budaatum:Ok thanks for your answer.....so it means humans don't have a purpose here on earth right? |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 12:19pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: Excuse me, but how did you jump from "believe God", to "humans have no purpose"? Humans do have purpose. Our purpose is living, and we are so smart that we write books and create gods to teach ourselves to have even higher purposes. Below is a worthy purpose we have written for ourselves In fact, if you don't have a purpose

Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by Michael547(m): 12:35pm On Jul 09 |
budaatum:So you mean our purpose is just to live? If yes, why do we die and why is there so much suffering? |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 12:51pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: Our purpose is not just to live. Humans can choose additional purposes, like to live well or to help others live well. Those who wrote the Quran and Bible did not write it just so they may live, but so others too may learn to live long and well. Suffering is subjective. It is usually the product of bad living, and bad living is due to ignorance. If you learn to live well, you would likely suffer less. Those who live by the sweat of their brow (as in, use their brain to work for their daily bread), suffer less than those who pray for manna from heaven. 1 Like |

budaatum:What can we define to be bad living? And why do we grow old and die even if we avoid bad living? |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 1:03pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547:Bad living is not living right, like eating the wrong foods, and not exercising or not improving ones knowledge by not learning. Everything grows old and dies eventually, because nothing lasts forever. We grow old and die because time goes by. If I buy a car from you and treat it very well, it will die someday, for that is the nature of things. Treating the car well will however give me more longer joy driving it than if I treated it badly. |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by Michael547(m): 1:05pm On Jul 09 |
budaatum:So do you agree that our purpose on earth is just to live and die? |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 1:18pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: No, I do not agree that our, or at least my, purpose on earth is just to live and die. Between the day I was born and the day that I die, I may choose many purposes, like my current one, which is to increase understanding so others may live longer and suffer less. I may have children too, and build lots of houses or buy many cars, or just enjoy my time on earth, and that is far more than "just to live and die". 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by Michael547(m): 1:19pm On Jul 09 |
budaatum:So what is the point of achieving all those things since you would not continue living to enjoy them? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 1:33pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: Like what is the point of buying a car from you since I would not continue to enjoy it? Because I will enjoy it while I live. And you will enjoy the profit you make from me buying it from you. And the tax you pay from selling me a car will improve the society we both live in (hopefully, you pay tax and it will not all be stolen). And the maintenance of the car I buy from you will create an enjoyable livelihood for the mechanic I take it to for service and repairs. 1 Like |

Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 1:55pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: Yes, I do "agree that after death, the life one lived and the things he acquired when Alive are absolutely of no benefit to him anymore". But only a selfish person lives for their own benefit. I may will all the cars I buy from you while I live to a charity that feeds the poor or schools the orphans long after I am dead. We are both living here now, and the words we are living may benefit those who read it long after we are both dead. Some even die so others may live and benefit. 1 Like

budaatum:Whether a person is selfish or not, we will all Still die. So how does being unselfish benefit a dead person? |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 2:17pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: A dead person has no benefits. Whatever benefits a person has are while they live. So how does being unselfish benefit a live person? |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by Michael547(m): 2:24pm On Jul 09 |
budaatum:I don't know the answer to the question you asked. I will like to know how been unselfish benefits a living person. 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 2:32pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: Well, if you are unselfish to me, I will likely not be selfish to you in return unless I am a selfish asshǒle. And if I am not selfish to you and then die, you will likely not be selfish to my offspring unless you are a selfish asshǒle. If you are selfish, those who know you will not often be unselfish to you. |

Ganjafama: Enoch, Noah, Job, Daniel already perfectly qualified for the new world, but you are already qualified to go to hellfire, so whatever you tell ypurself to help you sleep at night, still ends in the fact that you already know that ypu are qualified to burn forever! |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by Michael547(m): 2:38pm On Jul 09 |
budaatum:Ok....I get your point....but the fact still remains that whether I am selfish or not.....death can come to me anytime....there is no gauranyltee that i would live longer and enjoy life than a selfish person.....so does that really benefit me? 1 Like 1 Share |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 2:44pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: I think you need to accept that death comes to all and no one lives forever. A selfish person will not have lots of friends, and even family might me less familiar with them. Just imagine how you might feel about selfish parents. They will not spend their resources setting you up in life, and living might therefore be less comfortable for you than it might be for a person with unselfish generous parents. |

budaatum:Whether I live comfortably or not, death can still come to me anytime.....there is no guarantee that a person who lives comfortably will live longer than a person who does not live comfortably. Don't you think death renders all what we work hard for and how we live our lives as vanity ? |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by Dtruthspeaker: 2:53pm On Jul 09 |
Ganjafama: Are you not tired of being shocked by this life you have seen, is it now after life that won't shock you? Or did you not hear that nothing is impossible for God?. You are the qualified recipient of e shock you! |

Dtruthspeaker:So afterlife does not have a location? And everyone knows that? What about the so called hell fire? Explain the afterlife... |
Re: The Afterlife- Fact Or Fallacy? by budaatum: 3:47pm On Jul 09 |
Michael547: Comfortable living is not a guarantor of living long, but I'm certain you would rather live a short comfortable life than a long miserable one. I know I would. A person who lives wisely will enjoy their life much more than an ignorant miserable person would enjoy theirs, even if the ignorant person lives longer than the wise person. No, I don't think death renders all what we work hard for and how we live our lives as vanity. You and I have been living (conversing) here with one another, and you have done so wisely, which I am certain you worked hard for. If you had thought your conversing with me were vanity, we'd likely be living here insulting each other instead of learning about each other. And even after either of us dies, the living you will remember this our living together with delight, as opposed to the misery with which we would remember each other if we had lived here together miserably selfishly thinking our life here were vanity. |
