1. Go ahead. A valid USA visa in an expired passport is still valid unless canceled or revoked. USA VISA is valid until its expiration date regardless of Travel Passport Validity Date.

2. If you have a valid VISA in your expired passport, do not fret about it. You may use your valid visa in your expired passport along with a new valid passport for travel and admission into the United States.

Go ahead. Your old passport number will be on the new one. Besides they won’t check appointment confirmation letter (my experience when I submitted for a colleague with error in passport number on the appointment confirmation letter). However, ensure that you don’t submit your application form -yet so you can change the passport number to the new one once you get it.

A friend of mine wants to invite her mum to the usa for Tourist visa but she isn't sure of what she needs to know. She heard of a letter of invite. Are there samples of what needs to be written? Would she need to have a job in the usa or be a citizenship before she can invite someone in? I'll appreciate everyone's knowledge and input?

2. Your mom can only visit you (in this era) most likely under medical emergency and to get approved you must prove that you are medically unfit, just delivered of a baby, your kid (s) is unwell or your mom herself is medically ill with clinic or hospital references.

3. If your mother is a very literate person or a career woman she can apply under business emergency.

4. Yes. You must be a citizen or a permanent resident , and with financial capability in order to invite someone from outside the USA.

PS: If you plan to invite her normally for informal mother and daughter reunion without considering any of the options above it can take her 2 years to realise such dream.

I want to book an appointment for IW with a soon to be expired passport.cosbof the delays in renewing a nigerian passport, i dont want to wait till i renew the passport to start the IW process...hence my concern if i can go ahead to make payment and schedule IW date with old passport nos ....hopefully my new passport will be out b4 my IW date...so the visa would be fixed on the new passport

Please I have a wrong date of birth on my previous B1/B2 application which was denied 2017 and the passport has expired.

But now I have done the correction with sworn affidavit in high court and I also have new passport which has my corrected date of birth.

Please if you are unable to login into your CGI Profile suddenly a the platform keeps rejecting email and password you have used and you have called and sent emails to their Customer care and they keep saying they have sent you temporary passwords to your email and you are NOT receiving it and have checked your Junk/Spam mails nothing. What Else can the person do or How else can one contact them to enable one regain access to CGI profile to schedule his Appointment. Its already exhausting I must say. please help required.

1. If her mother is financially proven back in Nigeria then her (the daughter in the USA) financial capability is not necessary. But if the daughter's plan is to stand as the funder of her mother's travel expenses then she (the daughter in the USA) must show financial ability in any form to the USA embassy in Nigeria .

2. The best form of POF or financial ability is official bank or financial statement . In the case of the daughter in America, her bank statement or bank letter as well as employment evidence are sufficient.

3. Yes she can proceed providing that she or the mother has funds to be expended on the journey, and they are able to provide child-birth evidences as well as official hospital ratification.

After that , login into your CGI profile and click on update profile in order to input the new Ds-160 number and click save then log out of your CGI.

2. Log back into your CGI after 3 days and click on Appointment, it will give you the opportunity to print out another VISA appointment letter. Take the new VISA appointment letter, new Ds-160 confirmation print out, your MRV (visa fee payment receipt), and your new travel passport to your interview

3. Though, USA embassy have your previous visa application records but they will work on your present information. Mistake and errors are permitted. Work on sense 2 above.

1. You have visited the CGI too frequently hence your account was locked temporarily. Give it 2 days you should be able to log back.

Effective January 1, 2024, the local Nigeria call center number 23412278955 has changed to ' new format will be. Call this helpline = 2342012278955.

If the old passport does not have 6months validity then don't bother. Go get a new passport.

You mean this hasn't been sorted out? This is getting confusing. Maybe you should give the portal a few days break then try again.

1. IW decision is actually 8 weeks (2-months) at minimum according to the USA embassy website, so you have 2 more weeks of endurance before you start fidgeting.

2. It is not unusual and there is nothing you can do. You cannot retrieve or call for your travel passport until final decision . Its on their website .

It's not 8 weeks at minimum., that's the maximum , some people get theirs from 3 days - 2 weeks but recently it's been 4-6 weeks in Abuja and 2-3 weeks in Lagos but please note that the duration depends on each person's circumstance..

That's why it was advised that drop box should only be done if you don't have immediate travel plans
