He will still be sacked, I believe he's still there as a political soft landing.

After all the other "juicy" post has gone to SW, if he removes Mele Kyari and put another Southerner, the cries and marginalization of the North go enter another overdrive.

I really don't buy this school of thought honestly. After Emefiele's sack, the next person that deserved sack the most is Mele Kyari, there's no justification as to why he still has a job. The NNPC has several high ranking northerners still within the organization if it is about not wanting to appoint a southerner in his stead.

The guy messed up all through Buhari's tenure and he's still messing up till date.

We've lost count of the number of times we've had fuel scarcity while he's the NNPC GMD. The guy just keeps issuing apology every now and then for NNPC's mess up under his watch.

Imagine spending 3-4 hours on fuel queue only to buy at fuel for as much as N900/liter angry

That is what all the protests of hunger in the North are really about, imho.

I disagree with this.

While we are buying fuel for N568 at NNPC's official pump price in the south, they have buying for close to N700 in the north. Only God knows how much they will be buying it now.

There is serious hardship in this country and the northerners are actually worse hit.

Nigeria is an import dependent country where most imported goods berths in the south before being transported down to the north. The transportation cost and multiple taxation in form of "settling" security operatives on the road has already made some items out of the reach of common man.

For example, if we in Lagos are complaining about the cost of car tyres, spare parts, engine oil, etc....What do u think the cost will be in the north after those parts are transported to the north?

I don't even understand why Pro-government groups and supporters are pretending as if all is well in the country and that the people crying hardship are just mischief makers. shocked

Since the implementation of the PIB, NNPC is on paper a private limited liability company. As far as I can tell, it is not even listed on the stock exchange.

A private company owned by the federal government ?

Was it not Tinubu that appointed the board of NNPC in November 2023 ?

What happens to NNPC?
The bill is seeking to create an entity called the Nigerian National Petroleum Corporation Limited, a corporate entity incorporated under the Companies and Allied Matters Act. This must be done six months after the commencement of this bill by the Minister of Petroleum.

Section 53(3) provides that the ownership of all shares in the incorporated NNPC shall be vested with the government, and the Ministries of Finance and Petroleum shall hold the shares on behalf of the government. The shares are not transferable.

Sections 53 (7,cool provides that NNPC Limited must operate as an “efficient profit-making entity,” declare dividends and also pay all fees, rents, royalties, profit oil share taxes and other requirements on any lease or licence.

All assets, interests and liabilities of NNPC are to be transferred to NNPC Limited within 18 months of incorporation. At the end of the transfer, NNPC shall cease to exist. The government is to take over all interests, liabilities and asset not transferred to NNPC limited. Sections 55 and 56 provide the process of managing the transition.

Employees of NNPC
Section 57 provides that all employees of NNPC are to be deemed employees of NNPC Limited as soon as the latter is incorporated. Their conditions and terms must not be less favourable than when they were in the NNPC.

Its CEO and board will still be appointed by the president. However, this is to change when the government is owning part of the corporation, not whole. The appointment of the board will be done by shareholders.

As part of its responsibilities, NNPC Limited will manage all petroleum sharing contracts on behalf of the government, lift and sell royalty and tax oil on behalf of the commission and will be vested with the right to natural gas under the production sharing contracts entered into, prior to the commencement of the bill.

If Tinubu appoint Pius Akinyelure his ally and former vice chairman of APC as chairman of the board of NNPC , I don’t think he should have issues sacking Kyari jare .

Until it finally list on NSE, it remains fully owned and controlled by the government.

We are saying the same thing . This ur post corroborates my point .

NNPC is a private company owned by federal government and the power to hire and fire anybody on the board lies with the minister of petroleum in person of Tinubu himself

It is normal for people like Ndume to wail because of selfish interest na, but sacking of someone like Kyari is actually justifiable aswear.

Anytime there's fuel scarcity, the guy will just release one yeye press release that doesn't even address the cause of the scarcity. He will just be using ambigious terms.

Just look at how the head of secret service in America was asked to resign for the incompetence of hER subordinates. That's how people holding sensitive positions like Kyari ought to be held accountable

The MTN staff addressed the crowd and told them the fault is from NCC who authorized TELCOS to bar people's lines.

I strongly believe this is beyond NIN.

So all these Nigerians have incorrect NIN all these while?

They better not burn down the country by themselves

They had some cracking shots in this episode.

Tbe opening scene on the beach was great. The scene where Rhaenyra puts her hand out to command Vermithor was fücking flames. The scene where she turns around to address the ambitious bastards with Vermithor lurking behind her like a a roided-up demon from a Mike Bamiloye movie was even more incredible.

Then this shot in the final scene as the piece de resistance. Mehn chef's kiss.
