Dear Sycophants,

On August 29 2023, Tinubu’s government promised to create 50 million jobs and revive the economy.

This is almost one year. How far with your messiah’s plan?

This isn't exactly bad news for those laid off cos they will get very handsome severance packages. According to the news most of those laid off are senior executives and senior executives will be well compensated.
They can easily move on and start a new life

Lol. You didn't see the bigger negative impacts. One, these are the employees probably nearing retirement age. The opportunity for young job seekers to replace them is gone.
Two, this shows that company is gradually packing up because sacking 100 employees at a time is a bigger problem.
And three, most of them might not have ready for new adventures/businesses which means that some of them will eventually waste their compensation on trials and errors

Are traditionalists not part of the problem?

Who creates charms and power for this politicians that enable then to act recklessly.
The secret cults and societies our politicians belong to, are they not from our traditional societies?

You have very valid points. But I think that true Patriotism can not be found amongst christians and muslims as it directs outward: christians look up to Jews/Europeans, while muslims adore Arabs. Our social institutions are now very weak, the craze for immediate wealth is the new demand; even the traditionalists have to survive and have keyed in. Secret cults are not necessarily bad if you read about them; again, social values have fallen and otherwise worthy associations are now looked at in disdain. The Ogboni secret cult of old Yoruba land had the responsibility of keeping the leadership in check. Today, cults are about taking scores of people killed.

Of course its a problem and thats not new to so many other companies that are faced with the economic challenges biting hard on bizs. As a matter of fact, the situation isnt even that bad for IHS, because so many other businesses have packed up totally and left Nigeria
If they decide to pack up and leave totally do u know how many people would lose their jobs?? So 100 people or thousands of workers being laid, off u decide?
And three, most of them might not have ready for new adventures/businesses which means that some of them will eventually waste their compensation on trials and errors
I honestly still dont understand what your point is or the sense in it.
If a senior executive is already nearing retirement age and is "handsomely" rewarded what then is the problem. Afterall he still would have been officially retired inba few years anyway
(Mind u because they are senior executives does not mean they are/should be nearing retirement age. There are senior executives at the age of 35!!!)
Also it seems u dont know the kind of company IHS is, its a multinational not a small Nigerian 1man biz. You think when they lay off their senior executives they will be paid peanuts?? No!! Some of these senior executives are paid well over 50m if not even up to 100m are u saying thats still not enough to start a meaningful living?

I sympathise with anyone that loses his job in these difficult times.

The reality is that every business goes through a circle. There are times you make profit. Occasionally, there can be a loss. That's business life.

If a company like this one which has been making billions in Nigeria every year for several years suddenly makes a loss, it is not nice but it is also not the end of the world.

Besides, Google, Facebook, Tesla etc have been laying off hundreds of thousands of employees in 'sane clime' USA.

Are they also based in Nigeria.

The global economy is going through a difficult circle. Virtually every country is affected one way or the other.
So because Google and Co layed off their employees, so it must happen to Nigeria? What you should be concerned here is that the reason why they lay off their staffs in Nigeria..If Nigeria economy is very sound, it would not happen and it is not ideal for you to justify the reason for their decision just because other companies are doing the same in other countries.. They have two different reasons and it is not totally related to economy which is basically because of AI technology infact cisco company are not investing on their networking business they are focus on AI and cybersecurity

The bolded parts clearly showed the low level of your understanding of financial management. No money is too large for someone who has been an employee all of his life to mismanage or invest wrongly most especially if such employee didn't prepare years ahead of his retirement such as in this case

Haba Bros... 50m or 100m as severance package for a company that has been making losses since 2021...

Go check out thier financial statements for last year and see the amount of losses that was incurred mostly because of FX
