was thrown out so that it would have mattered if it contained secession clause. Ok, it contained resource control for the regions. Are we doing resource control today? BlowYourMind: |

If the military did not intervene and the secession clause was there, the country would have broken up long ago seanfer: 1 Like |

AlexBells: Azikiwe was a very unstable politician whose ideology changed with each day.....NCNC.....Biafra......NPP...... He stole NCNC from Herbert Macaulay.......in Biafra he initially supported Ojukwu but midway through the war jumped ship and declared support for Gowon and Nigeria......He stole the Nigeria people's party (NPP) from Waziri Ibrahim who had to abandon the party for him to go and form Great Nigeria people's party(GNPP). 6 Likes 2 Shares |

Nope, its the Yorubas that are going with the Hausas even when its unreasonable. Igbos went with Obj and it was successful. Igbos went with Yaradua and GEJ, it was successful. Yorubas went with Buhari, it was unsuccessful. They went with Tinubu and its been a disaster ElSudani: |

Where was Amadu Bello in this argument? When Biafra left, why didnt Awolowo leave instead of looking for secession clause? TimeManager: |

confusedlady: This is 2024, not 1954. Zik has long been dead. We don't need to be together, we can always go our seperate ways and return as we were before the British came to bring us together in their disastrous colonial project called Nigeria . I don't even know some people want Nigeria to continue, all the country has achieved since creation is fighting, poverty and suffering |

Again, if the constitution was abrogated by the military, does it matter what it contained? LifestyleTonite: |

DMerciful: I bet you don't remember the election in which there wasn't a clear majority and any two of the three main parties could have formed an alliance and then form the government. Awolowo offered Zik the position of Prime minister so their parties could form the government. What did Zik do? He made an appointment with Awo while he was in the north signing an agreement with the Northern People's Congress to take a ceremonial position of President. If this is not absurd and unreasonable to you then nothing is. 7 Likes |

gidgiddy: Then tell your governors, assembly men, senators, ministers and house of reps members to pass a bill seeking an amendment to the constitution to insert a referendum clause....that is the first step and not violence, and terrorism....but we know you will never do this because you want to have your cake and eat it too......lol....you want Biafra but you want Nigeria more.. ... 7 Likes |

Yorubas did not look on but connived with the North. Imagine Awolowo suggesting food blockade to keep Biafra from going instead of him using the opportunity to put Yorubas out flokii: |

confusedlady:Give me an example of stable politician like you don’t even understand what being a politician is, a politician is supposed to be a man of the people, since people are unstable, politicians are fluid. People may want rice tiday, but if they keep eating rice they are going to get tired and want fufu, stable politician keeps believing in fufu and that’s not a great politician |

ElSudani:Till tomorrow I still can't understand the rationale behind Azikiwe's decision. Just imagine being played for a fool by some pesky aboki with all his education I suspect he thought the 1960 constitution gave same powers to the governor General like the 1954 constitution. This is more reinforced by the fact he did not know he had no control over the military until 1965!! Zik was a mugu who was the first northern puppet from the South!! 11 Likes |
