Interview with the Vampire Season 2 is ultra peak. Hands down the best piece of fiction I have seen all year. It completely improves on what was a solid Season 1 in every way. This is what great writing, immaculate dialogue, and breathtaking acting look like. Just a total masterclass!

Im telling you.

Season 3 already Greenlit. We're going to the tale of the vampire lestat. Omo x 1000. I can't wait.

I Wonder in Anne Rice's Mayfair witches is just as good, since they are from the same author, have you seen it?

Nope. Wasn't intriguing at all. I only watched 2 or 3 episodes and gave up.

I don't like elongated series, I like concluded storylines.
The problem is that you are looking for a deeper than life philosophical meaning in the show, where every nitty gritty will be explained to you in white and black. It is metaphorical take on sacrifice and consequences, and these theme were treated squarely.

The storylines of both Amanda and Leighton were unconcluded. One of the Leighton's followed them but we never saw what happened to him or the various "clones" he probably made along the way.

A version of Amanda was shown to be distraught with her personal life, and her plotline concluded with her finding a world, where she found happiness with a family. A version of Leighton was shown to be an adventurous spirit, wanting to explore and live life, this version, was given a conclusion in the end, where he was able to explore and travel between verses undisturbed.

And why are there no clones of Jason 2 since he made different choices in the box too?

The author commented on this, he created the box, so he knew how to avoid the quirks and travel better.

And Daniela and Charlie just agreed to leave the entire universe just like that? That's so unrealistic. No one just decides to leave a universe for the unknoen. They have attachments...
They left cos more and more Jasons would keep popping up, I know but it's far more realistic to leave to another state entirely...even with the confusion with the police of many Jasons popping out of nowhere and killing each other...
Them staying in a world with unknown number of Jasons and constantly looking over their shoulder would have been a better ending? It makes no sense. Them leaving, and trusting the instincts of Charlie to lead them to a better world seems a logical ending

Or maybe all these get handled better in season 2 if it gets renewed.

I think the show had a lot of good ideas but a very shaky execution of them. Most things in the show don't really make sense
I doubt it will get renewed since they exhausted the book, and personally I don't see the sense in it. They didn't even have enough story to stretch it to a standard 10 episodes, so i wonder what story season 2 is going to tell, that will drive the plot any better than it already is.

HOTD

This episode was not it abeg, just the beginning part between Blaclwoods and Blackens( almost comedic I must say) to Rhaenys speaking wisdom, and the affirmation at the end.

What about the other Amandas?

And Jason 1 also gave Amanda some of the serum if we remember.

What about the Leighton who chased them into the box and his clones? Lost forever?
If one Leighton was given a conclusion, what about the version who we followed from the early episodes?

We are to just accept he kept roaming around with the clones he creates in different verses forever? Because he seemed determined to find them.
How is that a conclusion for his character?

The author commented on this, he created the box, so he knew how to avoid the quirks and travel better.

I didn't know I had to be following the author up and down for his comments because he failed to tie up a loose end in his released story...

Them staying in a world with unknown number of Jasons and constantly looking over their shoulder would have been a better ending? It makes no sense. Them leaving, and trusting the instincts of Charlie to lead them to a better world seems a logical ending

Be realistic here...despite the choas, no one would actually just leave their world to the unknown just like that... without arguments complaints or exhausting all other options...

Options that include leaving the country so they can at least keep up with the life they knew...
It's far more realistic that searching for another new world which they don't know...

I doubt it will get renewed since they exhausted the book, and personally I don't see the sense in it. They didn't even have enough story to stretch it to a standard 10 episodes, so i wonder what story season 2 is going to tell, that will drive the plot any better than it already is.

Honestly feels like so many plotlines were left unresolved. And even the ending left some hints in hope it gets renewed for a second season...

I'll come out and say it...
I'm not a fan of unresolved plotlines especially for a story I followed as it aired...

I'm also not a fan of unplanned writing...

It basically feels like the writer/writers had lots of ideas and winged it as they went along...there was never any clear pathway for the story to follow...

It just feels like someone had some nice ideas and just started winging it as the spirit leads rather than having a clear path and a clear goal the story wanted to achieve.

Not comparing...but I had this same issue with The Blacklist where the writers were just winging it rather than planning ahead...

Also, so much of how the box works makes absolutely no sense even with the suspension of belief...
The whole clone thing breaks the entire narrative. It's one thing for there to be different versions in different universe, it's another for there to be multiple clones of the same version of Jason all because of different doors opened.

It's becomes so broken that the box is practically creating full blooded clones rather than linking worlds through imagination...

