Sometimes it does. Sometimes it doesn't. Depends on who is applying the strict measures and the spirit with which he applies it. There's no success without discipline and sacrifice.

Coaching is not really the problem of the Eagles. The team has been on a downward spiral from the last days of Rohr and no coach has seemed to get it right.

The previous coach had a score of 2/6 in WCQ while Finidi finished with 1/6.

I don't expect any miracles from the next coach as the team is very low in confidence.

Meanwhile...

The new coach would need to be a bit strict and brutal ,

If I were to b d new coach,I will make sure all dis content creators we parade as players need to sit up or Dey re shipped out of d team; reduce / eliminate unnecessary interviews(camp rules will b tightened a bit)

Search for more dedicated players that re ready to spill deir last sweat on d pitch(we av so many players inching to be invited to showcase what Dey can offer)…presently we av too many comfortable, unprofessional and unproductive players in our team. That needs to stop 🛑 .

Those pushing amunike down our throats don't mean well for the super eagles at all

Amunike would've even done worse compare to finidi
A Tanzanian journalist has warned against hiring him

Na lie. It's all theory. Amunike is probably a better pick. Don't say he's certainly a better pick. You can only say he's a better pick when he gets there and performs.

No more theories based on potential and past records. The man who gets in the saddle and rides the horse to destination is the better pick. A man is not the better pick because the man who was picked failed. No!
With the caliber of players we have, a good coach will fail. If you like hire Guardiola. Players make coaches. Finidi may not be a sound coach but the players on the field of play should not be absolve of blame because they execute the major task. Let's stop blaming only the coaches

There is no guarantee that Amuneke was going to do better but remember Finidi was chosen through a skewed process..no interview was conducted..the metric used to justify his selection was continuity. It was a big gamble that has backfired and the backlash is justifiable.

Not a fan of local coaches.

He should be our first choice cuz he would have saved us against South Africa and Benin abi 😝….I watched him very well in series A and I want to say he did very well and am impressed with him but you know what he is not better than Nwabali.

Those two are enough. That Faso one fell off i think.

If NOTHING IS AT STAKE, then we can, as Goodjoe keeps insisting, give Amunike his chance and let his results talk for him

But World Cup is at stake

A 2nd Time!! And this time against teams we should not be losing to?!!

There is always something at stake. When Finidi was employed, the World Cup was at stake.

How come when it comes to Amunike, stake now matters?

Nice post.

Read an interesting comment that he got Cameroon playing impressive possession football. The person actually described it as (playing like prime Barcelona).

If he really plays impressive possession football, we will see how he fares.

The red flag I read is that he uses 4-4-2 formation and from a possessive perspective, it puts us at risk because basic possession footie teaches how to break 4-4-2 formation.

Let us see how it goes.

My brother, it matters o.

Even in our different professions, a talented undisciplined staff will not last long while a hard-working disciplined though untalented staff will go a long way in the industry.

Honestly, most of these players are not disciplined at all, they behave as if there is nothing at stake. If they don't qualify for world Cup, na them sabi, it's their CV that's is affected, not mine.

Anyone who thinks SA, Rwanda, and Benin won't drop points (or lose some matches out of the remaining six)... is even more delusional than those who think Nigeria do not have a 50/50 chances of going to the WC.

Perception. How do our players perceive our local coaches? That's where local coaches fail or succeed. It's not about competence. It's perception.
meaning if they don't work on ego and cv, e go hard to establish control like Keshi, Amodu and Eguavoen.

And now that we are here, you consider hik the answers to thile disaster on ground?? For real?

Mind you, at the beginning if it was Amunike chosen, i have no p. He's the better of the two tactically. But now that we are here NOW, bringing up his name as the answer is a NoNo. The fact you're not considering it can even get worse is muzzin me.

That is not the issue.

Yes,all the teams on 7 points now will still drop points, issue is, will the Eagles take advantage?

Tell me u believe the team u saw against Benin can go all out and win their remaining matches.

For the records, we have played Lesotho, Zimbabwe, South Africa and Benin, teams we are always comfortable playing against, and we are yet to record 1 victory.

It is still the same qualifiers. No manager will wave a magic wand. And, yes, I would have preferred Amunike given the chance, knowing that we have a tough task ahead.

I have said many times I am not result oriented but performance oriented. France missed USA 94 world cup and won France 98. Those that went to 94 and did not win, did not still win France 98.

My problem is Finidi is not about the result but the football education he is passing. I am not seeing clean possession football and the build up play map looks terrible.

The aim should be having us playing well and building on it. With time the results will come.

Since we rarely follow due process, I wasn't keen on the process of selection. Finidi effed up. I am biased towards foreign coaches but when Eguavoen was appointed and we played good under him during the AFCON, I reconsidered my position and I was against his sack.

Upon the departure of Peseiro whom I wanted to stay, I was indifferent to either foreign or local coach. But once Finidi was appointed, I supported him wholesale.

But with his disappointing performance, abeg I'm back to default mode of supporting the appointment of foreign coach. Not on the basis of competence (even though this matters) but on the basis of how our players perceive them.

with the right coach YES
Been following SE handles on social media... one thing i always took from their interviews during AFCON was most of them emphasizing how Musa and omeruwo always gingered them... one even said they were trying to create same energy when they won it in 2013 so everyone is trying to do same

Trust me Musa and co may be useless but their impact can't be overemphasized.

plus everyone is saying the eagles were lackadaisical, I only saw players who are clueless because if a daft coach.... no formation for them to follow, just doing their thing.

look at the eagles at AFCON, the years I've been watching their football I've never seen a more determined squad, see them restrictly following formations, everybody giving their best.
A good coach would do wonders trust me.

Renard and Pedro Goncalves. But they may be overlooked cos we all know how those oldies in Glass house got loose screws in their skulls

Our players aren't as bad as you appear to portray. These same players got to the AFCON finals. Yes, they too are blame worthy in the situation in which we find ourselves but I don't think it's down to us having bad players. Did Benin defeated us with world stars?

Joe, this is not league football where time exists. Anybody that can't offer the Target should getat. And yet, waving magic wand in football exists. Do i need to explain this basic historical fact to you? It exist all around us. Same crop of players, diff managers(with limited time) but big results. Whatever happens after is not relevant as what will be remembered is you came, you saw and you conquered. Simple!!

The examples you're giving is pissing me off a little.

We missed tournaments but didn't come to win when we came back so we sef na example to use if the aim of that example is to show that MISSING OUT is no big deal. Lol. At the expense of teams like Benin and SA?? 🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣🤣

For the situation we are in now, i hate to repeat it but you're making me do

Amunike is NOT the Answer. He can't win 5/6 right now. Naaah. Beside, contrary to what you said, EVERYTHING is wrong with Finidi. We dey complain for white man too. So no be matter of preference for whoever. We screamed down Randy Waldrum's entire body frame when he was Messing up the female team till he downloaded sense. He has time. But for this very one, No Time to be using this volatile position to be finding lab scientists right now.
