When my mum warned about "bad company", this was exactly what she was talking about...!

When I say more than 80% of Nigerian drivers (including those licensed and unlicensed) have absolutely no business driving even in a street, una go say I dey badmouth my country.

Most accidents in this nation are caused by recklessness and stupidity among our drivers rather than bad roads.

Sadly, many of you will rather pray against accidents or for journey mercies instead of calling out bad drivers.
very true. 90% of crashes on our roads are caused by recklessness

Enlighten me please! How does training relate to accident?

If I go by your logic, does it mean every adult that died in a motor accident was not properly trained?

Do you have an idea about how many 18 year olds that are safely driving on the road?

Your notion has no relation with accidents. Even pastors have accidents and never heard how they lacked basic home training.

You have forgotten to mention the policemen eyeing the phones and wallets of the presumed dead guys. That's the nature of
most Nigeria Police though to be sincere, we still have some few decent policemen among this lots.

I can't just forget the day I rescued or helped a one chance victim thrown down from a bus under Ijesha bridge, close to Lords Chosen by the criminals. I stopped to help out and not too long I stopped, another car too pulled to a stop and the driver claimed he was a policeman. That gives me moral support to even help the guy cos of the presence of the policeman. He helped me to carry the guy to my car which is bigger than his so that the victim can spread easily. He was bleeding seriously cos he was also shot, I never knew he was even shot until I got to Luth at Idi Araba when doctor quickly rushed him from my car straight to ICU.... Immediately I got to LUTH.....I just jumped down from my car amd started shouting help help he's dying, he's dying, one chance one chance.....thank God I met young doctors that day doing their whatever, it was when things were was getting so complicated that they went and call a senior doctor. No money was asked or collected from me until I was able to get the victim's brother and he came that night. The victim was able to tell us his name and also gave his brother's number at Okota palace. That police ran away with the victim's phone that night. He lied that I should be going and that he would follow me. He never did. I went to police station at Okota to collect Police report and then he was still with me went to St Raphael hospital, he was turned down but I insisted first aid to be given.....went to Isolo general hospital but wasn't accepted cos of too much blood lost and referred to Lasuth.....Lasuth disappointed me big time and referred me to Luth where I met mercy on this guy.All this while, the police man had ran, disappeared with the guys phone. Though, when I think about it sometime, it's possible he might have missed his way and couldn't follow up with me or didn't have enough fuel again cos that period, there was wide spread fuel scarcity.....this is about 2004 or 2005. I must tell you guys that whenever I remember my movement that night, from 10: 30 PM till 4:40 AM the next day. Moving from one hospital to another until finally LUTH, I keep asking myself that how about if the guy had died. These are questions I asked myself after everything, asked myself that what gave me the liver, the boldness. I could remember the guy calling me severally from the back of my car and begged that I shouldn't allow him to die. His white shirt had turned to red with a little dots of white. I cried as I was promising him that he would never die. Saying it all over again and again and crying and driving at the same time. Then, nothing like tribal hatred like now. The guy is Ibo and am Yoruba but we became friends closer than family or blood brothers at that moment. I am so glad that I could save somebody's life then..I believe up till today, that God counted that singular action of mine as a guarantee of his absolute love and forgiveness to any sin or mistake I had ever committed or would ever commit. Thanks Everyone, Am getting emotional all over again....

Nazgul:
Those useless and heartless policemen are only concerned with the bail money they'll collect from the victims who survived the accident.

The ones lying on the ground are presumed dead (even if they have a low pulse) thus considered as bad market for them.

That's how damaged the average Nigerian policeman is. Everything is money to them.

If you are a victim is this what you will type? Those drivers might not have driving license if true that is murder case on them, if they have that will be considered manslaughter. Everything is about Police collecting money or bribe and you will be the one comparing them with Police in other climes
So if you're a policeman and you happen to find yourself in an accident scene, rather than help the unconscious victims, you'd proceed to arrest the survivors because you feel they were driving without a license.

What you're telling me is that arresting people driving without license is more important than saving lives.

Wao. We truly deserve the kind of leaders we have.

If don't believe in prayers is fine but don't discourage people

Read to understand, not just to comment or respond!

I believe in prayers, but even your Bible says: Faith without work is dead.

Praying without needed or necessary awareness and warnings or counselling is the reason why Nigeria has more road accident deaths than less religious and praying nations like Japan and Singapore.

That's the same reason we have worse leaders and a dying nation compared to irreligious nations, which your prayer warriors flee to whenever they get the opportunity.

Has it been proven that he does not have a drivers license? It still does not make him instantaneously make him a criminal.

Even people who pulled the trigger point blank in the face of 100 witnesses still had to be proven guilty.

As at your time of conclusion, you cannot even tell if he has a learners permit and adult in the car guiding him.

Pray you never see court cases, lawyers will twist cases for you and you will be so amused.

How were you able to reach conclusion? Based on hearsay and journalism?

I repeat, he is still innocent until proven guilty. I should not be telling you that.

People have beat cases with worst evidence’s and false accusations.

Let the court decide and stop reaching conclusions based on what you read on “Nairaland”

Leave to the court to decide. A journalist told you he had no drivers license, have you “personally” that, or you just going by Nairaland narration?

Let the court make do with available evidences and reach conclusion. He still has a shot at freedom!

Every police patrol vehicle should have a first aid box and at least one officer with slight medical knowledge.

That’s why we have a court!

Everything you listed was composed by someone who narrated with what information was available to him or her.

That’s why we have a court of law. To digest issues and reach conclusions. It’s not for people like you to decide based on hearsay.

How did you know he had no drivers license and didn’t adhere to speed limits? Have you read his testimony?