Dark Matter (2024).......7/10

I will copy my Reddit review here -

Unpopular opinion: The last few episodes broke the series for me... especially the ISSUE 2

I guess I will be downvoted a lot but I'll say my opinion anyway. I have serious issues with how the last few episodes went down. I have also never read the book/books. I heard a second season is unlikely as the books have concluded, so I'll type this now -

ISSUE 1 - Unresolved plotlines.

Amanda finally found a world which she felt satisfied with and could finally live her life. However Jason quietly left some of the serum with her and we see nothing on that again. This can be seen as a decent conclusion to her character journey.

But with the introduction of clones who opened different doors/made different decisions, this leads to unresolved questions as to her clones and where they are.

The version of Leighton who went after Jason 1 and Amanda was completely forgotten by the plot. Did he just remain lost in the box forever with all the clones he makes? We don't know because it's unconcluded and he was forgotten by the writers.

ISSUE 2 - The mechanics of the Box

The introduction of the Jason 1 clones completely broke the mechanics of the show and did unrepairable damage to its writing in my opinion.

Ignoring the fact that it doesn't even make any sense how it works even with the suspension of belief, the box is more of a device that links across the multiple unlimited worlds through imagination.

In other words, the box was meant to serve as a link between an unlimited number of already existing universes, not creating new universes. If it were creating universes based on imagination, then that would mean that Jason 2 created a device that could create entire universes including humans, planets, solar systems etc...

Now herein lies the problem. It's one thing for there to be different versions of Jason in different universes, it's another for there to be multiple clones of the same version of Jason all because of different choices and doors opened.

It becomes so broken that the box is practically creating full blooded clones rather than just linking worlds through imagination...

To put this into context, the box is creating entire human clones.

That means that Jason 2 created a box that can fully clone an entire human being.

Anyway, the series is still a 7/10 to me...rather than the 9/10 I was hoping it would become

Spoiler Warning

Issue one is plausible; we should have seen more clones of Amanda along with their Jasons, though one of the clones (let me use "clone" for the moment) admitted he lost her in another parallel universe.

However, your issue two is not an issue at all. The idea here is that whenever a major decision is made, the universe splits, not the box. The box is only a bridge. Even without the existence of the box, there would have been many Jasons, all blissfully ignorant of the others. I think they got this idea from the show "Loki." Remember when the alternate realities were growing uncontrollably towards the end of the show after they murdered the show's boss? The boss in that show had found a way to keep it in check.

In fact, the idea of multiple universes is used in decision-making, such as in decision trees. Whenever you are to make a decision, it's best to consider all possible paths, give each a probability and weight, to arrive at the best decision. Top managers use this approach. undecided

I haven't seen Loki...

Now let's talk about this Statement. Basically you're saying the universe splits based on different decisions and not the box establishing new verses or clones.
That's fine...

However, herein lies the issue-
Why did all these Jason 1 clones arrived at the same universe claiming they were from there?
They didn't arrive at multiple universes if the universes split, but only arrive at the single one.

This in my opinion creates a problem whereby there are more Jasons than universes... because almost every of the universes visited already had their own Jasons...

If there are more Jasons than universes, doesn't that mean through the intervention of the box, more Jasons were created?

I don't think there are more Jasons than there are universes, but the parallel universe concept is indeed messy, though it's the experience the producers intended to convey. Let's start with Jason One (based on where we all started counting). He was forcefully transferred to the universe of Jason, the inventor of the box. Upon arriving in that universe, the same decisions and subsequent splitting of universes still applied.

The Jasons resulted from the decisions he made in that universe (of Jason, the inventor of the box), plus other Jasons that emerged due to decisions made after using the box to travel to other universes. Each one is a fork of the original Jason who was forcefully taken away, as they all remembered being kidnapped and dumped in an alternate universe.

As you may have gathered, they found their way back to their ground zero. I'm sure there are many more who didn't. In one of the scenes, Jason and Amanda returned to what seemed to them to be Jason the box maker's and Amanda's original universe, only to see versions of themselves trying to flee while Amanda got murdered. I guess that was yet another universe.

It's messy, but it still makes sense. According to the show, there were an infinite number of universes, each branching out at each decision point. You need to watch Loki seasons one and two; they were cool.

Since all the Jason 1s recall being taken from their universe and all are fully convinced that this universe is theirs, doesn't this then mean there are more Jasons than universes?

Recall that almost all the universes explored also had their own Jasons.

Recall also that all these Jason 1s came from the same universe and returned to the same.

