Lolz, I think our understanding and beliefs are quite different. A laugh when people say Thier unborn children. But anyway, I still maintained that other countries will soon be willing to come to Nigeria of tomorrow, very soon. Afterall, japa is all about money making and security.

Brother that's a big lie. Nigeria will never be great now with all these corrupt leaders. It will be great of course but not in this our generation. Maybe in the coming generation.

Remember, Nigeria gained independence since 64 years now. Let me burst your brain: in the next 36 years, Nigeria will still not be great, bet me. By then, Nigeria will be 100years old and I am telling you that, it won't be great with the levels of corruptions.

The only thing that will make Nigeria to be great as soon as possible is revolution and we are not ready for that now.

Just fyi, anybody making below average of 60,000 yearly is a lower class in the uk this i know

Let's always get our facts right before making any statement online. Middle class salary range in the UK is from 30k to 60k. Anyone earning that amount is not lower class.

Make sure you have an open contract that you can leave the company for another one any time. I am sure you will get better offers in less than 6 months if you come over here.

If anybody advises you not to come to UK, know that na your village Pipu send the person

Success is not a function of geographical location.

Anyone bringing small children to abroad is risking it all. The probabilies to lose them to the system is higher.

Most of their own kids over there turn delinquent. The few serious ones are the one running the affairs of their countries.

That is where Nigeria is lacking. The worst of Nigerians are ruling, that is why we are where we are.

Most of their children do not speak proper queen English. People get fooled by their accent, which is mostly rash accent. Imagine someone educated loving the way thugs who sleep under the bridge speak in Nigeria.

Language is never a demonstration of being intelligent, and some of their schools are known for notoriety but our people do not know. Once they have one or two whites in a class along with their kids, they start to gloat. Inferiority complex.

You do not know how i feel when their children clean my workplace and serve my coffee. grin grin cheesy cheesy

2000 pounds a month is very low in the UK currently. But if you are industrious, plan on rasing a family and giving your children fair opportunities, the UK is the better option for now. Nigeria will be "great" but it will still take quite a long while .
£2000 is very low? How much do you earn in the UK or want to earn? and in which kinda Job?

£2000 is so small? So how much do you earn? and in which kinda job? How many hours a day do you work? Do you earn £2000 after taxes or before? £2000 a month is very okay for some of us after taxes.

Wishfull thinking, who is offering you a £2000 job in the UK? What kind job would that be? £2000 after taxes or before? You would have to work so much bloody hours to earn that much you will not have a social life kids or girlfriend, just work, work, work and work, before taxes of even after.

That depends, is this pre tax or post tax? Also where in Nigeria/UK are you living in. Do you have a family? Overall i believe N500K is sufficient in Nigeria, that’s N6M a year. A 3 bedroom apartment in Lagos on average is about N2.3M, you still have about N4M. £2000 might seem like a lot but taxes and rent will eat deep into it.

Lol... Let's assume that 2k is after tax because it's easy to make 2k after tax.
Let's also assume the person is single.

Rent would cost about £600..
Feeding about £100
Transportation about 100 pounds
Let's now budget £200 charity and extra expenses

Total is £1000

The person now has a balance of £1000 to save.

Let's assume he saves only 800 and spends the other £200 on his family back home.

The 800 he has saved translates to about 1,500,00 (One Million Five Hundred Thousand Naira) Only. In one year he would have saved 18 million Naira.

The man who earns 500k in Nigeria, even if he saves all his earnings which is impossible, whenever the man in the UK returns he would do things that the man in Nigeria cannot even imagine.

Are you saving it here so you can spend it there?

The same 300 you're saying here, they can also save the % overthere.

Question goes back to, can you actually live a comfortable life with 1700 out of 2000?

Someoen earning ₦500k can comfortably save ₦80k+₦100k too while living a more comfortable life than the one earning 2000 and saving 300

it was the original poster who said you would have 1700 expenses out of 2000. Note that 1700 GBP quality of life in the UK would beat 500k NGN quality of life in Nigeria.

your savings do not matter as they aren't expenses. you can choose to spend your 300 GBP savings in Nigeria and spend your 100k NGN savings in the UK.

If I give my opinion, the 500k in Nigeria is still okay; if it was not this time because of the inflation. The 2k in UK looks okay because if you calculate it based on the number of hours worked; it is an easy and fair job.

The only thing that I will make me take the uk option is that if I am single; it gives me room to source for another job with ease; unlike in Nigeria, it will be hard. The only disadvantage is the issue of more tax! Anyway, I will still go for the UK; because of the opportunity to meet more people from other race and exposure that can help in the long run if you are serious and patient about career growth!

500k in Ibadan is an excellent idea! 2000GBP UK is too poor. It will be living in penury- from hand to mouth. You will barely save 100GBP after monthly bills.

My advise to you is, never jump into a water head on if you can't see the bottom clear.
Just fyi I know people who are in the UK 10 years and nothing.
If you don't have the right map planned out no enter UK say 5 years u go be odogwu . Ur eye go clear.
I know people when dem hear olokpa dem dey run for tht UK because dem no get papers. Make sure you get your sources right B4 you Waka infact as of now, jobs no even dey UK no better job self the job market right now is trash but if you say I don't know what I am saying, then you are 1000% right besides who am I to argue with you.
Na only people wain get relatives for the UK go understand. If you are smart enough you go know. Just ask those people you know wain dey there.
You go work see the money but as the money enter hand e don finish BILLS. Money no dey stay hand for UK with 3000 monthly self you can't save lol

What are the bills you guys keep repeating? You pay higher for those same bills in Nigeria without knowing. It's thesame narrative whenever such threads come up. You ask them what these bills are and they start saying tax e.t.c forgetting that effective taxation is one of the strong pillars of wealth distribution you see in the West. Anyone migrating to the west should be thankful of their tax system if not there'd be nothing to enjoy there.

Why not listen to those who have lived in both nations?

One cant save on £3000? Do you think pounds is tissue paper? Let me ask, what do you think is the take home pay of an MP (fairy equivalent to a senator) in the UK?

I was earning above the equivalent of 500k today when I relocated to the UK years back. I can tell you I'd take 1500 in the UK above 500k in Nigeria. It's a no-brainer especially for a single person.
