Annual Limit Reached in the EB-2 Category Last Updated: September 9, 2024 The State Department, working in close collaboration with U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services, is pleased to announce the issuance of all available visas in the Employment-Based Second Preference (EB-2) category for fiscal year (FY) 2024. Maximizing these visas facilitates legitimate travel for individuals with exceptional ability and professionals holding advanced degrees. These individuals bring contributions across many industries that greatly benefit the U.S. economy. The Immigration and Nationality Act (INA) limits the number of employment-based preference immigrant visas that may be issued within a fiscal year. Specifically, INA 203(b)(2) provides that the annual limit for EB-2 visas is 28.6 percent of the worldwide employment limit. Since all available EB-2 visas for FY 2024 have been used, embassies and consulates may not issue visas in this category for the remainder of the fiscal year. The annual limit will reset with the start of the new fiscal year (FY 2025) on October 1, 2024. At that point, embassies and consulates may resume issuing immigrant visas in this category to qualified applicants. 3 Likes |

beautyuche: Hello, Lagos consulate employment based interview scheduling defy rhyme or reason.Dearth of information on the consulate part also is not helpful. Hence, the permutation and combination in the last 2 years . If you are eligible for EB1- A-C, I will suggest apply because it's like getting yourself in the queue but Ultra high level of patience will be the name of the game. Upon completion of the application and approval process, you become Documentarily qualified. if your Priority Date is current, You are left with NVC scheduling interview which is a function of Lagos consulate capacity at the time of the month scheduling is ongoing. EB-1 applicant are not as much as EB-2s and Eb-3, so your wait time may not be as ridiculous. The reason for saying this is because employment based excess quota usually gotten from unused family preference category (~20-40k) was not included for fiscal year 2025 140,000 application. This means more backlog at consulates, but faster processing on US soil (Adjustment of status) due to USCIS Efficiency. We may see EB visa across most categories used up as early as June Next year . EB1 ROW will probably move from current to Priority dates assigned by the end of 1st quarter 2025. |

One more thing @beautyuche, if you are outside the shores of Nigeria, I will suggest you go through your local consulate. so long your travel documentation is legitimate, you will probably get faster Interview scheduling (except you are based in SA (country & continent),Phillipines, India, brasilia, etc) than going through lagos for the foreseeable future. Perhaps Lagos consulate efficiency will change when they finally complete the consulate under construction in 2026-7 1 Like |

Disclaimer: Op Mary, apologies if this flout any rule on this thread, it's not intentional. this response was requested by GKmatic. I am not a financial adviser, just a fellow Nigerian that likes a bit of finance. A Totally random thought that has been on my mind for a while But wouldn't want to distract the purpose of this thread. For Nigerians amongst us,this may be the best time to look into the investment section of nairaland to be knowledgable on Nigeria finance even when you have relocated to the USA. The fora and link is as follows: I. mutual funds - https://www.nairaland.com/1912965/mutual-funds II. Treasury bill - https://www.nairaland.com/878880/treasury-bills-nigeria III. NSEMPA - https://www.nairaland.com/1131485/nigerian-stock-exchange-market-pick The best way to Follow the above mentioned thread will be to start from the very beginning , it's like reading a biography of Nigeria's finance. with patience, all questions you may have will be addressed. While at it, keep up with 2024 issues, by opening separate page. There are good companies/ business in Nigeria that may be worth investing in. Be wise while you tread such fora though to learn from local investors. This is one way to still be involved with the economy of our motherland while away toiling and investing on US soil and in US equity space as well Stay safe and blessed everyone. |

Hello everyone, I have this question I wanted to ask all this while. Here is it; what if as the principal applicant for my EB2-NIW case, i enter the US ahead of my family and have them join me at a later date, but wait for them at the airport on the day of their arrival? I mean, I am aware that, the USCIS has said that the principal applicant should be present when dependents are appearing for the first time. Thanks. 2 Likes |

Re: USA Employment-based Immigration (EB-1,EB-2,EB-3 Visa) by Lilianmustwin: 3:56pm On Sep 27 |
waleey27:the reason you haven’t got IL is because they haven’t send IL to EBS, expect your IL as soon as they sent out IL to EBS, hopefully in October or November. The information is on google. May I ask if there is any WhatsApp group? Do you mind if we chat on WhatsApp? |

Lilianmustwin: There is no WhatsApp group for EBs, though there is a Telegram group for EB-2. I sent you a message request on Nairaland. Please respond to it and I can provide my WhatsApp number. |
