1. I would rather you followed the inscription on your Form-120 that says " family sponsor/funds " Your Host-Institution in the USA communicates with the American embassy abroad via your Form-120 just the same way you communicates with the USA embassy via your DS-160. Your father could be a billionaire so maintain him as your sole funder.

2. Your next line of action is to prove to the consular beyond all doubts that your father has more than enough of your tuition deficit . Also, print out the correspondence between you and your host-institution where they promised you fundings upon arrival.

3. Your father , your job , your wife and perhaps other siblings etc are your ties to Nigeria but not having kids yet makes it a shaky ties because your nuclear family is your best tie of all.

4. I will scale your visa success on 60%/100 (my personal ratings) if you can prove " father's financial ability, pending fundings upon your arrival to school, stability of your ties to Nigeria, and your plans after graduation.

Currently you are on what we call Association of Zero Funding ( AZF) and to be honest, I am in like three active telegram and WhatsApp group for interviews this year and the VO's approval for those with zero funding is like 1/20 especially with deifict above $30k. One VO even told a guy he can go print a bank statement under the bridge when he was explaining his father makes xyz millions and he has the bank statement with the funds available. If you can try to get funding to some extent, even if 20% of your COA, it improves your chances when they see you are funded to some extent ( In Nigeria to be Specific). If you can, defer to spring and find way for them to give you some degree of funding but if not possible, you can go try your luck it is 50/50.

I concur with OyoTunjiUSA. If your dad or whoever sponsor you chose have the required money that covers your tuition deficit you actually won't need to worry about funding. US embassy still respects Nigeria as a nation with wealthy people despite the fact of our economic woes therefore you can convince the consular staff that your dad has enough to cover you.

US embassy website does not have or recognise such a thing like association of zero funding so its all fallacy. F1 visa success is locked with 1. ability to prove availability of funds 2. ties to return back after study 3. graduation plans 4. relevant of your course of study and 5. your intention.

If you bagged 100% fundings but failed in the other listed aspects you won't secure any visa. If you are certain that your dad is capable to fund your deficit pls go ahead with your visa application. Regards.

A VO is going to believe that your father can cover the $47,000 in full for the duration of the program? Even if you produced seemingly authentic bank statements, I doubt that the VO would be convinced. Honestly speaking, your chances are slim to none. I suggest you defer your plans and attempt to get at least 40-60% funding, leaving a deficit that is more realistic for your father to cover.

First mistake, and this is minor, but using the phrase “he’s into” is always a red flag. You went on to say that your father owns and manages multiple businesses, which is vague and sounds pretty unrealistic.

Your dad owns multiple businesses but you only started working 2 years ago? Did you list one of your dad’s companies as your employer? How would investing such a huge amount to send you abroad to study help his business to where he would sacrifice time and money into sponsoring you? What difference would you getting more education make in his businesses that are already successful enough for him to sponsor your education abroad? If he owns multiple successful companies, why wouldn’t you stay and work in already established businesses? How would increased education count/what impact would it have?

You told her you applied to only 3 universities and chose the school you chose because of reputation and research opportunities. If your father is responsible for the deficit, wouldn’t cost of attendance and the amount of funding the school offered be more of a driving factor than reputation? If you’re returning to Nigeria to work for your father after you finished your studies, why would the reputation of the school matter? Also, if you planned to return to Nigeria after you finished your studies, why would the research opportunities at the school matter?

How do you intend to convince the VO that you managed to save funds to travel abroad with while covering you and your wife’s living expenses for the past 3 years?
Did the school give you something in writing guaranteeing that they’ll give you funds once you arrive? How much of the $47,000 is the school guaranteeing that they’ll give you and what are the stipulations? What are your backup plans should the school withdraw their offer or the funding they promise falls through?

One way is to have the tuition (which up until a certain date is refundable by the school should you not be approved for the visa) paid in advance and genuine receipts from the school indicating the the same. That would be solid evidence which would convince the VO that you are capable of self and family funding.
The VO has to be confident that you’ll have no trouble with any of the expenses—it has to be far more than word of mouth.

1. Just like you wrote, the names and information on both passports are the same and the most interesting part is that your new passport also carries your old passport number so it is a continuation.

2. Just be certain that you input your new travel passport number in your DS-160 and update your DS-160 in your CGI portal after which you will need to print out a new visa appointment letter from your CGI. Its not a problem and you can attend your interview with both passports.

Hey 🤠

1. Secondary school transcripts means a student's subjects work assessment from JSS1 to SSS3.

2. A high school/University transcripts can be evaluated by WES, MotaWord, ECE and others . You can Google those evaluation bodies.

3. TOEFL is the natural requirement for foreign student (undergraduate) and SAT can be done if such student is aiming for scholarships. IELTS is more of a graduate requirement.

4. All the aforementioned above can be waived . Use Google to search For USA schools that waive standardised tests and credential evaluation. Some schools may not need your high school transcripts once they have your WAEC certificate with result checker.

5. Google is your friend. Search most affordable Universities in the United States and email their admissions offices for your enquiry.
