Tell people to go into farming now, they'll tell you you want to bring them back to the stone age. Even if it is for subsistence, you can plant the following: 1. Pepper 2. Tomato 3. Okro 4. Vegetables 5. Yam 6. Corn (in season) 7. Cocoyam 8. Plantain 9. Banana 10. Pawpaw 8 Likes |

Weldone @OP Keep up the good work, instead of complaining about prices of tomatoes in the market, you are actually doing something about your situation. I am following this thread. Kudos! 6 Likes |

Bluntemperor:Very valid points Sir, and with the way things are going with the proposed "GMO" seeds importation and the insecurities going on in core farming states nationwide and the rising inflation. It will be seriously unwise to depend on your money alone to purchase food or foodstuffs in this country. 1 Like |

Bankowner: Nor mind them, they would rather : 1. Complain 2. beg 3. pray 4. Do nothing 5. Wallow in self pity All the above produce zero result Collective productivities of individuals equals the success and productivity of the nation herself. 1 Like |

Sapasenator:I know how productive it is because I did it during the pandemic. I harvested yam, corn, pepper, vegetable, and okro that lasted my family for days. I didn't have to bother about those items when it came to grocery shopping. And the vegetable, pepper, and okro were farm fresh too. 2 Likes |

Bankowner: I agree with you, even on a subsistence level, we can still plant something. I am fascinated with farming if I have the opportunity. My mom used to plant Ugwu, bitterleaf, pepper and tomatoes those days and it went a long way to help in the family. We have no business with hunger in Nigeria. 1 Like |

Thugnificent:It was self-fulfilling harvesting these crops back in 2020. I had yams that my family ate for a long while. I harvested pepper when I needed it, same as okro and corn. |
