The best thing to do is not fight at all. Don't punch another man, he might not punch you but stab you OR shoot you.

Anytime you fight another person, you are testing that person's mental health, state of mind, moral compass, and self-control.

Like a wise man once said, you don't have to be wrong to be dead.

Area boys are criminals ; but then again how did u come about a gun as a private citizen ?. Unlawful possession of fire arm is still a crime in naija .

U Dey use crime fight crime ? 😂

Private citizens own guns in Nigeria, There is a rich man where we dey go pluck mangoes when we small and we heard he has a gun. I just think the condition for gun ownership is very stringent and involves a lot of man know man

It will definitely run once attention returns to it. We buy when no one is buying and sell when they start buying.

If I must buy NOT, it will have to pull back significantly. Once I've missed a runner, I don't chase it.

You are still very early on NOT. Still at 0.02, still very early it wont return back to that dip level.

I honestly do not have knowledge of the US legal system, my response to him was from the Nigerian legal system point of view.

Omo that their US na another continent on its own sha cheesy

Another planet. I watched a video where they asked an American marine sniper what the best self-defense was if one was attacked. The guy said you should just walk away.

You might be facing a man who just gave his last phuck the day before and has no more phucks to give. In a country with more guns than people that is a risky move.

this is a quote from Jurassic park

Most kinds of power require a substantial sacrifice by whoever wants the power. There is an apprenticeship, a discipline lasting many years. Whatever kind of power you want. President of the company. Black belt in karate. Spiritual guru. Whatever it is you seek, you have to put in the time, the practice, the effort. You must give up a lot to get it. It has to be very important to you. And once you have attained it, it’s your power. It can't be given away: it resides in you. It is literally the result of your discipline.

Now what is interesting about this process is that, by the time someone has acquired the ability to kill with his bare hands, he has also matured to the point where he won't use it unwisely. So that kind of power has a built-in control. The discipline of getting the you so that you won't abuse it.

But scientific power is like inherited wealth: attained without discipline. You read what others have done, and you take the next step. You can do it very young. You can make progress very fast.

There is no discipline lasting many decades. There is no mastery: old scientists are ignored. There is no humility before nature. There is only a get-rich-quick, make-a-name-for-yourself-fast philosophy.

Cheat, lie, falsify--it doesn't matter. Not to you, or to your colleagues. No one will criticize you. No one has any standards. They all trying to do the same thing: to do something big, and do it fast.

"And because you can stand on the shoulders of giants, you can accomplish something quickly. Yon don't even-know exactly what you have done, but already you have reported it; patented it, and sold it. And the buyer will have even less discipline than you. The buyer simply purchases the power, like any commodity. The buyer doesn’t even conceive that any discipline might be necessary.”

“I’ll make it simple,” Malcolm said. “A karate master does not kill people with his bare hands. He does not lose his temper and kill his wife

. The person who kills is the person who has no discipline, no restraint, and who has purchased his power in the form of a Saturday night special. And that is the kind of power that science fosters, and permits. And that is why you think that to build a place like this is simple.”

it takes much more will to beat a person to death, even to machete a person to death, but a gun it makes it easy and does not allow you to think about consequences. just squeeze the trigger - and a life is ended

It is not a sporting event. Adults should never fight unless they are willing to live with the unpredictable and often tragic consequences.

my son is currently at blue belt i think. i have told him that no matter how he is provoked, he must avoid violence because he is likely more capable of harm than the person pissing him off and more likely to be blamed if someone is hurt, especially if there are no videos of the ENTIRE sequence of events

I didnt know that law was passed because many of the elite Nigerians I knew growing up owned guns. All them Obasanjo Soyinka Tai Solarin have all given interviews in the past that they owned guns

All the former owners did they give back their guns?

What of hunters, and people in rural areas with dane guns?

I think that Buhari rule is to favor herdsmen, because these herdsmen still strap and display their guns proudly while the locals its illegal to carry gun

Fist fights give the guys with physical endowments abslute power to terrorize and bully. Remember the bully in the Ice cube Friday movie series Deebo, You will become their bitch forever

There are many of them who wont stop, because they know they are stronger and even if you ignore them, they continue pushing your buttons because they know you cant stop them

I have a friend whose wife was very petite and the teenage and early 20s area guys were trying to bully her thinking she was their mate, the day she flashed them a small handgun that was the day the nonsense stopped, without that deterrence some of those bullies might become bolder and try getting physical

I thought the essence of learning martial arts is for defense, So when you say he shouldn't defend himself even when provoked why is he now learning

Also you know young people can be annoying as fvcck to themselves, you can rationalize it or talk with calm head when you are the father and not in the situation but when its going down they are taunting him insulting him, Its not easy to just maintain your cool, Those level headedness comes with maturity

And guns do the exact same thing as well. It is because people have access to guns they start shooting up schools. Or churches. Or movie theatres.

You can only beat up one person at a time. But you can carry an ar-15 and kill 200 people in 15 seconds

Unless of course the solution is that everyone carry a gun and body armor. Including children.

In public school bullying na normal way of life when you are perceived to be weak, When I was under 10yrs I was very thin and looked frail so I experienced it too, Some of those stocky and stronger guys will just provoke you needlessly so you can get into fights

When I got to secondary and grew way taller, the bullying stopped but my short friends suffered from bullies they either have to develop sharp mouth, become friends with another strong guy, or just continue running away

How will someone trained in martial arts resist the urge to defend himself

Because when you let loose and kick the person's ass, the story can change, especially if someone is injured. You are an American in the land of liability and you know how it goes. My father will sue geng. My son was throughly traumatised and humiliated by the bully who beat him up.

Equally important is you cannot say how escalation will go. The idea that once you beat someone up he will stay in his lane is a movie fantasy. The person could just as easily plan his revenge and wait for a time to jump you with four of his friends

Infact that happened to me in primary school. We had a neighborhood bully who ultimately was not particularly tough. I beat him up more than once in the neighborhood. But in school he had a friend who was a bloody giant. We were 8 years old at the time and this guy was already like 5 feet or taller. So when we were in school he would bring that guy to beat me up. I did not have my own 6 foot goon and it was not a a Saturday morning cartoon so I got my arse kicked.

Even if u own gun as a private citizen, u will still need to prove u shot on self defence basis. And to prove u shot for self defense, u will need to prove the other party was capable of harming u and even about to harm u before u shot.

If ur fellow man punch u and out of anger u shot him back na jail straight. The law will not permit u to be shooting everybody that throws a blow at u.

If the guy with the gun is a security agent empowered by the law of the land to effect an arrest while the other guy on boxers shorts is a criminal; he can claim he was trying to arrest a criminal who resisted arrest and he had no choice but to apply maximum force.

However, if they were both civilians then the guy with the gun has just committed manslaughter irrespective of the fact that the guy on boxers attacked him first.

U can't use self defense as an excuse if the proportion of defence is not commensurate with the proportion of the attack launched on u by the other party. For example, if I slap/punch u and u decided to shoot me because u have a gun in ur possession, the law will not accept ur defence that all u did was self defense. In the face of the law ur act will be deemed as manslaughter. U can't use gun to fight me wey punch u na
I disagree
You can slap me and the slap is fatal
I can lose my hearing or enter coma on process

Loaded his gun and was prepared in case there is an escalation. Just the same way you will load your gun when going into an uncertain and likely volatile situation. e.g you hear noise at your door at night, you load your gun. If its a friend you smile laugh and move on, if its a robber then Ina lilahi..

When the trigger is squeezed in panic, he can release, its not like he had to go reload like in a shotgun
I thought there is something like warning shot on US law
He didn't apply that
