I watched this movie three times in theatres and I laughed my ass off. Not all the jokes landed ofc but compared to other Hollywood comedies nowadays it was pretty brutal. A perfect 9/10 movie. If you go into the movie expecting great action sequences- amazing fourth wall breaks and a funny but stupid premise - you're in for a treat! People don't understand u have to think of Deadpool as a parody

I thought it was a decent popcorn movie.

PREDATOR (1987) 10/10
What can I say. It was frenetic. End to end face off between the creature and the valiant commandos who laid their lives to fight a common enemy. My best scene was the gun battle between the rebels and the commandos. It was grueling and the operation was tidy

Lol, there's only so much I could add and most of that was off the top of my head. There's at least up to 5 movies for possible awards race that we didn't add.

Yep, after watching the trailer it really looks like an awards contender and what the Academy would like.

A few chatter has been on for the film's hopes.... I think it's cos WB hasn't been doing a big marketing push for the movie cos I haven't heard about it's appearance in these film festivals. After the trailer and marketing ramp up we should start seeing something closer into the awards.

WB is setting up that movie as their Best Picture contender....so it ain't out of the chat.

But since I use money go watch Aquaman 2 for cinema this January out of curiosity. I fit still stick to am. But these ratings and word of mouth from many fans ain't encouraging at all.

Seems that decision to make it a musical hurt after all.

I watch the Deadpool franchise mainly for the dialogues.

Imagine watching the latest installment "Deadpool and Wolverine" oblivious of where most of the remarks and references originated from, waste of peak!

1. Things Fall apart already has a Nigerian adaption. It was a long time ago and I don't remember it very well, but a Nigerian adaption already exist.

2. The job of a actor is to interpret a script and bring it to life. The heavy lifting has already been done by Achebe. A good actor should be able to research and bring a character to life. If he has to live through an experience in order to act it out, then that person is a bad actor.

3. You don't need first hand experience to ''understands the culture deeply''. Most Nigerians are not familiar with pre-colonial Nigeria and anything they know about it, is from what they read or what the heard from a 3rd party.

4. The Nigerian movie industry seems to be mostly disinterested in telling pre-colonial stories or adaption of classic Nigerian literature. If Hollywood has to undertake this task for them, then the will make to to appeal to a a very broad audience. And one of the easiest ways of doing this is by hiring established actors who are households names. There will be people who will see a movie/series because Idris Alba is in it and not because they have any particular interest in the clash of ideologies that the coming of the white man to eastern Nigeria brought.

5. Idris Alba already has a solid repertoire of playing Africans characters. His performance in Beast of No Nation and Sometimes in April were both solid. Yes his accent will be off in the new movie, but I don't think it will ruin the movie.

The thing I agree with is that Nigerian movie makers are not doing well by refusing to do colonial stories. This why we have some simps here worshipping white women lol....

But I digress. Hollywood has never truly gotten Nigerian accents right. They usually have some propaganda. Just look at woman king- the Oyo empire were somehow the bigger slave trading villains than the Westerners. America will never put your country before theirs.

This is why we have to tell our stories. No one will do it well for you.
