Trouble in the U.S.-Middle East coalition behind the Biden administration’s post-war plans. At the Riyadh summit of foreign ministers, the UAE Foreign Minister, Sheikh Abdullah bin Zayed, leveled strong criticisms to Hussein al-Sheikh, a senior adviser to Palestinian Authority President Mahmoud Abbas. He expressed the UAE’s lack of confidence in the Palestinian leadership's ability to govern effectively in post-war Gaza, particularly given the rampant corruption under Abbas's rule. In a heated exchange Sheikh Abdullah likened the Palestinian Authority to "Ali Baba and the Forty Thieves," a remark underscoring his concerns about systemic corruption. In a meeting with U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken, it was evident that the UAE's relations with the current leadership in Ramallah were fraught, partly due to Abu Dhabi's backing of Mahmoud Abbas's rival, Mohammed Dahlan. The intense exchange at last month's Riyadh summit further highlighted the Emirates' skepticism regarding the Palestinian leadership’s future capabilities. An Emirati official familiar with the discussions told Kann News that during the foreign ministers' meeting, the UAE minister confronted the Palestinian side bluntly. "We care that the Palestinians receive proper service from their leaders," he stated, emphasizing the UAE’s interest in effective governance for the Palestinians. The confrontation and these comments were first reported by Barak Ravid on Walla and Axios. Commentary: The Biden administration’s strategy for avoiding regional conflagrations aims at fostering a more stable and cooperative governance framework that could lead to a two-state solution. This entails establishing a coalition in the Middle East to support the Palestinian Authority and Fatah to counter Hamas, while placing the Palestinians on a track to statehood. This incentivizes Fatah and Middle Eastern stakeholders, while strategically repositioning Iran and its proxies as obstacles to peace. However, while the U.S. has been moving to revitalize the Palestinian Authority and put it on a path to counter Hamas with regional support, Iran-Qatar-Russia-China have all been vying to bring Hamas into the fold of a new Palestinian Authority. Russia and China’s recent efforts to promote a unity government between Hamas and Fatah, can be seen as part of their broader strategies to counterbalance U.S. influence, and complicate American foreign policy objectives. The United States' strategy to prevent an escalation between Israel and Hamas that might lead to a broader regional conflict is driven by concerns over direct Iranian involvement and the subsequent risk to U.S. forces and interests in the Middle East. This reflects a broader U.S. foreign policy focus on avoiding large-scale conflicts that could overextend American military and strategic resources, particularly at a time when the U.S. is pivoting to Asia to counter China's assertiveness in the South China Sea. Conversely, China benefits from protracted U.S. entanglements in the Middle East as they disrupt the U.S.'s refocus towards the Indo-Pacific region, where China has significant territorial and economic ambitions. Strategic instability in the Middle East further serves China's interests by impeding the India-Middle East-Europe Corridor (IMEC), which poses a competitive threat to China's Belt and Road Initiative (BRI) and its associated projects like the Iran-Russia International North South Transport Corridor (INSTC). The Biden administration's preference for dealing with Israel's center-left revolves around their openness towards efforts to revitalize the Palestinian Authority. However, the history of U.S. involvement in the Middle East, including the mixed results of past coalitions and interventions, casts a shadow over this strategy and raises questions about the viability and potential outcomes of such approaches. |

President Bush's 2004 commitment letter to ISRAEL Prime Minister Sharon and the US support for the Saudi-UAE-led coalition against the Houthis in Yemen since 2015 do not inspire confidence among certain Arab stakeholders and factions of the ISRAELI government. Furthermore, adopting this strategy entails ceding operational freedom for counterterrorism operations and dire tail-end risks for Israel, including being left with a pseudo-state Palestine, with Hamas and Axis of Resistance splinter groups operating within its territory. In short, another failed Iranian-proxy state like Lebanon with Hezbollah and Yemen with the Houthis. In contrast, the axis of powers vying for a multipolar world order, Iran, Qatar, Russia and China, stand to benefit from such an arrangement in several key ways. CNN reports that Qatar has threatened Hamas that it will expel its people from Doha - if it does not accept the deal to release hostages and stop the war. An American source said that Qatar had warned Hamas for months that its people could be expelled from there - and now presented the terrorist organization with the real threat. |

Today the Paratroopers Brigade (35) entered the Gaza Strip. They operate somewhere around the Netz.arim Corridor under the 99th Division. This is where my son was until yesterday. Thankfully he is out of Gaza. There are now 10 IDF brigades operating throughout Gaza. Amir T
