When there's no power, it's very obvious that capitalists will take their companies out of the country. Or to reduce size of their offices.

I like what is happening to us and Africa in general,we are too dependent on foreigners for everything,we have stubbornly and lazily refused to grow, let us take a cue from China and see how those guys went from being dependent to self dependent now,let us learn, Nigeria and Africa is a big disgrace,we can't even farm our own foods to eat with all the massive lands at our disposal,it is a big shame,we are waiting for people from outside to solve our problems.

Finally, Guinness broke the ice. No more speculations. They're leaving for another African country, sadly just like others who left last year did.

No multinational will ever come back once they leave. Nigeria is collapsing before our very eyes cos of bad leadership

Downsizing is always allowed. So, Mark visited this office when he came to Nigeria? To an extent, e make sense working here. You’ll never physically see your CEO unless on special occasions. E fit be four days out of three years wey employee here go see Mark face-to-face.

That is what Many don't understand, especially the Elections losers, but always blaming govt of the day!
It's In their Characters - they even blame Lagosians who voted them , they still blame the People.
The events of COVID-19,has made many Corporate Organisations to shrink their ways of using the Properties for Offices, even more so now,as the World is Changing- Stay home and do your Work, except you are in the Banking and other Financial Sectors.

NuCypher:
Naturally, Nigeria has no hope tech-wise. Outside of the so-called fintech companies whose co-founders are simple money-grabbers or sexual molesters, it's hard to put a pin to anything of tangible worth happening in the Nigerian techspace. At the moment, it's all just an illusion. If it's not e-commerce, it's fintech. That's about it. Tech is much more than that. Tech is innovation. Yeah, perhaps there are pockets of innovation here and there. There's hardly anything tangible coming out of the so-called Nigerian Silicon Valley of Yaba. Obviously, this has become clear to Microsoft and to Meta, hence the scaling down.

If Nigeria wants to be taken seriously, then its needs to start prioritizing real innovation that solves its own local problem. E-commerce solves no problem in Nigeria, as Jumia will readily attest. it has been a struggling company since its creation. Fintech is hardly Nigeria's problem. Maybe it is in a small measure, but on a grander scale it hardly is. There are no real capital opportunities in Nigeria. As a result, companies like Risevest and Piggyvest are having to invest OUTSIDE of Nigeria. So, how does the tech space expect to grow?

Real problems like very poor doctor-to-patient ratio, wide availability of bad drugs, unavailability of drugs in remote locations, adultrated products, etc all need real tech solutions that are unfortunately not coming, are underdeveloped, or not easily accessible.

1. Nigeria's economy is currently anemic.
2. Tech is a risky investment class and the zaddies funding the promising starlets have pulled back and can tap into brighter opportunities elsewhere; from AI to Energy to Bioscience to Space.
3. With minimum wage at $20, the market to support some of the tech solutions you put forward does not exist.

In the best of times, tech in Nigeria is a very hopeful, long-term play and that is putting it charitably. Maybe you get a beachhead here, then use whatever you build as a springboard to tap dance into other African economies and beyond.
But these are not the best of times. Not in the US, not in China, maybe in India, but certainly not in Nigeria.

-Lord

Unfortunately, the youth and mid age that should be more concerned are busy fighting themselves over trivial issues such as tribe. The current leadership isn't showing any concern for their failures and we who should hit the streets are busy fooling ourselves. It is well.

As in ehn....Majority of these 9ja tech start ups like to overdo..Always want to live & behave like established tech companies abroad. Reason why they always end up crashing or astronomically increasing the price of thier service which ends to lost of customers.
