Lol.. Till then because I don't believe all this yet. To make law is easy in this country but implementing it is always another herculean task. I'm still watching. |

Cjsarima:Wrong! The Constitution does not favor your political class at all. Why do you think they almost always come up with ideas to try to circumvent it any chance they get? If you spent time reading it you would know this. That document is almost a mirror of the United States Constitution, and like every constitution out there, it is not worked by magic but by the efforts of the people 3 Likes |

If the state governors win the case of VAT, They won't need FG FAAC allocation. They'll have enough funds to run CTC chairmen at various LGAs |

CrossRhodes: Embezzlement in lg can only happen in cahoot with the state government First, lg chairperson don't have immunity Second, lg chairperson can be removed by councillors and state assembly members if they embezzle 1 Like |

Governors even claimed that they bail some local government which is true. If FG can bail states then it's possible some local government are destitute |
Re: Following States Will Not Receive FAAC Allocations For Their LG By July Ending by Kobojunkie: 9:58pm On Jul 13 |
lereinter:1. There is no truth to this claim because, since 1999, the Law has never required the LGs to report to the State Governors. So, where does this assumption of yours come from? The same applies as far as governors who embezzle but how come this has never happened before now? |

fergie001: I don't get why some are downplaying the enforcement of the SC judgement. It is the highest court of the land and it has decreed that this should be so. The judgement must be obeyed without demand. This idea that governors would not obey is just moot. 1 Like |

Zouzer:The so-called enforcement would be in violation of the Constitution and would only shift more power over the LGs into the hands of the FG. It is anti-True federalism. 1 Like |

CrossRhodes: No matter the level of embezzlement, they will still do alot of works in their area of jurisdictions. They are easily accessible, once people are aware of what they get from federal government each month, it will be difficult for them not to attend to the people's needs Besides, local governments chairmen and councillors are mostly people born and breed in the same locality. People know them in and out, they can confront them if there is need to, unlike emperors governors. 1 Like |

Let them embezzle. At least, they're closer to the people and they'll have hard times explaining to the people at the grassroots, who are aware that the money comes directly to the LGs, reasons why there are no development in their domains...and they'll also have it difficult to convince them to vote them the second time if the impacts of their governance has not been positive. The ball is actually in their court! For me, it's a step in the right direction. And for the governors who think they can run the affairs of the local government from their exalted office, I don't know where the mentality is coming from. The position of the constitution is very clear. Mrexcell: 1 Like |

Genesiis:No... Local Government also have their share too. It is to disadvantage of unproductive states too. According to section 40 of the VAT Act, the federal government gets 15 percent of the tax revenue, states share 50 percent, and local governments share the balance of 35 percent. |
