Funny enough, I apologised to him. The only reason I renewed that particular domain is because of the offer I got last year from a buyer who ghosted. That's all.
So why don't you want to sell it,since he got an offer already

have you outbound before? What then is said of my time and data o let's throw it away because he owns the domain. If he can do as he Pleases he shouldn't have email me.
Sorry bro,I get you now, didn't know someone made offer for the domain already

Did he inform you about the renewal after you told him you got a $100 offer or before he knew about the 100usd offer?
Before 5pm I was done outbounding for that domain. At 7:53pm he sent me the mail that he is renewing and at 18:05pm I received first offer for the domain. I can't tell what goes on in his dan dashboard. Two offers so far

He never mentioned an offer until I renewed it.

So you knew you were going to renew and still allowed me to outbound. People shouldn't deal with you since you are fickle in decision making. After all you will just apologize when you change your mind.
Yes, no one should deal with me. You are too dramatic, man.

I wasn't aware of any offer. I renewed the domain and immediately reached out to him to stop outbounding.

You had funds to renew the name and you can't even compensate him for his data and time spent?

How will you feel If you were the one they did this to?

Let's be reasonable atimes.

Wouldn't be an issue if we had an agreement on that. Our agreement was a 50-50 split if a domain is sold. That is more than fair, if you ask me. Try to be reasonable and understand all facts before jumping in, man.

No, I wouldn't. Like I mentioned in my chats with him, I have outbounded this particular domain so much and the highest offer I got was 300 which I countered 400 and the buyer ghosted. If his buyer is willing to pay 300, then I can let it go for that amount otherwise it makes no sense to me.

you used him for the fact that you didn't state the fact you'll only consider $300 offer and above, you supplied him only domain expiring in few days which logically means you're liquidating them for any possible offer now two offer was received according to the guy that's when you make the decision to renew because you're now more confident about the domain, why didn't you renew other domain you gave him that hasn't received an offer yet, your action is what called trying to play smart take it or leave it!!!!!

Put yourself in his shoes that's the point I'm making.

Must you have an agreement to be reasonable?

But the bolded wasn't part of the initial agreement.

To be honest, what you did can be said to be Bait and Switch which is an undesirable practice in the business world. Since you reached out to him first, you should have thought about it deeply before asking him the go ahead.

I understand that priorities change and you have the right to retain your domain, however, you just wasted his efforts, time, and data with nothing in return. And yes, just SORRY is not ideal in this situation since he's doing this for money.

To put this issue to bed, both parties can agree on any of these recommendations:

1. Compensate him monetarily for his time, data, efforts, and emotions invested

2. Gift him another name that's near expiry (his initial request)

3. Make a commitment to offer him a percentage of the profit if the contested domain eventually sell in future

4. Offer him more domains to work on to increase a chance of sale, so you can reward him afterwards

Mahvie, I'd advise you stop sounding like what you did was right, the other party has a right to be aggrieved, especially when an offer came through. Instead, you both should resolve this amicably.

nkeona, I understand how tough things might be with you right now, but rest assured that better days are coming. Find a common ground with the counterparty and move on.

God bless you both.

Why is always risky and discouraging to do businesses with faceless Nigerians online? Why many naija online business people always playing half clever and half smart? gush... i know the guy saw the offer on his Dashboard and quickly renew. Compensate the guy even if it is 10k and move on instead of proving half smart. We are not babies here. Try this in advanced country and you will pay heavily for it.

Boss I admire your confidence in saying nonsense without having an understanding of the whole matter, to be honest. You are just making assumptions, boldly.

Firstly, the domain was priced high even with few days remaining to expiration. He can bear witness to this. I intentionally left the price high because of the previous offers I had received on the domain. He suggested I reduce it which I did.

About 24hrs later, I was going through my domains at dynadot and changed my mind. I decided to renew the domain and increase the price back. (Note: I was not aware of any offer from him. He didn't tell me anything).

Immediately after renewing the domain and increasing the price, I sent an email to him to stop outbounding. He was angry which is quite understandable. I apologised and ask if he was still interested and he told me to Bleep off and all that. He only made mention of an $100 offer after I had renewed the domain and increase the price.

As for the reason I chose to renew this particular domain. Like I said, I left the price high even with few days to expiration intentionally. I was considering renewing it but wasn't 100% sure. A part of me wanted to drop it while another part felt like I should renew it that the previous buyer who offered $300 and ghosted might be waiting for it to drop. I was on the fence on this until I was going through my dynadot list and saw that dynadot valued it at $4558. I checked Godaddy and also saw it was valued at $1419.

Ordinarily, I don't care much about valuations but when I took into account that the domain has also received some offers in the past, I decided to give it another shot and renew it.

I 100% accept my fault in all this. This is something that we could have resolved between eachother but he was more focused on "dragging" me.
I hope this explanation helps?

I totally accept my fault in all this which was why the first thing I did immediately after telling him to stop outbounding was issue an apology. I apologised to him. As for resolution, it's up to him. I already mentioned it to him that I have several domains that he can outbound. If he is still interested, he should let me know. I hate unnecessary drama.

I have intel of a roofer and plumbing guy who posted their newly registered business names on a forum, I checked it out and discovered that both have not registered a domain.

Would it be considered illegal to register such names and offer it for sale to j?

That will be considered as cyber squatting, and it's chargeable in court. I'm not saying you can't aquire such a name or names, but it has it own cons.

Hash realities of Domain Names Investment.

- Its basics lies in understanding the value of a name and get it with money which ranges from ($1 - $1M).

- A significant part of the industry have been dominated by early comers.

- You can buy a name for $1 and sell for $1M.

- You won't be able to sell all your names.

- Anything cannot sell, only what someone has interest in.

- Until you have a buyer in mind, you're a collector.

- Look forward to a sale when you have a willing buyer.

- One domain sale can change your life.

- Most big sales are done between a combo of higher level business connections.

- With domaining, you'll learn to think in years, not days or months.

- You can hold a name till the end of time and never sells.

- Renewal sucks. 😎

- Domaining ain't dead, and will never die so far the internet continues to exists!
