Who's watching House of the Dragons?

Shows giving early signs of mid, and there's so many black characters, wonder if that's how it is from the source material...the black characters from the royal family are mixed breed, have pure white hair, yet from their skin tone it's clear they're proper blacks and not straight mixed breeds like they're supposed to be from their parentage...needlessly distracting if they went out of their way to cast black characters in white roles.

They are not black in the book. They are meant to look like the Targaryens since they also came from Valyria to Westeros (before the Targaryens actually), though they are not dragon riders.

House of the Dragon and Bridgerton are examples of affirmative action on steroids.

I think those Velaryon children are black because of their father Corlys. Or is Corlys not black in the book?

For the show, it does make sense though, their father is black and they did took their mom hair.

Dem go use wokeness spoil the show, people enjoyed GOT without all of this, so I don't know why they feel the need to insert what many would consider plot holes, like there's no way you'd have blacks and whites mixing like that in that era, so why include it angry

It's the same reason I've never bothered with Bridgerton, those sort of inconsistencies dey quick distract me from overall story.

E neva mid, but it's yet to pickup either, more like it's still riding on GOT's wave plus I didn't like how convenient it was for them to have the twins clash...I don't like how I'm feeling about today, lemme replace you at guard post next thing e jam e twin, fight to death cheesy

Corly Velaryon is not meant to be black. His appearance is meant to be similar to the Targaryens.

The thing is that the series is based on what happened in the book, they are actually following what happened in the build up to the dance. The death of the twins as they showed on the show happened very early also in the book before the dance started.

The acting, dialogue and casting has been superb for me though, that might just be me.

Yeah that's why I said it makes sense in regards to the show since Corly they casted is black.

NLC says Abia, Anambra, Bayelsa, Delta, Enugu, Imo not paying the 30k minimum wage. I'm sure that's for the Southern state alone.

If you go up North, the number of states currently paying the 30k minimum wage cant be up to 10.

Our leaders are just callous, wicked and inconsiderate.

Are these the Govs that want to be paying 100k salary? angry

The best move will always be for the FG and NLC to come up with a minimum wage for FG staff and private sector while each state should go and negotiate their own minimum wage with the state chapter of NLC.

The wickedness of our leaders is out of this world.

Though on Delta, I read a news article that Okowa approved the implementation of the new minimum wage in Jan 2020 few months after the new minimum wage was announced.

How NLC is now claiming Delta is not paying the same minimum wage today is what I don't understand.

My question is do they have different national minimum wage in countries like UK , US, Austrialia , Canada , Germany , etc ?

I mean like the US where we copied their Federal system of government , does minimum wage vary from state to state ?

From the best of my knowledge, the US has a national minimum wage, I think it's the benchmark that most states can't go below but each state does have their own minimum wage. (I stand corrected though)

I dont know about the other countries you mentioned.

But in Nigeria we have states who go below national minimum wage.

The funny thing is we have some jokers like Ned Nwoko clamoring for creation of Anioma state out of a state like Delta that cannot afford to pay its workers national minimum wage .grin With which money abeg ?

They should just disband this country 🤦‍♂️

US operate a true federal system.

Some states in the USA also go below the national minimum wage.

No states in Nigeria, however, should go below the minimum wage since the minimum wage is even too low already.

So in a fictional universe, black people do not exist and they don’t mix with whites?

Interesting.

You have to realise that this is fiction. If you can believe in fire-breathing dragons and Ice horses, but then taking exception to having black and white characters in the plot, then your Ruckusry is off da charts grin

The fact that u think the bolded shows u are so detached from the reality in Nigeria as of today.

As bad as Abacha was , there are records that suggest inflation was reduced from over 50% to 8.5% under his regime. Today inflation rate stands above 30% in 2024.

Today Nigerians spend most of their income on feeding . A derica of beans is 2,000 and the minimum wage is 30,000. That minimum wage will not even feed a young school leaver for 15 days out of 30 days in the month .

Yes Abacha was a monster, a brute , a dictator and the head of an illegitimate government who stole from the country . But u saying the hardship in present day Nigeria is lesser than what obtained during Abacha days shows u are far away from the reality

Who was recording inflation numbers during Abacha period and when was this 50% that was reduced to 6% under Abacha

Under Abacha, the Federal minimum wage was N450 and the money wasn't even paid regularly which led to many strikes and stay at home.
That was the time feeding formulas of 010 for adults and 101 for children became a common joke in the society
Trekking was normalized on a new level. That was the time trekking from Allen to Egbeda was routine, I even did Jibowu to Egbeda a few times

ASUU was on strike for an entire year and Abacha's solution was to sack all lecturers which was why there was no JAMB in 1996 calendar year
There is something known as Abacha stove because of how much hardship was in those days

Under Abacha unemployment was the order of the day, No one was hiring as the economy had crumbled, Multinational already fled the country due to the pariah state status, FDI was at the minimum. Banks were failing at an alarming state the only ones who survived were those Abacha favored and sold Dollar at FG rate of N22 to while public rates was N78

Abacha solution was to put in place a transition to civilian rule, gave us 5 political parties and all the 5 had him as presidential candidate, Any politician who spoke against him was jailed or assassinated. Organized 1million youths to Abuja and notable musicians to come "Beg him" to contest

The only way to survive was to flee the country or kiss Abacha's asss in a mega way openly , When we won Atlanta Olympics, some members of the Dream team even went extra and donated their medals to Abacha

Maybe we need a refresher on Abacha times to relive those "good times" once again

1.U mentioned multinationals were fleeing , the same thing is happening right before our eyes

2. U mentioned how unemployment is the order of the day under Abacha , the same is the case today.

3. U mentioned how people are trekking because and how people skip meals . It is happening everyday in Nigeria under Tinubu’s government .Everywhere u turn to u literally see people begging

4. While the people are not fleeing because of threat of gun under Tinubu, they are fleeing because of the hardship Tinubu government’s policy has unleashed on them.

5. The Naira keeps behaving like Abiku under Tinubu and companies keep suffering foreign exchange losses .

The fact that We even have to compare Tinubu’s administration with Abacha’s regime should tell u how terrible things are . This is like the first government since the beginning of this democratic dispensation that has brought back the bitter taste of those black days .
