Please who know how to update DS160 on the new website. Any help will be welcome.

🤠

1. Nobody knows, because the update is ongoing, and profile update is not yet introduced on the new website. If you are attending your interview sooner, go with both old and new DS-160s.

Hello everyone,

I WENT TO OIS @ idowu Taylor TO PICKUP TODAY, Apparently, many people had gone to DHL and were redirected to OIS,

First thing, go to OIS and book an appointment on appointment.oisservices.com, then go early enough, when I got there, they told us to write our names and passport number in a list, then they would check if the passport is actually ready, afterwhich you would be allowed inside and wait for them to SORT AND FIND your passport.

It was actually hectic, got there 10am and left around 2.45pm, just plan the whole day,

I actually didn't pay the 48k, don't know why because I saw some others before me pay so I was already prepared to pay, but I wasn't asked, maybe because time was far spent.

Had my interview in Abuja yesterday - 5th Sept.
First time applicant...

There were quite a few screening points and give me your passport please (I think 3 or 4) that I didn't even realise that the interview started. Thought she was just going to look at the passport and give me back to go to another queue.
I was already at 3rd question before I realized this is the interview.

VO: Can I have your passport please?
My Response: ofcourse, here you go.

VO:
Have you ever travelled out of Nigeria?
My Response: yes. I just returned from Togo last week. I have also been to Senegal, Kenya, Tanzania

VO: I see here that you studied in the UK?
My Response: Yes (I forgot to mention that one... lol! It was at this point I realized this is the interview) (the nerve kicked in)

VO: What do you do
My Response: I work with xyz company

VO: Yes, but as what?
My Response: I work as xxxx ( I thought I messed up for not answering the question asked directly)

VO: what is the purpose of your visit to the United States
My Response: I'm traveling to the US for holidays

VO: where will you be visiting in the US
My Response: I will be arriving in Los Angeles and joining my brother in Utah

VO: do you have a sibling in the US
My Response: Yes, my brother is in Utah

VO: is he a permanent residence in the US?
My Response: No, he is a student.

Typing some more.....

VO: pulls out white paper. Ok, I am approving your visa, you can pick up your passport........
My Response: thank you.

She didn't ask for any proof.

As I was stepping out all the 5 people that followed me had pink paper.

Not to mock people but to show my gratitude first to God and to all the responses and experiences shared in this group.
Less I forget, my passport has a Canada visit visa affix.

My DS 160 had arrival in Philadelphia but I couldn't update it before the website change. I took both old DS160 forms with me... old one had Pennsylvania while new one has Utah as address in the US...
No question was raised about that.

Congratulations! How did you pick your passport please?

Thank you for sharing.

I just booked an appointment on the site you stated and the pickup address shows DHL VI. Was this the same thing for you?

Do you suggest I go directly to OIS and not bother going to DHL?

The us embassy didn’t put enough planning to this transition, it’s quite chaotic and stressful. I hope the system begins to work seamlessly in no time.

I'm not sure if it's different for everyone. After the initial scheduling for my mum's appointment, it indicated we had 3 reschedule attempts left. I have rescheduled her twice and she still have one left.

Thank you for your response.

My people. Please I need help ooo

So, I have rescheduled my Mum's appointment.

However, the bar code on her DS 160 is different from the bar code on her appointment letter.

On the old appointment platform, it's easy to change it but this new system, I don't understand it at all.

Also, how can I update her DS 160? Do I need to fill a new one? I ask because I want to add more information for her travel history.

What do I do please. Please help a sister!
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by AdisaMighty: 8:34pm On Sep 13
Have found a solution to this. I am having the same problem
Slymod:
I made visa fee payment about 4 days ago on the new Avits website through bank transfer. Payment is yet to reflect and I'm unable to schedule an appointment. So I deleted the pending application request to start a new only to get the error 'Duplicate applicant found for this user'. I learnt the visa fee is tied to the email address used for registration. I'm thinking of deleting the account and registering again with the same email address in hopes the glitch will disappear and payment might be picked up. I even tried retrieving the payment details by entering the bank reference number and payment date. It gives the message bank 'bank details updated successfully and nothing happens thereafter.
Please has anyone encountered this issue and how was it fixed?
The support tickets I created are rotting away. No response since then.

Pgree:
Hi everyone, please I am having issues with the usvisaappt.com site. I created an account but deleted it by mistake. I created another one with a different email and tried typing my details so I can get the Visa payment slip but it keeps telling me duplicate user/user not active. Please what do I do?
Re: Usa Visit Visa Part 5 by annabee(f): 9:14pm On Sep 13
Exactly, a lot of people ignored the message from the embassy and rushed to make payment on the old website. I was already about to book appointment for my mom in July when I saw the newsletter concerning the new appointment website, I paused and waited till they moved before I continued. I knew it was going to be a hassle.

OyoTunjiUSA:

🤠

1. You seems to be lying against the embassy. It is only those with previous appointments that are supposed to be contacted by the embassy , with the introduction email that will link them with the new website ( AVITS).

2. USA embassy gave the public notification about the deadline , timeline and different procedures to make the MRV payment (online or physical @GTB) , prior to the update ,
but majority of VISA applicants disregard those directives.

3. Anyways, visit the new website (AVITS),

Create a ticket'' option in your scheduling account on usvisaappt.com. and send your MRV payment receipt alongside with a brief explanation to the help-line. They will send you the link to book your appointment.

