100 dollars for a fress graduate
1200 dollars a year for a fresh graduate

And you think it's ok?

I am from IMO let people from those state deal with it

Considering the economic situation and capacity of employers of labour in the country to pay, this is not bad. Left to state governments and organized private sectors, something way below 70k would be approved. Labour knows more than you and that is why they are praising the President for this kind gesture.

This is unacceptable. Even a plate of rice at Aso rock is about 300k going by the last budget. Nigerian Labour Congress should accept nothing less than 100k or embark on strike.

Go and see European leaders riding bicycle and living in 3 bedroom apartment just to identify with the masses.

These people don't believe in your heaven. Get this into your head first and foremost. They don't believe in God either. Their gods are money and power and they pursue them at all cost. Even bone and life in them worships money and power and they will destroy the Nigerian people to get at both. undecided

I realised this, a long time ago. grin

Meerahbel:
Increasing wages can potentially lead to inflation, but it's not a direct cause-and-effect relationship. Here's why:

1. Higher wages can lead to higher production costs for businesses.
2. If businesses pass these increased costs on to consumers, it can result in higher prices (inflation).
3. However, if businesses absorb the increased costs or improve productivity, the impact on prices may be minimal.

Other factors influence the relationship between wages and inflation, such as:

- Economic growth
- Productivity gains
- Labor market conditions
- Monetary policy (interest rates)
- Supply and demand imbalances

In some cases, higher wages can even lead to:

- Increased consumer spending (boosting economic growth)
- Reduced employee turnover (saving businesses recruitment and training costs)
- Improved productivity (offsetting higher labor costs)

So, while higher wages can contribute to inflationary pressures, it's not a guarantee, and the relationship depends on various economic factors. Here are some additional points to consider:

- The impact of wage increases on inflation depends on the state of the economy. In a recession, wage increases are unlikely to lead to inflation, as there is spare capacity in the economy. However, in a rapidly growing economy with low unemployment, wage increases may lead to inflation.
- The size of the wage increase also matters. Small, incremental increases are less likely to lead to inflation than large, sudden increases.
- The industry and sector also play a role. For example, wage increases in industries with high labor intensity, such as healthcare or education, may be more likely to lead to inflation than in industries with high automation, such as manufacturing.
- The presence of price controls or monetary policy can also influence the relationship between wages and inflation. For example, if a central bank is aggressively raising interest rates to combat inflation, the impact of wage increases on inflation may be mitigated.
- Finally, the relationship between wages and inflation can vary across different countries and regions, depending on factors such as labor market institutions, economic structures, and cultural norms.

Overall, while there is a potential link between wage increases and inflation, it is not a straightforward relationship, and many factors need to be considered when assessing the impact of wage growth on prices.

This Ai generated response is not what I was looking for.
There's a reason the government did not accept the 250000 asked for by the labor unions. Did you think the government just didn't want the people to have more money in order to spite them?

In some cases, higher wages can even lead to:

- Increased consumer spending (boosting economic growth)
- Reduced employee turnover (saving businesses recruitment and training costs)
- Improved productivity (offsetting higher labor costs)

Isn't it why I said the government should now encourage more local production?

Otti is the President of Nigeria in your nightmares.

All you guys know is the president and that is why Nigeria is the way it is. Other elected officials, including your governor are busy doing nothing.

I bet if so many kids and illerates adult here know what is called Economic recession. United Kingdom announced in 2022 before many countries started declaring also including Asian countries and many more hence the major reason why the government have no choice than to remove subsidy and devalue naira. Although I don't support that move but government has no other means since the zombies in Banana republic keep sabotaging the government effort to increase the amount of crude oil on daily sales. Here we are the same set of people that lack leadership will still come and cry that the inflation is over 300%. Don't worry by the time it reaches 900% you will understand that their is only 1 God. Go to western countries and experience the amount of inflation rates then you will understand that Nigeria is still learning. Anyways the government must be 100% ready to continue to alleviate the level of poverty in the country and reduce hunger to the minimum level.

A bag of rice is #85,000 now.

Idiotic administration

It's not reasonable to always compare wages with a bag of rice. If you buy a bag of rice, how many months will it take you and your small household to finish that bag of rice or are you going to be buying a bag of rice every month.

Lolz, it's simple now. Minimum wage is the least anyone can collect as a worker but not maximum. You are not expected to spend above your level. So for someone, for example, in a village in a Local government;, 70k is a good money because I saw someone trading with 20k total. If you are in the city and collecting 70k well you have to manage it by your level.

When you encourage local production it also means the government will pay attention to all factors that will bring that about.

Incentives to new businesses, power and every other reasonable things you can think of.

Slave wage is realistic? Interesting take! undecided

The International extreme poverty line is set at $2.15 a day meaning one would need to earn at least $64.50 each month to be considered living just above OK in poverty. Your government just made sure that over 140 million Nigerians will remain under the extreme poverty line for many years to come by this decision in fulfillment of his campaign promise to reduce the purchasing power of all Nigerians whom he also intends to drag in his tax net. And you applaud this? undecided
