They started planning on how to mess the whole process up and see how they can weaken Russia without directly fighting Russia. This was the whole idea and that was how the idea to use Ukrain. Well, if not for how strong Putin is, this would have come to pass.

I said last year that the best thing Russia would do is be friend those smaller states that are enemies of the US, arm them and they would start hitting at US interests across middle east and Africa. I said it that Russia would start messing up with the interest of US, France, UK in Africa, Middle east, etc. When I wrote that, many people didnt understand.
Russia has started it. Russia is now bringing more deals to African countries that all these while only had their resources mined by the US and UK and France. This has led to recent political changes in west Africa. Russia is doing same in Egypt. Russia has been pushed to come out and play dirty like the US and this would champion another phase in human political and economic fontiers in the next 40 years.
Russia will do more and more. I sense deeper partnership with Cuba. Arming rebels and states that are enemies of the US.
Competiting directly with US companies that only take away natural resources in Africa.
Watch this space. Even if this war ends, a serious enemity has been created between Russia, China and the US. Russia is now all out to play the game. She will station more of her nuclear weapons outside Russia just like the US. She will arm many states who are not friends of the US and these states will arm their rebels who will hit at US interests in Middle east especially.
