I think you can verify through NYSC. Just send them a mail and they will guide you

Mail the University to verify.

Email the school through the office of the Registrar.

I have been verifying our employees certificates during recruitment using this method for years now.

Most times, it takes ages for the school to respond, just get the school phone number and out it on auto redial.

Most Nigerians are forging certificates these days. That thing is very useless at the moment

If the school has a student portal for academic profiles (most do), you can access the portal and download the profile with the matric number and other login details if you have them.

You can't tell if a cert is genuine or not by just looking at it.

You have to contact the school if you're serious.

Transcripts are not for fancy, they're made for issues as this.

Nigerian Universities have poor rating
Tier 1 (OAU, UNILAG, UI & FUTA)
All others are Tier 2. Tier 2 certificates needs Msc to be nominated for level one occupation with the exception of those that did 5 years courses .

the Easiest way is actually NYSC, there are sites where you can put the NYSC number to verify the candidate.

also you can Use SIWES, website. type the person name on google with the university, every Student that does 400level SIWES program in Nigerian Universitry, have thier details on that government dashboard, it will appear under SIWES in the google search.

Write to the institution directly through emails provided on their websites. The schools records department would respond to you. Note that they usually perform this service at a fee. HR of organizations usually requests these verifications from institutions as it is usually a prerequisite for confirmation.

You write a letter to the registrar for certificate verification. You will specify what u want to verify, therefore, the year of entry and graduation, class of degree. And any other u want but Theyll not give u a transcript,that's only for educational purpose.

This is where I respect WAEC. With just WAEC scratch card, you can verify the authenticity of WAEC certificates.

The Ministry of Education needs to team up with the NUC (and the commission that regulates polytechnics) to build a database of ALL certificates that both universities and polytechnics issued to students. Users wil buy scratch cards to verify certificates. This is another means of making money for the ministry of education.

To answer OP's question, the best bet is to physically visit the issuing institution because sending an email means they will reply you after two decades.

Just tell us that u run a certificate and wants to know if the certificate issued to you is fake genuine.
Write to the exams and record of the university.
But if it were for me to check I will write to the department. Those at exams and record dont carry the department along. They believe anyone writing to verify certificate will write to them only. To burst any oluwole certificate write to the department directly. Bypass Exams and Records.

The process should be made easier, so companies can employ those with genuine certificates.

Some days ago, there was a post that revealed many civil servants are working with fake certificates/degrees.
This is one of the reasons those in top positions will not want to move to digital ways of doing things.
Associations, e.g. ASUU, NLC, also fight this.
