Everyone keeps saying funding, funding. Not everyone would get a scholarship (or am I wrong) what if people can genuinely cover that tuition?

Hey 🀠

@liliberth

1. You are not wrong. Many a student from extremely rich families fails UTME (JAMB) every year and could not gain admissions to Universities but yet their parents or families have more than enough money to pay off their 4-year school fees.

2. University of Nigeria offers 100% scholarships to incoming students. Student A received the 100% which is N1,000. Student B received 75% and his parent covered the remaining 25%. Student C gained admission but no scholarship and his parents are ready to pay N1,000 into the account of UNN. Is the above equation not balance ?

3. Therefore, like you said if your parents , funders , or yourself can provide strong evidence of the availability of the school fees then you do not have any issue with fundings. Consular officer will never say " why did you not secure funding ? But rather say " How will you pay off your deficit?

I got an admission for "Cyber security" but I noticed that on my i-20, the major there is "Computer & information systems security/auditing/information assurance"

Please, I hope this won't be an issue when I go for my interview or what do you think ?

Same thing. If the VO ask, just tell them it’s the CIP code. They are use to it.

Thank you. In summary your response in number1 is my report cards from Jss1- ss3+ my waec degree?
For number2. How about if the case where my secondary school was let's say deep inside the rural area where an attempt to verify it's authenticity with officials electronically will not be possible?(please do not laugh)
Again in the case of waec evaluation in these agencies which you mentioned in number2, Can it be done with the Ministry of Education, Abuja?

OyoTunjiUSA:

Hey 🀠

1. Secondary school transcripts means a student's subjects work assessment from JSS1 to SSS3.

2. A high school/University transcripts can be evaluated by WES, MotaWord, ECE and others . You can Google those evaluation bodies.

3. TOEFL is the natural requirement for foreign student (undergraduate) and SAT can be done if such student is aiming for scholarships. IELTS is more of a graduate requirement.

4. All the aforementioned above can be waived . Use Google to search For USA schools that waive standardised tests and credential evaluation. Some schools may not need your high school transcripts once they have your WAEC certificate with result checker.

5. Google is your friend. Search most affordable Universities in the United States and email their admissions offices for your enquiry.

Hey 🀠

1 Yes.

2. No school abroad really needs to check your secondary school's website or trying to verify it's location. All they need is the authenticity of your waec result which can be verify online.

3. You don't need all those stress if you are applying to USA institutions. Nigeria is a commonwealth nation so those stuffs are usually waived (but few USA schools still demand for it).
Authentication, Notarization and Evaluation are different terms. Ask your school which one do they require.

Please who paid SEVIS fee recently?

My people in the US are saying western Union is down and I'm wondering if that could happen for days...

Could it be that there is something they are not doing right?

Hey 🀠

1. Western Union is not down.
Your people in the USA have gone to few places and perhaps those locations does not understand SEVIS fee payment thereby prompting your people to come up with an excuse in order to push you elsewhere.

2. Plead with your people to go to a Western Union outlet with Quickpay. Only WU outlet with Quickpay facility understands how to remit SEVIS fee and accept the payment.

3. Prior to number 2 above, go to sevis website and print out " Payment Coupon" which you must fill out with your sevis number and your school sevis code (according to your Form-120) .

4. You will have to email or scan the payment coupon to the payer in the USA which he (the payer) or she must tender to the Western Union outlet on your behalf.

Fill the one on your i-20 on the DS-160, but tell the VO during the interview that you're going for health care informatics and that the name on your i-20 is the name of your course on the SEVIS portal.
Re: General USA Student Visa Enquiries-part 18 by JMG12: 1:36pm On Jul 18
No this won't be an issue on the day of your interview, you should mention that to the interviewer about the program and the one on the i-20.

Did you/they fill the coupon correctly? If yes, they can go into any store that does Western Union and make the payment. What the WU person needs is the coupon number and where the money is being sent to.

You can pay SEVIS if you are in the US with a personal check. Write all the information on the check and include the coupon print out

Until the moderators of this space can differentiate between genuine help and agents trying to extort, I don't see how I can share any link to a genuine group either here or via email contact, because they end up censoring the post. So please look elsewhere.

What exactly do you mean by that?

But I don't know how to go about the whole interview thing, I joined the Whatsapp transcript group but I don't understand some terms there, what does i20 mean, then ds-something, story writing, mock sessions, and other things I'm seeing but I don't even understand what they meant, can anyone put me through the meaning of these things so I can practice how to answer interviews, Is there a group that I can join that will make me understand better and how to go about the mock sessions.

Exactly what I said! Despite trying to help on here, I'm supposedly viewed by a moderator as an 'agent' and my post censored, for what reason? Simply because I sent to the person who asked, a legitimate link to a real group for date search and notified them as such through the post.

If they thought the group was a fictitious one or that I tried to extort them, I'm pretty sure they'd have made their comment on here without delay. Why being selective on which post to redact as tho they're actively on my case for the slightest mistake?! And what's the point even trying to help if unnecessary scrutiny is the priority? The excessive censorship is exaggerated.

I'll sit this one out, because it's obviously difficult for them to know who's real or not and efforts are not even appreciated. If over censoring becomes the order of the day, then I doubt people would be willing to help even when they have the answers (because their post may be deleted).

I do hope the moderators are taking note.

I see they deleted even the original post! They can as well delete this post or even get me off the space because constructive criticism isn't welcome. I thought we celebrated FREE SPEECH!!

Hey 🀠

1. Form-120 means " Admission Pack/Letter. Only USA use the term " form-i20 because Americans sees themselves as distinct in qualities than others and that is why they remain number 1. Other countries like UK, Canada, Australia , Nigeria , etc call it (Form-120) Admission letter. In summary, Americans use the term Form-120 to mean Admission letter.

2. DS-160 is the online data and information form which the USA embassy has mandated all visa applicants to fill (for free) and bring the confirmation page (after filling the form) along on the day of your visa interview. DS-160 also known as VISA application form is a very very important form because what you inputted inside DS-160 is what the USA visa officer will use to ask you question on the day of your interview.

3. Mock Sessions means the act of practising and knowing the possible questions and answers which the visa officer is likely to ask you on the day of your interview. No matter the program you are going for and no matter your circumstances you have to beleive that some people have been in that situation before. Therefore, mock session is to train you how to answer Visa Officer on the day of your interview.

4. There is no official group to join as at the time of responding to you but the moderator of this section may authorize such group as time goes by. You may however ask any questions you want right here and i am certain you will get a positive response. This particular section where you are reading from me right now is 100% better than any group. We have all the well-experienced USA visa experts here and they are ready to assist you for free.

Hey 🀠

1 Where to start is to Google Public Research Universities in the USA and pick the schools one by one. On each school website, go to International Graduate Student and study their requirements or perhaps send Application enquiry email to the
Graduate Admissions Office.

2. It depend on your program of study as well as your host-school department but 65% of USA Universities gives Entrance Fundings and you may as well secure
Graduate Assistantship or Work-Study which will reduce your tuition deficit. This however depends on your academic qualifications, reference, work-experience, test scores etc. Therefore, the 40.M NGN should be sufficient.

3 Staying in Nigeria or opting to study outside Nigeria is your absolute decision and i beleive lack of funds should not even stop you when you are determined.
