Fake news. Absolutely fake. Shell has not existed exploration. They have so many subsidiaries. This man is doing agenda news.

They are still very active in offshore exploration.

lol 😂

The problem with u is even if evidence is provided to u during a discussion, u will ignore the evidence and start talking out of point .

The man mentioned shell exiting onshore exploration, u called it fake news. Something that made the news earlier this year .

https://www.thecable.ng/shell-exits-onshore-exploration-in-nigeria-sells-assets-for-1-3bn/amp/

Maybe u don’t even understand what they mean when they say an international firm exits the country . I’m sure u also think ShopRite is still in Nigeria because there are Nigerian owned stores that make use of the name SHOPRITE

Do you believe all the figures that man put up there?.

Are they to be selling crude to Dangote everyday? NNPC that promised to supply 300, 000 barrel of crude to Dangote. Are you saying they don't know what they were saying?

Oya provide alternative figures that u have

This is what you posted. Stop this thing you are doing. This is what you posted that shell has left. I said is a lie. Fake news. I said shell is still in Nigeria with many subsidiaries.

Go to Shell Nigeria site or Google Shell Nigeria Exploration and Production Company.

This is the fact of the matter for those who cares to read it. They also gave reasons why they want to sell their onshore subsidiary. To reduce carbon emissions on their own part.

Not on crude oooo.
Lets assume Dangote is importing crude oil and processing it to fuel.
If he wants to sell that to marketers, at what rate will he sell?
It will be higher than what nnpc sells because nnpc is reducing the price of fuel with subsidy payment.

Now I'm saying nnpc can pay Dangote that subsidy to reduce the amount he will sell to the marketers.
But how much profit will be there considering he is still sourcing for crude outside the country.
Now it would have helped if Dangote could get crude oil from nnpc directly.
We save alot more on that.
If they decide to do that can Dangote produce fuel for the whole Nigeria?

Exactly! You can question the hypocrisy of wanting to enjoy monopoly of selling petrol in Nigeria but the benefits it will be to our economy not to mention the multiplier effect on various industries pales in comparison to the damage fuel importation and subsidy has inflicted on the country.

I doubt any serious protest will happen jare. It is obvious the government won’t allow any peaceful protest .

The government has succeeded in pitching the people against themselves . Some people would rather die than to speak out against the directionlessness and impoverishing policies of their fave.

Make everybody rest jare .

I believed that shit too until fairly recently. Up until maybe about 2022, I thought that Nigeria's continued failure was mostly down to internal self sabotage, and that global powers aren't really interested in Nigeria because it's just not that important anymore.

Then I filed an FOIA lawsuit requesting the FBI and 5 other agencies to release Candidate Bola Tinubu’s drug trafficking investigation files which were relevant to Nigeria's 2023 presidential election, and I witnessed live and direct, the US government playing "tortoise and rabbit" with me, and transforming into Nigerian Police/EFCC - including "losing" documents and lying in court - because they were protecting this criminal whom they clearly had an interest in empowering as Nigeria's president.

I don't agree nnpc should totally rely on Dangote.

But I also agree nnpc has to give some favouritism to Dangote.

Now how they plan to do that, I don't know.
Another important question is how much do the guys at nnpc make from importation that they pocket?
I believe that goes into account as to why nnpc (cabal) won't move body to give Dangote any real help.

Another question is this, if we have atleast private refineries asking for this sort of thing that Dangote alone asked for, would you be alot more comfortable?

We all know there's massive corruption in NNPC, nobody can really deny that, the crux of the matter is that we shouldn't be giving Dangote the sole right to supply us refined fuel in a country that's dependent on fuel

Dangote can ask other incentive like tax breaks, subsidy if possible and the likes.

Once we have different local players refining fuel, we can begin to talk of stopping importation. Not now

The improvement in power supply we're experiencing now cannot be attributed to the rainy season, as the hydro power plant's contribution to the national grid is relatively small, accounting for less than 7% of our total megawatts. This suggests that other sources, such as gas-fired power plants, or improved transmission infrastructure, are playing a more significant role in boosting power supply.

Maybe you are right but I know the raining season does help

So, u as a Nigerian citizen living in Nigeria as of today, which do u prefer?

Dangote selling fuel at premium price or NNPC selling fuel at subsidized price?

NOTE THAT: Dangote can still sell his product to any Market other than the Nigerian market where there's still some sort of subsidy o.

I just find it puzzling that suddenly the common Nigerian is fighting tooth and nail for Dangote even when it appears there's no obvious inherent benefit in it for them.

Is it the opposition to the government that makes people this kinda stand?
It goes without saying, you don't even need to ask grin

Where did I say I'll support Dangote even if he sells high?
Why would I do that?
I even brought up subsidy argument for him because that's the only way it can work as I see it.

Yunno what, Dangote refinery dey freetrade zone.
He can by oil from outside Nigeria, process it and sell the byproducts to the rest of Africa.

Per Dangote wailing that he is 67 years and would soon be 70, and doesn't need much more money to see out his life, it suggests that his cash position is fraught and he fears being overwhelmed by loan repayments on his refinery, and needs that refinery to turn over cash at an unforeseen rate

It seems Baba overextended himself with his loans. E no easy to earn in Naira and pay back loans at $1 : N1600 for those billions wey he borrow

You just Dey know this one ? That’s why some of us are not buying into his emotional blackmail trying to hoodwink the common man into siding with his business’ fight for market share and eventual profitability .

As much as he may try to make it seem he’s not supported well enough by government ; Dangote remains the top Nigerian businessman that has enjoyed government support the most.

To add to this, NNPC failed to pay $1.6bln for their share of the refinery in June, whittling down their shareholding from 20% to 7.2% as a result.

Another $1.6bln that Dangote needs to find suddenly. To restructure that loan, he needs to show strong cash flows from the refinery immediately, that's why he is wailing

For a man said to be worth $13bln, most of which is paper valuation (not cash) and building a refinery with $19bln, I'd wager he is way overextended on debt, and to compound the problem is now paying back debt on an unforeseen exchange rate
