Think of what will become of SE by then, losing back to back I guess

SE will be fine. They won’t be asking South Africa to help them fight their opponents. We know who is begging SA to help them fight Igbos.

Even if they don’t have presidency, they have a long standing partnership with the PDP, and if a SS person is in power, they will always need a lot of SE people to help bring good governance like GEJ did. And don’t be surprised the north and SS and the many good people of the SW don’t have a problem with Igbo presidency. Tinubu supporters are the only people who do. The hate and envy was much and it went unknown and unnoticed for a very long time, but now everyone knows.

Worry about what will become of Tinubu supporters when they’re abandoned by everyone. Abandoned by the north for being disloyal, and by the SS for being tribal bigots and betrayers.

I know you’ll be here asking what you did to everyone by then, because you never acknowledge your issues and you never own up, being cowards every time.

Now, he has the right to defend himself in court. Looking at the case against him, he would be lucky to get away with ten years in jail. It may be worse. That guy will be locked up for a very long time.

You can't access all information using FOIA, yes, however, in the case that you do gain access to information and then release it as a whistleblower, whistleblowing and stop-gap protection kick in. Both the FOIA and Corrupt Practices Acts of the ICPC provide coverage in those cases. undecided

Again, you must not try to access Classified information, let alone distribute it. It's a criminal offence.

The corrupt practices and other related offences act does not protect criminals, and in this case, the guy was distributing classified information and not whistleblowing any corrupt practices being perpetrated by any agency.

I heard one Yoruba guy on an interview say tinubu's government is favouring the Igbos. You he didn't lie I will tell you why. Study the body language of the Igbos you will see that most of them are not vocal with the way Hausa or Yoruba are complaining. The issue that the Igbos have with tinubu is his background. You guys won't understand it cos our culture differ

It is no longer about Tinubu, but Nigerians who refused to come out in overwhelming number to protest. If just 1 million Nigerians came out in one city, the overwhelming multitude would force the police and army would get out of the way. Tomorrow you guys would go online to call yourselves GIANT of Africa. Giant Cowards.

I doubt fuel price officially exceeded N11.00 per litre even if it was scarce.

The exchange didn't go beyond N87 to the dollar in the parallel market rate and was fixed at N22 in the official market.

Fuel now costs Naira 1000 and they still have yet to show up to protest in large numbers. undecided

Below is the information I was searching for earlier. That is from the Freedom of Information Act 2011. Merely saying a document is classified does not mean it is precluded. Also, once a person obtains such a classified document, possibly by using the FOIA, there is no restriction on such a person from sharing the same record with the public. undecided

Nigeria definitely needs loads more investigative journalists, it seems since their low numbers enable the government to continue to intimidate them.

In a saner clime, he will go home with billions of naira for unlawful detention, as all the charges preferred against him are all bailable cases. When we are almost tilting to be a banana Republic, anything goes in my country, Nigeria.
Why should a person be detained for 28 days without charging him to court and your kind is rejoicing over it in a country with constitution.
Remember when you point one finger at someone, the remaining 4 fingers are pointing at you back. A day of retribution is coming.
Subsection 6 of section 35 of the Nigerian Constitution allows him to claim compensation for his illegal arrest and detention coupled with the inhumane treatment he received from the authorities while in their custody(illegally). What Nigeria needs is a set of good lawyers to argue successfully for such compensation. That will in turn deter officers from attempting such foolishness going forward. undecided

Tinubu and Co enjoyed opposition so well. In fact, it was the opposition and propaganda that brought them to power. Today, nobody is free to talk or protest and his ronu miscreants are all happy. These antecedents that tinubu is setting will haunt his people so terribly bad any time apc loses power. Thank God 95% of the people he plans to arrest concerning the protest are all Yorubas

It's still the same thing. FOIA requests for classified documents must be approved by the public institution. In his own case, it was secretly leaked to him.

And you are correct about further distribution of any documents "already approved" and received through a FOIA request. Once it has been approved, it becomes declassified, and can be distributed.

But remember, he got the documents through the backdoor, not through a FOIA request, which makes it illegal.

The public officer that leaked it will also go to prison unless he/she can prove it was done because of impending danger to public health and safety or due to fraud / abuse of authority in the system, as outlined in the act.

The charge document does not state any of what you assert though. undecided

2. Well, FOIA does not state the document becomes declassified at the point it is distributed rather it states that a document marked as classified is not to be considered precluded from the exchange. Again, let us stay away from interpretations that do not align with what is in fact written. undecided

3. Nothing in the charge letters indicates any of what you claim here. Read through each of the 9 charges to see this for yourself. undecided

4. As for your statement there, that is not according to Section 1 of the Official Secrets action, particularly subsection 3. undecided

"Declassified" in the context of my response is just the definition in English, which means "no longer a secret".
The FOIA does not need to specifically use the word "Declassified" to describe a Classified (secret) document that has been approved for public consumption. But when a classified document is released, it becomes "Declassified".

Will also go to prison unless : Yes, if the public officer is indicted for releasing a document without authorization, the only exceptions are listed in the FOIA.

1. By your definition there, any document that is leaked can also be construed as declassified. So, let's simply stick to the FOIA on this one instead. undecided

2. Well, there is a reason why the word Declassified is not used. That you are not aware of it at this point is no reason why you should assume it is implied. undecided

3. If the officer is charged under the Official Secrets Act then subsection 3 of Section 1 acts in his favor as well. undecided