That means there are multiple Jasons who came from the main universe...

Worse still, even if all these Jasons decide to find another universe, they would meet different Jasons in those universes too and in turn they themselves would lead to further more Jasons.

This automatically creates a scenerio where there are more Jasons than universes even though they are both infinite

No, you haven't quite grasped how this alternate universe concept works. Using "Counterpart" and "Loki" as references, the universes usually start from one source, at least as far as we're shown. From there, it splits whenever a substantially weighty decision is made. I think that's the approach adopted in this show. Every significant, life-changing decision births a new universe.

So, a Jason in one universe might spawn a new universe when he decides to skip work, and that new universe will spawn yet another at a subsequent decision point. In other words, we could start with 10 universes, for example, and end up with 1 million of them down the line.

Because each of these Jasons thinks they're from one particular universe from which they were taken, they all tried to make it back. For all we know, the winning Jason may just be one of the many alternate spawns and not even the original one.

So to be clear, these Jason clones are actually formed from universes that didn't exist before Jason 1 went into the box?

Sounds like a very messy concept and shows some of my issues with the whole multiverse concept

Karl Urban is a phenomenal actor but I believe the Butcher role makes a great case for why TV will generally have better characterization than movies because I don't think Karl has owned and delivered with a character to the same extent as he has with this Butcher role.

This is now his benchmark role to surpass

It takes a great actor to be outstanding in a movie. Use Elizabeth Olsen as an example

The latest HOTD episode might seem slow paced or even uninteresting, but imo it is like one of the most important episodes so far in the entire show, that has ramifications not just for HOTD but for GOT as well.

King Viserys I on his deathbed, high and delirious from the milk of the poppy, repeats, Aegon the conqueror's dream of A song of Fire and Ice to Alicent (and in the delirium, thinking he was speaking to Rhaenyra), talking about the Prince that was promised, and this dumb broad Alicent, thought Viserys was speaking about her useless son, also named "Aegon", because for some weird reason dem Targaryen, seemingly have a pool of 10 names to pick from, and they are cool with repeating names and causing confusion undecided, and that's what started this bloody war in the first place.

I can't even blame Alicent too much, as i think she had already accepted Rhaenyra as her queen before Viserys spewed that nonsense to her. If only Viserys had just said "The princess that was promised", probably things would've been more clearer, but Alicent heard Prince and Aegon and she put 2 and 2 together to make 4 😭.

And what was that prophecy about Daemon all about? 👀.

Solid episode.

She didnt deceive him in the sense that she knew her interpretation of what she saw in the flames were wrong and acted as if she was right. She was just wrong on her summation of what she saw and didnt realize. Same can be said about The Egg (Aegon V Targaryen) who saw the vision of Dany with everything burning around her and the birth of her dragons and thought the vision was about him and he ended up burning himself and his family.

Yup, mis interpreted would be the right word, as she saw signs but just mis read them.

But i totally hate how, The prince that was promised was such a huge concept in the books, and in the GOT series, it was just like a flinging afterthought ultimately leading to them leaving the true identity of The Prince that was promised in great ambiguity in the hand. TPTWP is supposed to lead the world from darkness, and at every stages of the show the most obvious candidates would have been Jon Snow and Danys, both from Aegon's bloodline, but in literal terms, I don't think any of them did lead the world from darkness, even though the Night King was an invention of the show, it was the most obvious darkness throughout the show, and he was killed by Arya, and it was infact Danys dragons that helped in bridging the wall for the white walkers. Jon snow or Danys would have been perfect with better writing, as their story is literally the Song of Fire and Ice.

After the show caught up with the books around season 5, they were kind of winging it from there, and ended up with a rather ambiguous ending. Mad over that S8 again.

Rhaenyra is beginning to annoy me.

A completely pointless risk with zero rewards. There was never any benefit to meeting Alicent.
Things had already escalated way beyond cheap discourse.
So much risk to meet Alicent that she hasn't met in months...someone she doesn't even know if she has changed...

Even if she convinced Alicent, what would Alicent do exactly? Is she the one on the throne?

Alicent does not have the power to end the war...so it was a completely pointless meeting with no benefit whatsoever...

Imagine putting yourself and your entire cause at risk for nonsense...

I'm starting to think Rhaenyra is not just soft but becoming fôolish as well...
That is why she needs someone like Daemon at her side...

It seems like the only thing their meeting achieved was that now Rhaenyra would know that whatever she does next she had a right to...

But still a pretty unnecessary and fôolish risk that raises some eyebrows to the writing of this episode
