The places they are running to, they would still need to work their ass off because no free things even in Freetown.

I am not discouraging those who want to Japa oo, but before you Japa, make sure you have degree/certificates that could earn you jobs immediately you arrived at your destination, have skills about things that can fetch you money.

No matter the certificates and skill you have, you have to endure between 3/4 and 1 year on arrival to get something 'good'. Just zero your mind you are going to start life afresh, but the truth is, this 'afresh' is equivalent to starting as an assistant manager in a Nigerian bank. Do the maths.
But it is always good to think am front and back, it is not a move for everybody. If you can't put your pride in check, and be ready to rid yourself of corrupt practices and crime, then just stay back in Nigeria. Also, if you have a job that pays minimum of 3m in Nigeria, and you live in a very posh and secure place, and you can manage to live a quiet life devoid of womanizing and reklessness, then you may remain in Nigeria. but you see the matter about securing a future for your children, sometimes your money may not save them from that if they remain in Nigeria. They may end up in some cults or evil clubs like gay club to be able succeed with less stress in Nigeria.

Nigeria matter complex abeg, and it seems not to favour the upright.

No it is not. My Canadian PR is being processed (Express Entry), I will be doing medicals and biometrics this month... it is NOT 15 - 20 million Naira for the processing. The whole processing fees cost around CAD$1,450

Wow! Congrats brother. That's one thing some people don't know. Relocation is all about getting the right information. Some persons think you need 20-30 million to japa. Far from it. They don't just know the right route and the right information. Like me, my visa fee will cost me $3100 USD minus other miscellaneous fees for assessment and the rest.

It's just lack of information that make some persons think one needs up to 20-30 million naira to japa.

It's all about common sense and the right information. I am currently on my own process but not Canada though.

There's nowhere in the world minimum wage gets anyone a decent apartment. You people seem to misunderstand what minimum wage is meant for.
Why do you argue blindly

500 pounds can get u a decent I bedroom apartment in most cities in the uk

Minimum wage is 11 pounds at 50 hours weekly work that's over 2000 pouds after tax

So it is now 50 hours and no longer the 40 hours you mentioned earlier, mrvitalis?
Are you aware that even the government makes a distinction between "minimum wage" and "living wage", with the latter being higher.

You really think someone earning 300,000 Naira in Nigeria - 10 times the minimum wage - will fair a lot worse than a minimum wage earner in the UK?
If you believe this to true, you need to get out and interact more with the real world.

Are you doing it yourself or paying someone to do it for you?

I feel like there might be a reason for the cost difference. From what I’m hearing there are people who are doing it for immigrants and that’s where the cost lies

Those two japa'd at a point in their lives. Dangote is an exception as he comes from a wealthy family. His uncle was once one part of Nigeria's richest men.

I think you should be more worried about Eru, Oru, Osu all over Nigeria that made success out of themselves unlike in Europe and America.

Dorm account is scary Sha. I predict that Tunubu will shut down dorm accounts soon. The best would have been crypto but unfortunately a lot of exchanges are shutting down naira peers. I think only bybit still has naira/usdt pair but I doubt it will last longer.

Exactly brother. Crypto would have been better. But the government don't just want the youths to thrive with crypto. That will have been better, but it is what it is.

I just pray that they won't do any foul thing to dorm accounts.

U're 100% correct. That's the delima most of us here in America have. We raised children that will never come back to live or work in Nigeria. They're lost generations & end of our linage. The fear of loneliness at old age is palpable.

This is more than just an exposé. Japa is not restricted to the poor people looking for survival alone, middle and high income earners are also involved now so they can have less years to take care of their children before they (their children) become independent to fend for themselves.

Going via which means?
Because you listed one and it was 1million dollars requirement and anyone that has such money won't be fighting hard to get visa and settlement permit in most developed countries.

If u know when men don de apply for visa.. USA, Canada Australia etc

express entry do at least once a month draw
I get it, the scores are high, but they are attainable IF husband and wife put in the work
and I remember mentioning express entry as one route to enter...
most Nigerians and by extension Africans are mentally lazy... it is something I always say with my full chest, that is why we have so many people going through short cuts and why "agent business is booming" in Nigeria

anything that involves rigours and burying your head down to make months of research and putting in work, most people are not ready to do it...
it the low hanging fruit by virtue of their laziness they go for.

express entry is there
Australian skilled migration is there
people are migrating with their families to gulf states because they applied and slugged it out for work opportunities , especially in Bahrain and Qatar....

After working for a few years they acquire citizenships of these Caribbean country for themselves and family

UK has the global talent program
how many Nigerians are willing to put their head down for it ?
as south Africa is struggling
some Nigerians still got the "critical skills visa" then (I don't know if they are still giving it) and they moved to SA.....

Nigerian medical professionals moved to Botswana then (I don't know if it is still applicable now) and from therr found their way to America

but no, fvckin Nigerians with no sense and lazy man mentality for quick things will not "put head" there

Obviously u don't understand how western world works.
Just cos u hv degree certificates or very handy doesn't give u the authority to jump into the work force & start earning money. Ur host country has to permit u to work & it has a lengthy process which could take yrs ,depending on the type of visa u have.

I think our people are so focused on finding white colar job which has become very competitive to land a good one.
An experienced software developer, someone I call boss who has worked in the fin tech sector for years in Nigeria, after moving to the UK, he decided not to even work, I mean like the regular office work. He was like the take home pay after tax deduction is bad for him judging from his bills. So, he opted to working on contract bases which he said pays him better.
I think our people arent creative to take advantage of a working system and build structures and solid business. They migrate and still continue the white colar job mentality which has become very competetive and start earning low and have to double work to earn more and meet up.

we have no sense of community here

People who amount to anything do not reason like you, because the mentality stinks more than agree septic tank plus Ojota landfill put together.

That’s pretty cool
Re: Japa: People Now Liquidate Investments, Savings To Leave Nigeria — Ali Baba by Mcslize: 8:49pm On Jun 09
Benjamin4388:

so what's the money range then ?

We don't really calculate it by range. We calculate it by the list of things you need to do to get your visa to your chosen country.

First, it's not even about the money alone. It's most importantly about you being qualified to even relocate by having the right work experiences or educational qualifications and being within the required relocation age bracket. That's the first thing to consider. If you have that, 50% of the process is solved.

The next will be the whole process of what you need to do. Now, using myself as an example, English test will cost me $200 USD, assessment of my educational qualifications will cost me $700 USD, invitation to apply fee will cost $200 USD and the main visa proper which will happen to be Permanent resident visa will cost me $3100 USD. Now, add everything together, that should be $4200 USD for the whole process. You don't even need to show proof of funds for this part.

After getting your visa, you will now factor in your flight money, rent and upkeep money for like 3-6 months.

So, you see, the whole visa process alone isn't more than 7 million if you convert that 4200 USD. It's just a step by step process something. They no dey rush am. Na small small. That's why I said the most important aspect of the whole process is you qualifying first. Cuz not everybody have the right skills, experience and educational qualifications to japa.

My qualifications can get me through the skilled migration route. So, this part will be more cost effective for me.
