According to this report,

https://www.icirnigeria.org/about-200m-illegal-firearms-circulating-in-nigeria-gov-sani/

Uba Sani is saying 200m illegal guns dey Nigeria, assuming he's exaggerating and only half is right or even quarter that's like 50m illegal guns and you think there are no guns in Nigeria?

The only thing be say na criminals get am not law abiding citizens

Staying in relatively peaceful Lagos is a blessing

A gun for every nigerian cheesy cheesy cheesy

if we had that many illegal guns in this country most of the posters on this thread would definitely have one.

Firstly Uba Sani was exaggerating by making a statement that is not backed with data nor quoting any security report to back his claim up.

Secondly he was actually advocating for security operatives to solve insecurity issues and not for everybody to have guns. He’s making an argument that counters yours

The guns are already in the hands of people and they are not giving it back. Recently they busted a cache of weapons in Port Harcourt,

When these criminals come, law enforcement most times will bot be there either intentionally or not

So what happens next..
In the entire north we can't even count the numbers of guns

How many guns do you think are in circulation currently?

Ideally like BlueRayDick posted none. But in reality how many

if there are 200 million guns in circulation in a nation of 200 million, then there will be areas in nigeria where guns are like pure water and everyone will have one .

Baba guns are not in circulation like that. I've never in my life seen a gun physically with someone that wasn't a soldier, police or some other paramilitary, won't be the same story for someone from Southern Kaduna for example, but you get my point, the guns no dey like that.

The work involved in fixing our existing security issues is way less than the work involved in gun control in a country that's the poverty capital of the world. America's history of gun use has been in place since the founding of the country, and over the years the country has civilized itself around its use yet e still no easy for them like that with school shootings, gang violence, accidental gun deaths and all else. Now imagine what it'd be like for a country like Nigeria where our legislature is yet to make laws around some basic and obvious things, not to mention legislation then enforcement of whatever laws that'd be made around gun use.

Not zero, but not enough to push for gun rights for all and sundry.

Middle ground fit dey, something like civilian JTF is a middle ground, but then I don't see what stops the government from doing the job of protecting the citizens...Boko Haram, ISWAP and whatever else that's terrorizing people of certain parts of Nigeria is all part of government failure. The energy politicians put into suppressing reports of terrorist attacks should be channeled into providing funding and tackling the bottlenecks in the way of peace for these regions of the country where crime is now endemic.

Na UNIBEN I go, but hostel, so maybe that was why.

Ife Modakeke war has come and gone, there'd always be crime spurts but if government is doing their job of protecting citizens, we won't have violent crimes lingering. Countries in Europe, even Ghana for backyard here where they experience peace without democratizing gun use no get two heads, it's work that was put into creating and maintaining the peace they enjoy, let's put in that work and we sef would enjoy peace.

America that's gun crazy still has some of the best police force in the world, democratizing gun use is not the solution to state failure.

Akwa Ibom State finished 2022 with a N241 billion surplus and a total of N55 billion in cash sitting in bank balances. The state is able to meet all of its debt and operational obligations with N146 billion to spare.

So imagine being a governor sitting with all this cash and no real pressure from the people who never take you to task for implementing <80% of the budget consistently, even when a lot of that spending is on making government officials more comfortable and oiling the patronage system. I followed PUE closely in his campaign and he doesn't believe all those statistics of 71% in multidimensional poverty. He likely believes, like many of us do, that poverty is the natural station for some people and has nothing to do with government failure.

In any case, the incentive then becomes to spend more on oiling the political machine that keeps the people in check and quiet. And of course, corner a good chunk of the money for yourself and your cronies via expensive projects. That's how you get Hensek building more and more roads, VKS involved in multiple billion naira projects, and a tower in Lagos to be built by a contractor with an existing govt project in Uyo. Whatever happened to competitive bidding?

Akwa Ibom has plenty money, the people need selfless leaders to emerge who can figure out how to pressure the government to spend that money on the masses. https://twitter.com/docneto/status/1814034991036440770?t=zLw1kuKFBE3XqFtyp2L6kQ&s=19

I still discussed this with somebody yesterday night.

Nigerians need to learn to know how to eat and not talk while eating . When u eat and talk , there are a whole lot of things that can happen to u. U can choke, the food might drop from ur mouth and even u can attract those that will take away the food from u.

No be only Nigerians Dey japa; Indians, Pakistanis and even Chinese Dey japa well well. Most of them Dey exploit some of these immigration systems in the west and they don’t make annoying videos about it like this one . I don’t know why we can’t resist the urge to put our business online.

I have a friend that is currently in the Ireland that is currently trying to see through the same asylum process . I really fear if this kind nonsense video/vlog will not affect his chances sef 🤦‍♂️

As long as you did everything legally and was rightly approved by the relevant authorities you can post whatever you want on social media especially a harmless video documenting your journey.

Is it really about being loud?

Are you sure the Indians and Chinese are not loud too?

Remember that your SM won't show you Chinese or Pakistani videos. The algorithms will only pick English related ones.

social media and posting is all about personal and individual differences, it doesn't have race specific

Go to travel section on tick tock and see people posting their travel exploits all over the place..

I’m not forming my opinion from not seeing Indians or Pakistani’s videos online , I’m actually forming my opinion from first hand information from people abroad whom I’ve discussed with .

I also form my opinion from Indians, Lebanese and other Asians in this country .

Nigerians are unusually too loud .

Most people who claim asylum abroad usually formulate lies like “ I am gay and my life is in danger in Nigeria due to anti LGBTQ laws in Nigeria”, “ My life is in danger due to ethnic cleansing/jihadists/terrorism in Nigeria “ , etc.

When such person successfully convince them abroad and gets the asylum , in my opinion it makes no sense for that person to be making videos about such stuff like u gamed the system and u want others to know about it. Who does that ?
