It baffles me too. Whenever I'm making a transaction, I stop everything I'm doing and concentrate on carefully imputing the sender's account details and confirm the name before sending.

Really? They didn't return mine, the number I send to was no longer in use due to NIN, the line was blocked. OPAY asked me to tell the guy to reactivate the line.

And because the sender made mistake, he or she shouldn't get help from Opay or the bank to get his or her money back? Or, what exactly is your problem with Opay helping the senders getting their money back? You people will cease to amaze us

I once did such a mistake. I was in a bar and the barman said he was not accepting transfer due to some reasons so I asked him to call a POS vendor and he called the vendor's name Samuel, lo and behold Samuel came and I asked for his account number which called and said access bank. So when I typed the account number and clicked access bank. It displayed SAMUEL .... and I clicked confirm and it was successful only for the POS vendor to tell me that he is yet to get the alert . 10minutes later he is yet to receive the money . I had to show him the debit alert on my phone that was when he noticed that the Samuel I sent to was with a different surname . I had to accept the blaas I did not ask for his surname before I confirmed the details. I went to access bank the next day and I was told that the owner of the account I sent to had not used the account for over 2years and that the can't reverse the money Without communicating with him. His phone number is not reachable.

Account number goes with a name. Does it mean the wrong account number still showed the recipients name or what . I don't get this story. If the name doesn't match. Why will u proceed ?

Airtime purchase is different from bank transfer. I don't expect anyone to make mistake with bank transfer, because the name must tally before u confirm.

Sometimes, you're looking at the name but you don't pay attention to it until it is too late.
The only time I transferred 25k into wrong account number was when I was given a small button phone to do the transfer by the owner of the account and the phone. I didn't scroll down to where the name was before sending the money not knowing that I made mistake with the account number

What if the recipient mobile number is not registered as an OPay account?

I believe opay must have at least the nin or bvn linked with the which they can use to trace his or her other account or even house address

What you believe doesn't make it to be false. Mistakes do occur when you leasst expect. That's why it is called mistake. I have wrongly transferred money to another account instead of my own account. My account number ends in 757 but i sent the money to another one thats ends in 575. I know the stress I went through plus the money sent before I got my money back . Nobody is infallible.

A Hausa okada rider mistakenly transfered 8k to my Opay account a few weeks ago. He called to tell me and I sent it back to him.

In fact I had to download Opay again coz I'd not used it for months.

we reach out to Access bank but they told us they will contact opay and it is more than 72 hours now and we are yet to get any feedback from them. I will post all the guy information here as he has onced work as a special assistant in ondo state.
