A good read. Tiki taka just has to die for Spain to live.

One thing i hate with our game lately is we don't shoot like before. See how shooting full this Euros 2024 every corner. Shooting is frustrating big teams as small teams dey use am score too. 1st half 5 long shots/outside box. See Denmark today alone. I pity England for how disorganized they are. Everyone committed an error today except Watkins.

We don't shoot, we don't cross. We don't score from corners or free kicks

It seems highlights and kids these days forgot R9 was injury prone asf
He was nicknamed “The Phenomenon” for a reason though
He had everything: pace, skills, physique, shooting power
I just don’t think he was outstanding with aerial balls

Thanks for the post but it is just someone typing jargons. No disrespect to him. I will explain why.

He is telling us Spain is ditching the possession game, but telling us in their last 136 games, Spain has been a possession dominant team.

What he could not see was De La Fuente was also among the coaches that achieved that possession dominance for Spain.

Another, he said Lamine Yamal is one of the bright spots that has come out of ditching possession football.

Is that not a joke? Lamine Yamal is from Barcelona La Masia Academy. Groomed in the art of possession play. In club football, Xavi Hernandez who is a possession heavy master coach, gave Lamine his breakthrough.

So when did Spain ditch Tiki Taka? That is a hilarious point. Was De La Fuente not a possession heavy coach while he coached the youth ranks of Spain?

So now Spain won the possession game against Italy, will we say that Spain has picked the possession game?

Calm down abeg. Xavi was brought up with tikitaka but he didn't play any possession football when he was coaching Barca.

That Yamal came from La Masia doesn't mean he plays tikitaka. Fermin Lopez is another breakout kid under Xavi and that boy doesn't entertain any tikitaka nonsense.

If na CAF now, they'd not hold Copa America because it clashes with Euros

It's because most people worldwide would prefer to watch Euro than their continental cup. Though I don't believe CAF would cite that as reason if they decide to shift.

South America time zone is far away from European time zone, hence they won't be any clash in timing.

Let me quote the General Secretary

“We are talking with Uefa, because most of the players are playing in Europe, the European Club Association and also with Fifa in order to find [a] suitable date.”

Although not for Euros, CAF decided to host next Afcon; December - January 2026. Why? Because of Club World Cup 😭

That's because most players that would grace the tournament are playing in Europe. For the world club, African players are participating there. Football calendar is available many years ahead. So I still doubt CAF would shift continental competition due to ongoing competition in another continent that doesn't hve any direct effect on it.

If weather permits, this period is the best for AFCON. CAF and African countries should invest in building fully covered stadia.

Bros the top 3 contender for the job, according to the news I saw online this afternoon, are

Antonio

Sia1

And Salisu

Seems they are tryna follow Colin suggestion, cos if Antonio get the job, those 2 might likely be his local assistance

Finger crossed, we watch

We don’t even knw who to believe now…majority of the sport journalists close to nff are claiming dt all d headlines regarding engaging a foreign coach is false cos Dey re broke.none of them is saying oda wise, right from Collin udoh to elegbeteh and co

But sport sites are saying oda wise dt Dey are already discussing with a foreign coach already.

Xavi can not coach another way and note Barcelona DNA. From the children team, through Barcelona Atletic and the main team play possession football.

Rafa Marquez, the current Barcelona B coach is a possession football coach. So there is no way Lamine Yamal was not brought up that way.

cr7 is way better than r9. Please explain why an injury prone player would be better than playing the Goat in a team for the long term.

I think all round, R9 trumps CR7
You could never mark R9 out in a game
He had everything you would want in a striker and more..

I think for longevity and absolute dedication to the the game, no player dead or alive compares to CR7
CR7 might also be a marginally better finisher than R9
