Congratulations big daddy

Dedewizzy:
Greetings to all mamas and dads in the house. I've been a silent follower of this thread for a few weeks now and it wouldn't be fair if I don't share this here.

So sometime last year my wife missed her period, from our local calculations from her lmp EDD fell on the 24th of May but first scan we did by her 21st week gave the EDD for 9th of May. Yours truly wasn't really bothered since from every indication it wouldn't exceed the month of May.

It was quite a smooth ride all through. Fast forward to 7th of May around 2am she began purging after that stomach started aching which got severe as time went on. I checked the date and discovered its just 2days to EDD and this should be labour, I called wife's sister who confirmed the signs was for labour that we should dash for the hospital. Around 6am we set off for the hospital. A nurse checked her and said it isn't yet time but she should still wait for the doctor. Meanwhile the pains (more like contractions) had suddenly disappeared. Doctor also confirmed that it isn't labour that she still has a quite a while to go. He offered her Flagyl to stop the purge. Yours truly was kind of relieved and disappointed at same time. I had already informed some people that wifey was in labour. We went back home and normalcy resumed.

Fast forward to the early hours of this morning 15th May, around 3am contractions started it got so pronounced that around 4am it started coming at an interval of 3minutes apart. I had read a handful from this beautiful thread already to know that this was the real deal. Remembering what happened the previous week, I didn't bother calling anyone this time around so as not to raise another false alarm and risk not to be taken serious anymore. I told her to get set so we leave for the hospital, contraction continued and the urge to poo set it. I begged her not to as from my few weeks here it might just be the baby coming down as I can't risk attending to her if it happens in the restroom. I've gained a lot of knowledge from here but midwifery wasn't one. Against my plea she still did poo and thank goodness nothing happened. She was set after a while and we set off for the hospital.

A nurse checked her and all she said was "one finger" and referred her to the next room to seat. All trials to make her explained exactly what she meant by the one finger proved abortive. At that moment I remembered "Google is your friend" I quickly went to search for the meaning only to discover she's just 1-2cm dilated and it might still take a while for the baby to come. I explained the meaning for wifey and she decided if that was the case she should go to work. This was kicked against and she was asked to remain. I decided to set off for work.

Now the testimony, I was just getting to the office when I received a call from her. I was thinking probably they have come to check on her again and maybe it has increased to "two fingers" but no. I heard the best statement I've heard all year which was she telling me "the baby is out". I couldn't hide my excitement. Everything progressed so fast. She didn't spend upto 30 minutes in the delivery room before our prince landed around past 8am. Baby weighing 3.2kg, mother strong and healthy with no tears, no inducement no prolonged labour. It can only be God. I'm eternally grateful.

From a proud and happy husband turn father.

Please who can recommend a good and affordable hospital in PH. I stay in Ozuoba/NTA axis.
I have tried UPTH in my first pregnancy and the outcome was not so favourable if not for God's mercy. Their level of lassez faire scares me to death

Congratulations momma. People often recommend Obio Cottage, BMH, St. Martins and Military hospital.

Currently battling dis as well... Told the doc and he said he doesn't give drugs for it as well ... I still went ahead n got pessaries ( m y c o t e n) n it's cream wen it became unbearable.... Was very okay for some months... But it's back now again... Itching n discharge... The next doc I saw said it might get worse cos av got a cerclage on sef.... But I shouldn't use any drugs or pessaries.. Here's what he adviced

1). Make panty liners your friend... Use as many as possible... As in change it often. Any lil discharge... No matter how small, change it... Don't wear one for long.

2) alway use tissue to pay dry when you pee... Pat very dry....

3).. Get mycoten cream... Keep it handy... Any time you pee, pat dry with tissue, apply jus a lil outside you jajaina and slightly inside d vulva... Remember.... Jus a little. Make sure your hands are washed clean befo and afterwards.

4) Wen bathing don't soap the jajaina... Then in the morning n befo you sleep.... Apply a generous amount of the cream... Very generous... It's only during the day d amount is small.

5) aside your morning n evening bath. Rinse your jaijana at least seven times or mostly Wen you pee...with warm water n just a drop of purit... Jus a drop... No soap... Pat very dry with paper towel, reapply very little mycoten.... Wear clean panty liners.

Note...the first time you use mycoten after washing.... U'd feel a fiery burning sensation... U fit cry sef... After dat First application, it won't burn again.

All dis didn't stop d discharge for me tho... But the quantity reduced and n d pungent odour ceased... Plus ud feel very comfortable...

Pls if you don't work or go out often... Do not use the panty liner too often... Jus rinse, pat dry and apply small cream den let air enter the gold mine...and at night too... Let the gold mine breathe....

But me I stubborn sha o.... I go still buy pessaries use...jus waiting till am twenty weeks gone...

you probably having severe yeast infection called candidiasis... Doc cant prescribe anything for u because u r pregnant because takin fungi medicatn is risky for d growing baby... You can only manage d symptoms till u give birth... Anti fungi cream is safe when use moderately and mk sure u don't insert into Ur vj... No matter how itchy u get, pls don't insert into Ur VJ ... Always mk sure Ur private part are alwz dry cs yeast like where it's moisture n it promote it's growth hence mkin u uncomfortable and irritated .. chng underwears frequently... Wash with only water and Wipe with dry toilet rolls after every pee.. pant liners too are good options to avoid changing underwear frequently. It may or may not leave B4 birth ... U can only treat ursef fully after birth. Do take care of ursef

I don't think there is any reason to be worried. My baby was over a year before growing her first teeth. She's almost two years now with less than ten teeth. keep calm

sorry dear but this kind of health issue should be look at by a health professional... Unstable hbp just early stage of pregnancy shld b managed by Ur doctor... Normally people reduced their salt intake to managed their hbp... All vegetables work in reducing hbp for normal people, especially stem of a plantain tree and soaked unripe pawapaw but they can only b taking when one is not pregnant.... Only Ur doctor can help u manage Ur present symptom... Cos na only them know wetin u fit consume that it won't affect Ur growing baby. Go see your doctor... I don't think nairaland is where u can get d ans u r looking for.

thank you mama for d reply I really appreciate it . I have been to the doc but doc said he doesnot want to give mi on any Anti-bp drugs since my pregnancy is still in early stage. That once I cross the 12weeks they will most likely place mi on drugs . Hence why I was asking for natural remedies I can take before then. Thank you so much .

The same way that most drugs aren't safe in early pregnancy, that also goes for most natural remedies. Try adjusting your diet, reduce salt intake, more of fruits and veggies.

Cut down a bit on oil intake too. Avoid stress.
I've personally taken moringa powder as tea during pregnancy twice, though just as a supplement, though I know it's good for people with BP. You may want to try small amounts of it.

your doc is right... Precautions must be taking when in early stage of pregnancy... @hamzashaf99 is also right but will also take precautns in taking moringa thou... I heard only d moringa leave is safe to use, avoid moringa bark and it's roots or it's seeds....What works 4 A may not work for B or better still make thorough research on moringa yourself to know if it's generally safe to take during any stage of pregnancy.... Better safe than sorry.... I would advice taking ewedu without salt thou... Ewedu works wonders 4 pregnant women... Gure (water leave) too is good... They are natural ways to regulate Ur BP.

I think you should go see your doctor for consultation to rule of major problems cos while rib pain during pregnancy can be normal, it may also not be normal as well... Be that one is pregnant or not.... So to b sure of why u r having d pains, u should see Ur doctor. I hope this helps grin
