I've been using this my PC Dell Inspiron core i5, 1TB 8GB for the past 7 years and it's working so perfectly except bad battery
I use it for architectural and structural design work and sometimes play soccer on it whenever I'm less busy
I notice today as I am enjoying my pes that my system just suddenly became so hot that I quickly take it away from my lap and I notice the fan isn't blowing.
It still work well yesterday but as I on it today is another story
What could be the cause and what is the possible solution
Thanks

Since you noticed the fan isn’t blowing there’s need to check the fan to see if it has gone bad and the cause of overheating. So take the system to a hardware engineer for troubleshooting. You can turn the back of the laptop and blow air through the vent with your mouth while the laptop is ON to see if dust or debris stuck the fan.

What do you want to use the laptop for?

840 G3 is a good laptop, I hope it came with 8/256gb? You can use it for graphic design and even play light game, you can use it for programming too if you want.

Thank for your replied

Yeah it comes with 8/256g, what light game I can play on it

I want to use it for software testing

Backup the PC and reinstall windows. Then run windows update after the installation to update your drivers. It is possible the rar file was the culprit that compromised your OS infecting it with virus or malware.

Before proceeding to format, remember to backup your files

Another alternative is to remove the HDD, slave it in another PC and run chkdsk drive letter: /f /r

You may require an IT specialist to carry out the above.

In case you do require an IT expert services, kindly specify your location let’s see if any of them near your location on this Forum will assist.

Thanks.

Thanks alot, I had to wipe the entire hard drive and put new windows..didn't backup the former one because I don't want the virus to find it way in again.

Either make use of VGA or HDMI to connect the laptop to an external monitor or TV to see if it will display. The external monitor will only display when the system boot to Windows. If it displays on the external monitor; try to update your graphics through devices drivers or download via your manufacturer website by entering the exact system model and OS.

Another option is to hard reset the laptop

1. Unplug the laptop from charging
2. Press and hold the power button till the laptop switches off completely. All the lights should be off before you proceed to No. 3
3. Remove the battery
4. Press and hold the power button for 30 secs
5. Plug the laptop to charge without putting the battery
6. Press the power button to switch ON the laptop plugged to charge without the battery

Wait and see if the system comes on.

If the above options does not work try updating your BIOS. Download the latest bios on your manufacturer’s website then run the file using steps to update your bios

Replacing the screen will be the last option after checking the screen connector and flex

My laptop Wi-Fi connection is not strong enough, this started happening after I went to replace the battery at computer village.
Please, is there anything I can do to make the wi-fi connection stronger?

The main or auxiliary antenna wire is either not connected or it's been interchanged.

Does it see Wi-Fi network around your area or only within the house? There’s need to troubleshoot and check the wireless adapter to be sure the cables are properly connected. You need an IT specialist to assist you and we have many of them on this Forum who are in Lagos.

Thank you for assistance.
After the technician fixed the battery, the system did not start, he said the RAM (like picture above) is not strong again, then he used his own to jumpstart it and later put my own. I think that is where the problem originated from

If I understand you correctly, your laptop is connected to different WiFi connections and also through Hotspot but unable to access internet.

Kindly go to your laptop Wi-Fi adapter settings then right click properties and select IP V4 to check if there’s any static IP address configured on the adapter.

If the above did not solve your issue you can share the screenshot for further troubleshooting.

I recently got a new Dell Latitude 7400 2-in-1, after about 3 days I started noticing some very thin lines that kind of flicker on the screen, it appears sometimes and disappears, maybe for a day i might not see it but sometimes it comes a bit agressively. Sometimes the screen just flickers,it's very fast and thin that my camera can't capture it or else i record a video of it. Please What do i do?
I have been feeling so bad since cry

Sometimes the screen just flickers,it's very fast and thin that my camera can't capture it or else i record a video of it. Please What do i do?

The main reasons why your laptop is flickering:

Your drivers are outdated or incorrectly installed.
The monitor is short-circuiting because of residual power.
The cables aren't connected properly or are damaged.
The refresh rate of your monitor isn't synchronized.
There are issues with your video card.
Your monitor displays the wrong resolution.
Here are few solutions that you can try to fix flickering issue in HP laptop or any other laptop:

1. Check Your Monitor and Cables:

First thing to check is connections. Check all the cable connections from the monitor to the computer, take them out and plug them back in to ensure the cables are secure.

Cables can degrade over time, or maybe damaged. Either way, switch the cable and see if it stops screen flickering.
If you can, try a different monitor. If this resolves the problem, you know it's your monitor that's the issue. At that point, contact the manufacturer for support or to raise a warranty claim.
2. Reset Your Display Driver

You might have an old driver or a faulty new one. Let's make sure you are running the right version for your system.

Press Windows key + I to open Settings.
Select Update & Security > Recovery.
Underneath Advanced start-up, click Restart now.
When your system restarts, select Troubleshoot > Advanced options > Startup settings > Restart.
Again, once restarted, select option five to launch your PC into Safe Mode with Networking.
Next, use Device Manager to uninstall the display driver:

Press Windows key + X and click Device Manager.
Double-click on Display adaptors to expand the category.
Right-click your graphics card, click Uninstall device, check Delete the driver software for this device and then click OK.
Restart your system again.
3. Disable Windows Desktop Manager

Desktop Window Manager is an all-encompassing window manager that makes all of those appealing transparent windows, live taskbar thumbnails and high-resolution monitor support features possible.

There is a chance that the window manager’s processes are responsible for your laptop screen flickering.

To disable Desktop Window Manager follow these steps:

Step 1. Access the Power User menu by right-clicking the Windows taskbar icon.

Step 2. Select “Run.”

Step 3. Type “services.msc” into the Run dialog box.

Step 4. Locate “Desktop Window Manager Session Manager.”

Step 5. Right-click on it and select “Stop.”

Step 6. Right click “Desktop Window Manager Session Manager” again

Step 7. Select “Properties.”

Step 8. Under the “General” tab, modify the start-up type to “Disabled.”

Step 9. Press “OK.”

Thanks.

Your house earthing maybe faulty and leaking. Observe if it does same in your office and try using another charger to see if it still shocks. Either of the two options will work.

If there’s provision for M.2 on the motherboard, you can. Alternatively, you replace with SATA SSD if you do not want HDD in your PC.

Does it boot properly after the formatting? Then how long do you use the PC before it crashes?

The above answers will aid further assistance.

Reinstall the OS, then make sure you delete all volumes including Windows reserved volume of 500MB. Create New Volume and format it before installing Windows. After the installation, check the drivers that installed and use compatible drivers downloaded from manufacturers website to install. Do not use DriverPack or softwares that install unverifiable drivers.

Also turn off Windows update from regedit because it’s likely you are using KMS tool that cause system crash after WindowsAutoUpdate. If the above issue does not work, kindly revert back for further assistance.