@Debral,
I came across your post and thought i explain a highly plausible reason for the denial. To be very direct, the moment you/they submitted their NIV application, the USCIS system would have already adjudicated a NIV refusal due to the system also picking up a pending IV application.

Basis for this - you cannot argue a non immigrant intent when you already filed for an immigrant status/visa. As such, the physical interview was just procedural and i imagine would have been very short.

So it is not about your parent's response and i will advice not to re-submit another NIV application but rather wait for their GC process which takes about 16-18months on the average ( from USCIS to NVC stage for IV interview scheduling).

Hope the above explanation helps. Cheers.

Hello guys , my parents got denied this morning - age 60&65

Second appointment, first was 2019

Why are you going to the USA ?
How many children do you have ?
Where is the rest of the children?
What’s your son’s address ?
What state ?
Are you retired ? Yes

Denied !!

Currently , they have a pending green card Application that’s lasted a year .. could that be the problem ?

Thank you.

The bar codes on her application and appointment match. The only reason we filled another DS160 is to correct an error on intended travel date and interview location.

Hello Gurus in the house

Pls I just need clarification. I submitted my Passport for US Visa renewal through the Dropbox process on August 20th at DHL Abuja but indicated my collection point to be DHL, Port Harcourt. I haven't received any email or text message since then to know whether it is ready or not or whether DHL, Port Harcourt Office is still the collection point. Is there anyone in this situation and what's the current position? I would be glad to receive a response. Thanks

There is typically a perception that having an Immigrant petition means your NIV will be denied. That's not true. I had a few US NIVs during my immigrant petition. Other people on this same forum have also said the same..
Immigrant petitions can take awhile if not for
some categories up to 20years.

I mention this so that you know it does happen, people do get NIVs.

You might want to look at other things,
Was there a place in the DS160 that asked if anyone had filed immigrant petition for you. Did your parents answer yes to that question?
Do your parents have travel history ?
Was there any other question they asked your parents that they didn't mention to you?

However if your parents Priority Date is close on the visa bulletin then you can wait it out. This depends on what stage it is, though
has the petition been approved?, are you at NVC stage with documents all submitted and documentary qualified?. There have been longer wait times for Lagos consulate to give interviews for all immigrant categories since COVID.

Consular: Where are you going?
Mom: California
Consular: Why?
Mom: My daughter gave birth
Consular: How many kids do you have?
Mom: 7
Consular: How many in Nigeria?
Mom: 4 in Nigeria, 3 in America
Consular: How long will you stay?
Mom: 1 month
Consular: I will be issuing your visa, ask whoever is waiting for you to interpret what’s in the white paper.

Mom couldn’t recognize door afterwards, her joy was too full😂😂

Question: Does anyone know where to pick up passport? DHL or IOS? I switched her pick up to Lagos from Abuja. What is advisable with the current transition going on with the US embassy in Nigeria?

Hi,

I like to ask a few questions especially as regards interpretation. My mummy's interview is coming up in two weeks and she would need an interpreter. Does the embassy provide this service by default? Or do I have to mention somewhere in the application that we need an interpreter?

1. You will receive collection notification email when your VISA is ready. They have your file and info on record. Always check junk, spam and the main inbox.

2. In the meantime, track your VISA status here first :

Track visa .

https://ceac.state.gov/CEACStatTracker/Status.aspx?App=NIV

3. After that, go to the new website (AVIT) and sign up to raise a ticket (complain/query) quoting your submission slip, appointment or whatever support documents you can attach,

Avits website

https://www.usvisaappt.com/visaapplicantui/login

4. Finally, go to the new Pick Up/Drop-Off agency /company website . You will sign up and schedule appointment for your pick up. You can attach your VISA status printout if it's ready.
You will eventually receive your VISA from here or they redirect you to appropriate DHL offices in your given location.

Good morning all,
I had an appointment date for October 2024 from the previous portal. I was migrated to the new AVITS portal, the appointment confirmation letter in the new portal had no appointment date and time on it. I have tried to raise a ticket to ask that my appointment date and time be included in the confirmation letter, but the system would not allow me submit the ticket. I really do not know what to do next.

1. AVITS will not allow you to submit the ticket, because the meal you wanted to buy with the ticket has already being served on your table.

2. If your appointment is physical, attend your interview based on your last VISA appointment (Oct, 2024) but you must print out the new letter and take both letters along on your interview day.

FOR IW

3.. Your appointment confirmation letter from AVITS is blank in order to not cause confusion with OIS letter " because OIS letter appointment date is the one you will use to submit. Follow the guideline i gave to @ifyx12 on sense - 4 above.

Advice for first timers:

1. Screenshot every page of your DS160 form when filling it , so you don't forget what you filled later and you can use it to practice.

2. Watch YouTube videos for tips and mock visa interviews for your class of visa so you can build your confidence up and know how to answer the potential questions you may be asked.

3. YOU DO NOT NEED TO PAY ANYONE TO COACH YOU

4. Go through your documents yourself and as much as possible, bring everything from home. Those business centres around the embassy are shylocks who prey on your ignorance, naivety and unpreparedness.

Imagine paying ₦3k per page for coloured printing and ₦30k to do a DS160 confirmation page retrieval.

5. It still boils down to GRACE

I woke up early in the morning trying to get a reschedule date on the AVITS website and finally got a reschedule at 12 noon. The previous appointment was at Abuja and I had to take Lagos this time because dates are so hard to get, it like a hunt game were animals come and suddenly disappear.
