true... very expensive (thus beats the purpose)

IPTV is a term for apps out there that will give you all the channels of the world on your device (premium Movie channels, premium sport, premium series and documentary, children and adult content etc from everywhere around the world... some are free, but most have a small fee. i pay €45 per year, for unlimited content... i wonder why people with unlimited internet still pay for cable TV. here is what i wrote on the subject a while ago:

I just downloaded IPTV on my Android phone. Please how do I add channels?

Hello, just installed my DSTV after a long hiatus since 2022, the decoder came on and began upgrading but it suddenly stopped sending signal to the TV, and showed a yellow light on the decoder, which refused to switch to green or red when the power button is pressed.

I've informed DSTV and they told me to bring the decoder tomorrow with the power adapter to their nearest office.

The installer is telling me the decoder probably hanged, and I might need to buy another decoder.

Abeg make una epp me oh, I just bought this decoder brand new in 2020 oh. So decoder go just spoil within 4yrs laidat ni?
Na you hang boot for two years. Who knows what could’ve happened then. If anything, I believe the decoder is now outdated. DStv routinely updates their Zapper hardware. I bought one in 2018. It was model 8b. I had to buy one in January, 2024. The new one was a 12b. Physically, it’s a smaller decoder than its predecessor. Customer care claimed it provides better picture quality. Nothing concern me, all I wan watch na BBC, M-Net and UFC.

I switched to IPTV live streaming by getting an android TV box last month. I also got Airtel 5G router. With the experience I have had so far; I WILL NEVER EVER GO BACK TO DSTV OR USE ANY CABLE TV.

I watch more of Geopolitics news and football but hate it that I can't have access to RT news which is my favorite news network. I hate all the CNN, Bloomberg, BBC, Reuter, DW, France24, Euronews, Skynews, Nbc, Fox new of this world

They are all western manipulation and propaganda machine. I despise them all. The only news source I consume are Russian RT news, Al Jazeera and Chinese CGTN. Since the start of Russo-Ukraine war, RT was banned from YouTube. I couldn't get it anywhere, DSTV use to show it but they stopped even long before Ukraine war.

Ever since I began Livestream I have access to RT news, I have access to all live sports for free, I stream blockbuster movies and even old movies from yesteryears.

Sometimes I wonder why it took me so long to discover this. At this point, I don't care how much I spend on data, (currently I do the airtel monthly 20k unlimited data subscription), as long as I have access to what I enjoy to watch. I will stick with streaming.

I am considering subscribing Mtn 1TB data plan for 100k.I think in the long run it saves money.

Don't think so especially if you are a heavy downloader and share internet with Family

Call me old school or stingy but if I am to advise people that have smart tv sets, get a smart tv that can upscale so you would just have to screen mirror whatever you want to watch from your phone to the tv. It is cheaper. Opening some of these apps directly from the tv set consumes a whole lot of data.

No need to screen or cast. That's old school!. All he need is a Smart box not Smart TV! Smart box consumes data at the same rate as the phone.

The Ops doesn't seem to know the difference between smart box and smart TV. Attached shows pictures of smart boxes. Been using mind for 8yrs now.

With smart box, you can even connect it to the old cathode ray tube TV.

Basically, smart box turns any TV to smart TV. Don't buy the "high end smart TVs". Just buy ordinary TV and a smart box Shikena.

The OPS doesn't follow simple instructions.

I also have smart TV at home, but I ignore the smartness in the TV, but instead use a smart box and use the TV as just ordinary TV.

How do I know which model mine is? And did yours give you any problem that you had to change it?

Also how much do you think I'll buy a replacement?
Re: My Experience Using A Smart TV by OCHKESTINE(m): 11:51pm On Jun 23
I did the MTN 1TB annual sub. My wife started running it down, I sharply calculated and limited the data to 4GB per day.

If she watch reach 4GB, the network begin frustrate her until she turn off the tv go rest.

It lasted for 9-10 months sha.

