So you're insulting someone who decided to move back to his country away from the land of gun violence, six million genders, and hyper-inflation?

He worked at John Hopkins, definitely he won't have any financial concerns in Nigeria. And Nigeria is his homeland, those calling him mad may be more stupid.

He also said he is CEO of a multi-family real estate company (read: loans, loans, and more loans).
It is one thing to establish a business or hospital in Nigeria. It is quite another to sell your house and everything and relocate to Nigeria with your family!

He can claim he's trying to help Nigeria (sure!).
It can be for any reason - burn out, crime he knows may catch up with him, moment of depression, loans owed, other pressures, etc.
I can assure you of one thing - almost all relocate because something is "chasing" them

Medical doctor that have made it over there, I am sure he has enough to start his own medical line or something down here in Nigeria... Hopefully the collapsing economy would not threaten his business like it has done to many business owners

He probably has affiliation with the present regime, this is the only tangible explanation.

Trust me, The man being a physician has got everything planned out before making this move.

And when the situation in naija is no longer funny,he can easily run back.

He already has everything planned out.

He can establish his medical practice here and thrive. If he hadn't lived and worked in the U.S, it would have been a lot more difficult to do that.

Exactly! It is not like he is stuck in Nigeria like some of his mates who may find it difficult to relocate to the U.S.

Look, he won't be the first. Some guy with a good job suddenly packed his bags and came back and locked himself inside for two weeks.
People get burnt out or there's a hidden something chasing them, but I can assure you of one thing - no one relocates back to Nigeria because he wants to help the country!

This is commendable.. there is one other Dr. Okoye I see on the news doing great things in Nigeria too.
Having stayed and worked for 25yrs in America, it's really thoughtful of him to come back home and invest in medical facilities for improved healthcare system in Nigeria and Africa. The only challenge is the bad leaders and corrupt system.

It may not be as you think.
Whatever "chased" him out of US may keep him out of US.
(Example: you know you embezzled money and there's a probe going on)

If you keep reading about kidnappings and such in a country, you don't move there because you're being nice. You move there because it is the best option FOR YOU!

Kidnappings don't occur there. Ask Nigerian there, they'd tell you they feel 1000% safer there.

I myself repeat, nobody comes back to Nigeria because they're trying to do Nigeria a favour!

We can ask them right now:
Nigerians in US, do you feel safer traveling the road in US or in Nigeria?

He has seen it all and he decided to pick what's best for him.
I am not anti japa but I will still say it without fear. If I have enough money that would cover all my "japa expenses" I would stay back in Nigeria and invest the money. I am familiar with Nigeria and it will be easy for me to do so many things here than a foreign land.

Last year I had the opportunity to travel abroad I told the person to invest the money in a business for me here, since he is also doing well in Nigeria without traveling abroad to hustle, he refused to give me any money or even invest it for me in a business. I told him I wasn't interested in traveling, that I can't be slaving away in a foreign land, living in fear or foreign laws that are anti black (no matter how nice they paint it) plus leaving all the people I cherish behind was something I can't imagine.
He kept his money and I thanked him for offering to help.

1) He came back to setup up a business that has high demand as Nigerians spend over 2 trillion naira yearly ( my estimate from data online ) on seeking Medical care abroad so an overseas based specialist coming here to do the job people travel.for would be cheaper and even people from abroad can come here for cheaper services

2) Him and his wife and his children have American passports and can always return if things dont work out.

3) He didnt resign his job as a medical professor and Orthopaedic Surgeon in a top A list US University, He took leave of absence

4) Orthopaedic Surgeons are in demand in the USA and are highly paid (37000 -45000 US dollars after taxes monthly according to chat gpt premium), so he wont have a problem getting his old job back or a new high paying Job back in the USA or Australia if he wants to go back

5) He has a property company already

6) His residence and medical practice would likely be in ikeja or Gbagada or Ilupeju or V.I or Ikoyi or Lekki or in Abuja where crime is not too high and security and social services and infrastructure are much better compared to other areas in Nigeria, and customer focus would be on high networth Nigerian based clients and expatriates and people abroad from ghana, Uk, who want high quality medical orthopaedic specialist care in Nigeria and can afford to pay out of pocket of which it would appear cheaper compared to travelling out and more convenient for follow up appointments after treatment/surgery

7) His US employer may even be an investor in his Nigerian Business through their endowment fund or charity or philantropic arm.

You should have taken up his offer since he was unwilling to give you the cash. You could always come back

cool

Most people will insult him and it's because most Blacks have very low IQ - sounds racist but bitter truth. That's why Africa will remain a shiithole.

Japan & Germany were practically annihilated at the end of World War and they are super powers now.

How can Japa solve the problems back in Africa ? The foreigners who rolled their sleeves to make their societies what they are today have 2 heads ? So we want to benefit from their own sacrifice and not do anything about our own homes ?

If you want to insult him got being foolish... check yourself very well. He's at least very likely better educated than you. At the very least.

Wish him all the best. It's a very challenging environment.
