I see a lot short gigs. Several backwater league titles. And an AFCON bronze several of our indigenous coaches have matched or even bettered.
Just a journey man experienced but lacking the profile good enough for a country like Nigeria. We can do far better.
won Spanish division 2 twice won Romanian league Afcon bronze, not a huge profile but if you can appoint Finidi and also have Amunike name whispered around the job then this is several steps an upgrade

true, at least most of these grade C European coaches have proved they can get us playing decently against African opponents, at least I’ll take that over what we got with Eguavoen Siasia and Oliseh

They will not hear. They will not compare Jpes and Rohr to the likes of Keshi and Amodu.
TheSuperNerd:
One of the top reasons I wanted both gone. Both had their positives and gave us joy in moments but both are poor in player profiling and a coach who is poor in that aspect cannot get the very best out of the Super Eagles.

But the fact that both went and Finidi came now make both look like Max Allegri and Sir Alex Ferguson. Rohr to Jpes and then to Finidi was an annoying art in coaching appointment downgrade.

If Antonio Conceicao is the man then fine, but he will only earn my respect by first coming in to stamp his authority on this bunch of overpampered players, no look person face or what club he plays for, if any player isn't up to it then DROP his azz. Infact he should start by weeding out deadweights like Ndidi, Iheanacho, Awaziem etc and others in that order who just come to camp to make up numbers. There's no basis for seniority anymore, you've got to earn your place. Now that NFF are serious about embarking on a concerted scouting programme for players across Europe etc who are eligible to represent the team, then they should also plan serious friendlies against top countries during the next available windows before the AFCON qualifiers start in September. We can use those friendlies to invite 90% of those new players. Time to see new faces like Elijah Adebayo, Chuba Akpom, Dominic Solanke (surely he should be considering Nigeria at this point in his career), Nathan Tella (needs to be fully accessed), Fisayo Dele-Bashiru (we need to see more of him in a midfield of new players), Felix Agu,Kingsley Ehibizue, Njinmah, Osho, Jordan Torunarigha, Akpoguma, Ndah, Gift Orban and any other Naija eligible player out there in those friendly games. Not forgetting others like Lesley Ugochukwu, Carney Chukwuemeka and Madueke if they want to take a shot at real international football and a world cup chance.

Antonio Conceicao can them have an idea of which players he can integrate into his full roster for depth when the AFCON qualifiers start, those AFCON games will show what depth and quality we can build ahead of the tense WCQ games next year. There's still enough time to fix the current mess Finidi has left us in, but NFF have to show they mean business by being proactive: announce the new technical adviser/coach, start an expansive scouting programme for players across Europe as soon as possible, and then schedule friendly games ahead of time.

😂

Finidi did not leave us in any mess. It is the way the NFF ran the Super Eagles for years that caused this mess. You are literally suggesting a program that will take time to implement and want Finidi to have turned things around with little time with players and very tight appointment time.

There are things we can criticize Finidi for but definitely, he did not create the current mess.

Our problem is we lack patience! A people without patience we achieve nothing!
You don't want Rohr, Paserio, Finidi etc. Who do you want? Pep? lol
Napoleon55:

His invitations are questionable, making series of mistakes, playing players out of position, and he is not interested in correcting his mistakes.
How do we support someone who will lead us to nowhere?

No coach will give you a good team with 2 days of training! International football is more about understanding one another not neccessarily calibre of players!
Boniface and Onuachu couldn't understand each other cos they had less than a day training. Who do we have on the bench? nobody!
mank1234:

Are you saying the opponents had better player than Nigeria? How many times did our two point men struggle for the same ball instead of one running behind in anticipation of a drop ball? That is a pointer that there was no pattern. They just assembled the team and let them play as they like.

God bless you. There you have it.
The summary of it all. The one and only reason a local coach will always struggle as a Super Eagles Gaffer unless he has godlike presence.
I think they need to attain heights in coaching world and a lil bit of popularity.. The perception would then come on its own.

Like most of you said, let's this coaches go and coach other teams out there, gain experience and become better ..

