PSmurf: Before donation there are tests that should be done on the donor(collection point/blood bank) After donation the recipient who is to be transfused is also tested (labs) The person transfusing the blood ideally should check to avoid clerical errors and should also do some necessary checks before transfusion and document what should be done in event of a transfusion reaction(DR) Now note in event of massive blood loss commonly experienced in some cases of leiomyomas that are very large some as large as 40 weeks gestation its always a very risky procedure and the patients are always counselled on the possibility of the surgery ending into the removal of the uterus(hysterectomy)..if bleeding can't be managed intraop Only specialist are allowed to carry out myomectomy..but some ppl do pass themselves just becos they have seen it being done severally. My take here is a severely anaemic patient developing hemolytic transfusion reaction further worsening her anaemia..can also trigger an Acute kidney injury If not properly perfused. Any Nigerian student that passes tru a Nigerian medical school is a hot cake anywhere in the world..they smash any exam they set their minds on..the fact that you are opputuned to have them take care of you it's a privilege. But there are many auxiliary male nurses posing as Dr's in nigeria today...see alot of these around and am disappointed. |

PSmurf: Un educated idiots will just come online and day trash. First how true is the narrative that she died of wrong blood transfusion. It's also in the write up that the death is mysterious and also an investigation into the death has been requested . How then is then did they come to conclusion that cause of death is wrong blood transfusion. Secondly... is it Doctors that group and cross match blood for transfusion or the lab scientist. Some of you just look for any opportunity to insult doctors. Non sense. |

Re: Ulonna Inyama Dies After Alleged Wrong Blood Transfusion In Abuja Hospital by Solidex(m): 2:19pm On Jul 31 |
PSmurf: If you were are intelligent enough, you would have known that, it is not the duty of a Dr. to cross match blood. Screening tests and other examinations needed to test the safety and compatibility of blood for human reception is a duty of the lab scientists and less often haematologist. The role of a Dr. in this scenario is to recommend transfusion of blood if the need be, and to receive it from the lab for onward delivery to the patient whenever it is ready. So, the problem is not always the Dr. There are many professionals that works hand in hand in the course of treating a patient. Moreover, can you actually beat your chest or stick out your neck, that it was complications of transfusion that killed that patient? What if there were other complications of fibroid that could have killed her or other illnesses not related to fibroid. Medical practice has always been a noble profession either at home or over sea and Nigerian Doctors still remains one of the best amongst their likes. So, don't come here to tarnish the image of such a noble profession over a news that have not even verified enough. 1 Like |

So how did they know it was a wrong blood transfusion? Did they conduct any post- transfusion investigation? Any direct or indirect coombs test? Any autopsy? Hw come they're not linking the death to the surgery itself rather to the transfusion? Sometimes these doctors fit mess up and try to throw other professionals under the bus to cover their asses. Anyway, I hope the lab has records of all the pints issued for the deceased. |

Creamypie: Mr/Mrs Jeohover witness, pray, jsut pray you dont find yourself in a situation where your only chance of survical hinges on transfussion of blood, then you would understand that your common sense, your wisdom, overrides any biblical teaching or religious doctrine. This common sense I mentioned earlier, is the reason why most of your pastors or Daddy GOs have personal Drs who check them up from time to time, thats why they dont hesitate to consult their Dr. Or Visit their clinic at the slightest sign of any abnormality. But, the Morons who are mere follows would foolishly hold onto their Biblical verses that preaches against getting medical help in the face of a dare medical emergency. Don't go and die of ignorance because, SB told you not to receive blood when you are bleeding out. |

celestineteryim: Government propaganda zombiƩ. Is Obi the president of Nigeria? Did Obi announce removal of subsidy and exchange rate deregulation that plunged Nigeria into this economic crisis? Did Obi start a phantom multi-trillion naira road project when tons of existing federal roads are in deplorable conditions? I guess you're too stupid to realise that a lot of Nigerians don't like any of the existing class of politicians in Nigeria, from Tinubu the destroyer to Obi the liar and Atiku the pretender. If you quote me to type stupid things thunder will strike you down where you are |
