I know how productive it is because I did it during the pandemic. I harvested yam, corn, pepper, vegetable, and okro that lasted my family for days. I didn't have to bother about those items when it came to grocery shopping. And the vegetable, pepper, and okro were farm fresh too.

I agree with you, even on a subsistence level, we can still plant something. I am fascinated with farming if I have the opportunity. My mom used to plant Ugwu, bitterleaf, pepper and tomatoes those days and it went a long way to help in the family. We have no business with hunger in Nigeria.

It was self-fulfilling harvesting these crops back in 2020. I had yams that my family ate for a long while. I harvested pepper when I needed it, same as okro and corn.
