Hello house, Please I just deferred my school admission to August 2025. When is the best time to apply for visa to get a date before my resumption? I am hearing that available dates are now November 2025, how true can this be? Someone help |
Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by OyoTunjiUSA(m): 1:54pm On Jun 11 |
tyconceptNG: Hey 🤠 1. The November 2025 tips is true but as a prospective student VISA applicant you will be given the priority to attend your F-1 VISA interview at worst via Emergency Appointment option when its time . 2. The best time to apply for your VISA is from May 2025 but prior to that period you can be using the reschedule option in your cgi portal to search for nearer date and be targeting May/June / early July. 3. If by late May 2025 your reschedule appointment option has not yielded your desire date then apply for emergency appointment . Be certain that you have paid SEVIS fee and keep your updated I-20 handy. ** Ask questions relating to F1-VISA in the student section next time. ** Use the available time to engage in mock training. Best Wishes 🙏 |

Hello, please if someone was refused visit visa last year and wants to reapply now , is it best to still apply as a tourist or using invitation by a family friend ? Btw last year no travel history but now has travel history |

meljoe: Hey 🤠 To me, none of the above. 1. Find an international conference or seminar that is very related to your job, works , skills or career and apply. Invitation letter to attend large public event is 80% better than an invitation letter from just an individual family or friend. 2. Alternatively, you can find a very short professional training program or courses of like 4 - 8 weeks related to your career and apply to. * Since the COVID-19 pandemic, you have to be a very wealthy Nigerian with stronger ties before your story of 3 weeks tourist/ vacation in the USA can make VISA issuance senses in front of a consular officer. Best Wishes 🙏 |

meljoe:There is truly no “by family friend invitation” category. The interview will be adjudicated on still in the tourist category. Home ties; income source(s); and disposable income for trip weighs more than “trip intention” (which is all invitation can offer) on the VOs decision making. If and when reapplying, focus on those. Nice brownie points with travel history. 1 Like |

meljoe: Hey 🤠 1. Its still the same even if she is in Canada because she is still using a Nigerian passport. She must now be careful if applying from the UK because the consulars understand such move as Forum Shopping. 2. Traveling all over the world or having many visas before applying for USA visa is now kind of counter productive If your traveling all about does not have meanings. ** She can attempt on academic based travel from the UK. Best Wishes 🙏 1 Like |

Here is a date search group for Lagos embassy. anyone interested in searching for closer date can join. Group is for first applicants not for dropbox

Re: USA Visit Visa Part 4 by OyoTunjiUSA(m): 11:20pm On Jun 11 |
meljoe: Hey 🤠 1. My best pick would be to apply on anything related to school visits, ie departmental or faculty tour etc that will have the consent of her present school in the UK. 2. 2nd best would be visiting family friend but she should not rush to that if she is in her first year or just started schooling not up to a year. That school is her only tie to the UK and she might decide to not return back to study. Best Wishes 🙏 |

I wanted to share an update on this case so others in similar situation can learn from the experience: 1. I made the IW submissions on behalf of the 3 of us at the DHL Office in Abuja. 2. The appointment confirmation letter/email (that contained the error) was not requested, just the DS-160, the Passports and Passport Photograph. 3. The visas were issued except mine that returned a 221g (long story) but that has also been issued. 4. Timeline of submission -took exactly one month for the issued visas and an additional one week for my 221g. Very special thanks to everyone that offered suggestions when I first brought the matter here. While I advise that applicants should ensure that they check their submissions for errors, a typo in the appointment data would not affect your submission. Goodluck to everyone applying. fcisca: 4 Likes |

Hello guys, Please I have a question for the group. I will be in Nigeria for about a month and I would like to renew my student VISA. Does anyone know what the date availability for IW for F visa is in Abuja? And how long will the dropbox process take? Thank you. |

Hello, Please i am trying to book an IW appointment (in Lagos currently) but i didn’t realize how much things have changed with dates and all. I am unable to view IW appointment dates even though i qualify from the eligibility criteria. From the fee receipt, it just takes me to ‘schedule consular appointment’ stating applicants for US visa are required to appear in person for a visa interview at the US embassy……… Please I need guidance on how to get to the IW appointment date request or booking. Will appreciate your help. |

Niksie: Single application or family? If it is single you shouldn't be seeing that. Answer all the questions as prompted. Select all visa without interview. They will send you a mail to schedule an appointment. Note: You can't see any date until the request for scheduling is approved. 2 Likes |

Thank you so much for your response. I answered all the IW questions and next thing it took me to fee receipt so i wasn’t sure if I have already requested for their approval just by answering the IW questions and confirming that I am eligible. This is a single application. But please does application with dependent(husband main applicant and wife as dependent) automatically mean no IW appointment approval? flourishing247: |

Hello, my appointment for the US b1 visa is for June2025 in Lagos and I am worried. - is the Abuja preferable to Lagos? -Any tips on how to get a more closer date like say; Nov, Dec 2024 or Jan2025? -Also how can one use the reschedule option? -What does it mean to if I go ahead to cancel my appointment? What are the advantages and disadvantage to it?. if I go ahead to cancel the June2025 which I am scheduled for, will I still get the same june date if cannot get a closer/early date of Nov 2024,Dec2024 or Jan2025? PS- I don't want the emergency route I anticipate your feedback Flourishing247 OyotunjiUSA Fkj950ax Meljoe |

Niksie: Imput your receipt and follow the prompt from there. If you are applying as a family then you need to create profiles for each person using their individual emails. |