The rest of it would come naturally..

So u admit that those teams in the past that comprises of only players born in Nigeria are better than this current team that is mixed right?

That everything else in Nigeria have regressed is not an excuse, and it's not true.

We have artistes born locally here in Nigeria making waves globally, hitting more success, some of them winning Grammy awards, the topmost award in the global music industry, unlike in the past.
whether the music our artistes play today is of better quality than before is a topic for another day,
but in this state of affairs in Nigerian, they were able to achieve so much.

The same with our athletes,
Tobi Amusan is,or probably the best female hurdle athlete in the world.
Favour Ofili is coming up and proving herself to be among the best female athlete in the world.
our female athletic team is a potential Olympic medal winning team.

I believe our football team can achieve success also even in this present Nigerian condition when the right people will find themselves in charge.

You should always pay attention to detail and specifics. I used the qualifying diction, "ALMOST" everything.

The pertinent component that made the SE teams of 1994 and slightly beyond so successful was not 🚫 because they were born in Nigeria.

But QUALITY the Nigerian league produced players who went to the best teams in world football. The SE players at that TIME , were predominantly from top European teams some even top goal scorers in their leagues like Yekini. Ajax was a power house in world football at that time with players like Olise, Kanu, Tijani, Finidi etc We had the prince of Monaco Ikpeba, we had Jjay, Taribo all playing in top clubs.

It was not because they born in Nigeria, I mean there were a few not born in Nigeria who played like Efan Ekoku but not many.

Tobi Amusan was born in Nigeria finished secondary school in Nigeria. But then where has she been developing her talent and in the process getting a MSc from Texas university same university as Okagbare while Ofili is developing her talent at Louisiana university.

The place of Birth is inconsequential in her in athletic it's the place of development.

You mentioned 🎶🎵l agree 💯% these musicians artists are 1000% Naija signed created nurtured, developed, educated, and delivered to the World 🌎. They are the most positive export alongside Nollywood we have.

The place of birth is completely inconsequential and of no significance to determine commitment, integrity, desire, etc

The people who have raped this nation since it's inception were not born outside but within.

I don't think he was singularly responsible for players selection the NFF will still bring in their favoured ones .

The NFF is corruption ridden and has been for decades.

But sadly that mind set pervades every area of endeavour in Nigeria. Go and renew your passport 🛂 or car documents or try to get your transcripts from a Nigerian tertiary institution.

for a start the next coach need to throw Awaziem away, since 2017 or so he has never been a starter despite playing under 4 different coaches. His spot should be given to a younger and more productive defender

Shockingly 🥺🥺go and check how many games he played for almost relegation bound Boavista in the Portuguese league.

I’d like to believe Keshi wasn’t taken serious as a coach in Nigeria until he took Togo to the World Cup
Amunike helped qualify Tanzania that’s probably not a serious football nation to the Afcon in a long time they hadn’t done that
Amunike helped conquer the u17 tournament
I’m assuming he’s probably doing something on the side with regards to coaching in Spain
I think he can do something amazing with the eagles, some of them are products of the u17 process he managed or assisted in

Youth football is not senior football it's not the same AT ALL. It's not a basis for senior appointment to the SE.

Finidi made the mistake of playing both Ndidi and Onyedika in the same mid-field.The both failed to click as a double pivot.

Whenever they start together there is no clear definition of roles.

The pair did not click against Mali.

Against Mozambique a mid-field pivot of Onyeka and Onyedika clicked.

Our mid-field should have been Onyedika,Iwobi and Dele Bashiru.

or

Ndidi,Iwobi and Bashiru/Olawoyin.

If a midfielder has goals in his feet as you have put it , then it should be proven in his club and league. Do you agree 🤔.

So tell us how prolific he has been in the Belgium league with goals and assists please ❓ To prove your your notion, "Man has goals in his feet"

How we've evaded countries in the 3rd column for almost a decade beats me. With a good tactician, we can drag results in premium motivated mode. Even 4th column sef we no dey see.