One of the problems in Nigeria is that Internet is too expensive. I pay just 20 quid monthly for unlimited Internet in Europe. I guess every home use a smart TV here and it is a big deal in Nigeria. So sad....

All your questions will be answered when the sun rises. Go to their office. I think I saw my model when I inspected the decoder. It had a sticker with the model number printed. The latest model, I checked the same sticker on the new decoder.

Why not subscribe to fiber one which is about 13k a month for unlimited data? Mtn and co also have their own fibers but only in lekki at the moment
Fibre one isn't everywhere. Only some selected states, and estates in those states.

Your mistake is using the smart TV pre installed apps. What guys with tech know-how are doing is just get Amazon firestick and connect to the TV, then subscribe unlimited data. With firestick it consumes less data and you still have more TV channels at your disposal. Do your research
Thank you for this.

@pocahontas consider this. If Airtel is okay in your area, the 20k unlimited works great. That's what I use and besides streaming content on smart TV everyone in the house connects to it on various devices. I was on the 20k for 200gb plan before so was combining it with DSTV to save data. Buy I stopped DSTV subscription when I discovered the plan. We now switch between Netflix, Prime Video, YouTube and other entertainment apps for content. Nobody missed DSTV. I consider cheaper since I work from home. No more different bills for work and entertainment.
I take it that you don't watch football.

Renew your DSTV and save yourself the stress. Until the cost of ‘good internet’ reduces or we get a close substitute to DSTV, let’s be humble and renew our DSTV.
Only football makes me still have my DSTV. I also resell IPTV but IPTV is not so reliable as it buffers sometimes depending on the channel (This has nothing to do with internet speed). Plus, your TV has to be able to install the IPTV so ur smart TV might not do the job unless you have an Android TV or an Android box/stick connected to your TV. It's not easy.😂 I have 4 routers

1. Spectranet - Best so far in terms of everything. But the max unlimited is 300GB FUP @26k monthly. They have spectranet fiber and home broadband which are cheaper but in selected estates

2. Swift - The worst! Truly unlimited but with snail speed

3. MTN 5g Router - Very fast But Very Expensive monthly for above 300GB

4. Tizetti - Complicated and Slow.

Starlink would have been best but for the high cost of purchase. I can only get it if u have perfect substitute to watching football on DSTV.

I use my LG smart TV with an unlimited data (just 10k for a month ) sub from a network I won't mention, because it's coded. I use IPTV that has all DSTV and world channels with the help of my android box.....with this combo you will trash your DSTV dish. IPTV is the present and the future of entertainment . It is that truly unlimited for 10k gan gan that I'm looking for.
Re: My Experience Using A Smart TV by tempatcetak: 12:48am On Jun 24
The experience of using a smart TV can be very enjoyable and practical. With the ability to connect to the internet, smart TVs allow direct access to a variety of digital content such as streaming video, social media applications and games. Features such as voice control or an advanced remote also make use more intuitive.

However, the experience of using a smart TV may also vary depending on the brand and model. Some things to consider are ease of interface navigation, internet connection speed, and availability of local applications or content. Overall, smart TVs provide great flexibility in customizing home entertainment, but also require an understanding of digital technology to optimize their use. wink wink wink

Bro, I need your IPTV provider let me use their 1month trial and decide if I will switch from my current provider. Though I still have over 8 months left on my current plan, but there’s this excessive buffering these days that I’m thinking it’s not caused by my network. Please how can I reach you privately.

smartIPTV has a 1 month trial , but you get no channels with it. my channel provider 1 month trial cost 10$. you 1st have to contact him on whatsapp and tell him which kind of channels and language you want, then he sends you one m3u link with all the channels that you desire (language, country, VOD, adult etc), then when you confirm that all the channels work on your IPTV provider, you pay him. 1 month 10$, 6months 30$, 1year 45$ and 2years 80$,
you can contact him via whatsapp +212 641770748 or Email: iptvmeowshop@gmail.com

I download movies and stream live football from an app (contains everything you can think of to watch) which makes life easy for me....
